Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Kevin Smith released details regarding the Clerks X - 10th Anniversary Edition DVD at the View Askew message boards. The three disc set is scheduled to be released on September 7th. Smith has also put some pictures of the DVD set, which can be found at the link above. Specs so far: - All new HiDef transfer from 16mm IP supervised by Dave Klein with all-new 5.1 Skywalker Sound remix supervised by Scott Mosier. - The 93 minute theatrical cut; includes original commentary track from initial DVD release (Disc One). - The 103 minute IFFM first cut; includes all new audio/video commentary track with Kevin Smith, Scott Mosier, Jeff Anderson, Brian O'Halloran and Jason Mewes (Disc Two). - Brand new 95 minute documentary "The Snowball Effect: The Story of Clerks" (Disc Three). - Jay and Silent Bob shorts from MTV - Arclight 10th Anniversary Q&A - "The Flying Car" short from the Tonight Show (re-telecined in HiDef). - Original theatrical trailer - "Can't Even Tell" music video - Original audition tapes - Brand new seven minute animated "Lost Scene" short - Still Photo Gallery - Clerks Trivia track - Original 168-page first draft screenplay - Kevin Smith's Clerks Journal - Kevin Smith's Sundance Journal - Peter Broderick's 1992 article "The ABC's of No-Budget Filmmaking." - Peter Broderick's follow-up article "Learning from Low-Budgets." - Amy Taubin's Village Voice article on the 1991 IFFM and "Slacker" that inspired Kevin to take Clerks to the IFFM. - Amy Taubin's Village Voice article on the 1993 IFFM about Clerks being the gem of the festival. - Janet Maslin's 1994 New York Times review of Clerks entitled "At a Convenience Store, Coolness To Go." - The entire John Pierson "The Odd Couple: Sundance 1994" chapter from "Spike Mike Reloaded" book. - The original Kevin-penned IFFM program note - The original Bob Hawk-penned 1994 Sundance Film Festival program note. - "Mae Day" - Kevin and Scott's Vancouver Film School documentary short. - Booklet ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Needless to say, this is a must-buy for me. I already have the first Clerks DVD, but I don't have a problem with double-dipping in this case. In my opinion, the new transfer alone makes the DVD worth buying. September 7th can't come fast enough. *insert VA movie quote here*
notJames 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Patience and blind faith finally pay off... no need to double-dip for me since I heard the rumours about this DVD set so long ago that I opted not to buy the current disc. Damn, that's a hefty list of features. And the animated "lost scene" is supposedly what happens when Randall and Dante go to the funeral. Huzzah!!!
Karnage 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 This is gonna be awesome.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 That's quite a metric assload of content. However, the price probably will be kinda steep..

Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 14, 2004 That's quite a metric assload of content. However, the price probably will be kinda steep.. The MSRP is $34.99, but it should be less than that on release day. As of right now, both Circuit City and Best Buy have a pre-order price of $29.99, which isn't too bad. $30 for a three-disc set loaded with extras and a new transfer sounds reasonable to me. Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 14, 2004 It's reasons like this i don't buy DVDs. I'm gonna hold out until the release the 15th Anniversary Edition with even MORE content.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 I'll wait until X-Mas and then just give the one I've got now to one of my friends
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Goody for me I held out on buying the current edition, but I'm still gonna have to sleep on it. If I find it around $24-$25 then I'd get it. The "flying car" skit I already dowloaded from Smith's website, but a new transfer should be sweet.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 i'll double dip for this. Easily.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 I'll get it...although the commentary track on the DVD out now is painfully boring.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Meh, the current edition has enough for my liking. I'll probably get this one, but I've had the current edition for over two years and watched it several times, so it's not like I didn't get my money's worth out of it. Double-dipping sucks, but I'd rather do it if it means being able to watch a movie I really enjoy anytime I want instead of waiting around like a dunce for several years for a better edition to come out. Karnage 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Anyone know if there is supposed to be a Clerks live action pilot thats supposed to be on the set? I don't see it anywhere in the specs.

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 And "The Flying Car" is pretty cool. I tuned into Leno the night it aired for no real reason. When Clerks came out it was like $40 at Best Buy, and Mallrats was damn near $30.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 $30+ is too much for ONE MOVIE, I don't care if it is 10 discs.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Even when I stopped being such a hardcore Smith fan, I still waited for this DVD. And now it's here. Well, almost. Tremendous. Askewniverse, I used to visit ViewAskew and NewsAskew.com sometimes ten times daily, but yes, I stopped being such a hardcore fan. I forgot about the boards too. LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Thanks for the info. I've been holding off on the first edition because I knew the were doing the 10th anniversary edition. Now I know when.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Can anyone please educate me on the term 'double dipping' used here?
notJames 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Buy two different versions of the same movie. For example, buying both the theatrical and extended versions of the Lord of the Rings movies.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 15, 2004 That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure, thanks. I'm not into double dipping myself either, I have enough trouble shelling out $20+ for a DVD alone let alone two of the same movie. It's reasons like this i don't buy DVDs. I'm gonna hold out until the release the 15th Anniversary Edition with even MORE content. Agreed totally. Is it just me or is anyone else sick and tired of studios loading DVDs with content instead of making the movie actually INTERESTING?! Anyways, that's another topic for another day. Seeing as how I don't have Clerks yet, I'll probably opt to buy this after it comes out.
