Guest JohnnySwift Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Hmm... the Sonics may be shopping Ray Allen. They are shopping him. Right now the front runners are the T-Wolves and...the Celtics. Evidently Ainge wants Allen and that PF Vitally or something...I dunno, fucked up Russian name. He doesn't want to give up Pierce or Welsch though to do it. No clue what the T-Wolves are offering. Potapenko?? I hope that isn't him because he was a lunk on the C's bench for years and then we traded him to the Sonics in that wonderful Vin Baker trade. Speaking of the Sonics, when did they stop being Super? I know David Stern corrected himself at the draft when he called them Sonics.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 They are technically still the Seattle SuperSonics just like the Blazers still are the Portland TrailBlazers
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 They're only super when they make the playoffs. Right now, they're just regular Sonics.

The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Gordon Giricek and Mehmet Okur have reached verbal agreements with the Jazz: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/bask...r.ap/index.html Looks like its time for Darko to step it up and replace Okur in Detroit! Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 It's official NBA GM's have lost their minds Jazz have offered Okur a 6 year 50 million dollar contract. while the Warriors resigned Adonal Foyle to a 41.6 million/5 years contract. The guy averaged less than 4 points and 4 rebounds and only played in 44 games last year. Unbelievable.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I know big men are hard to come by, but sheesh. This is ridiculous as far as what Foyle and Okur are getting. I could agree with fewer years on those contracts, but the Jazz and Warriors are gonna be stuck with those guys now for several years.

Maybe... Mavericks get: Shaq Warriors get: Howard Podkolzine Lakers get: Dampier Foyle Finley Claxton Or maybe there's a better combination.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Dumars actually wanted to keep Okur before Rasheed showed what he can do on a team with positives. He was suppose to be a rental player but now he may just stay for the long run. Thing is they could give Sheed a 4 year deal and when its up Darko is 24 and probably is ready to replace Sheed and then some.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 The good thing about Okur going to the Jazz is now Kenyon Martin is more interested about moving to SLC. Although I'm not sure if that's necessarily a good thing, his attitude is questionable and the fact that we already have a million people at the SF position. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I'd love to see K-Mart go to Boston. Not enough cap space though most likely.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Well, I thought it was good getting Okur, until I saw the price tag. I am not really surprised by this as it seems the Jazz will outspend one way or another to lure in some FA's. Last year, they tried for Andre Miller, Brad Miller, Corey Maggette, and Jason Terry. All were matched. I am not thrilled with the years, but Utah has to get some people into SLC.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 A six year, $40 isn't that bad for Okur. Still a much better deal than what they signed Ostertag to back in the day. I wonder if the Jazz will wind up with KMart or Ginobli (although I just read somewhere that the Nuggets are offering him a max).

Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Ginobili? or Martin? Ginobli. But both of them are visiting Denver and Utah this week.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 7, 2004 There is no way Ginobilli deserves a max contract. That's virtually saying he's better than Peja.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Looks like Rudy T has been offered the Lake Show. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylc=X3oD...ov=ap&type=lgns Word is Kobe will be visiting with the Clippers some time in the week and the Spurs will pitch him a deal before that as well. I think Kobe is waiting to see if the Lakers can move Shaq before committing to them. With Nash gone on to the Suns, that wipes out a potential LA/Dallas deal unless Dallas parts with Dirk and Cuban has restated that Dirk is not movable. The only other team that could deal with the Lakers and Shaq would be the Kings and I don't think LA wants to help their rivals at this time. Word on the deal breaker with Sac/LA is Sac doesn't want to part with Bibby and/or Brad Miller. Everyone else is up for grabs, but LA isn't feeling Chris Webber with a hole in his knee, Doug Christie turning 35, or Bobby Jackson in the last year of his contract. Peja would be great, but he is on the level of Brad Miller in that if the Kings don't have to part with him, they won't.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I also read that Denver has talked with Kobe. I'll find the link in a second. And here it is. And with that, Michael Cooper has joined the Nuggets' coaching staff. I like Ginobili a lot, but I'd agree that I wouldn't give him the max. Especially when Carmelo will probably be commanding the max in a couple years.
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 For all two of you who care, Rafer Alston has apparently agreed to sign with Toronto: http://www.sportsnet.ca/nba/article.jsp?co...707_091926_5116 As a fan of Toronto, I like this. Rafer was apart of the team for 2-3 months before signing with Miami and he did a great job, I thought. The first few games he came in, he was scoring 30pts and dishing out 10 assists and provided a much needed boost in energy for the Raps. I was also pissed to see him get benched in favour of Alvin Williams though, hopefully this time will be different.

On top of Kobe and Manu they're also looking to talk to K-Mart according to ESPN Carlos Boozer, Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson. My question to you guys is, if you were the Nuggets GM would you take Manu, K-Mart or Kobe? I'd probably go for Kenyon.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I'd go with Kobe first and foremost, but since it's likely he'll stay somewhere in LA, K-Mart would be a close second with Boozer behind him.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I would go with Kenyon simply because Kobe and Melo's egos would collide.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Rudy T should get some pride and realize that Lakers only want him because Kobe feels he can coach through him. This bullshit about hand-picking your leader has gotta stop. If Kobe wants to have a say in who's coaching the Lakers, he can coach his own damn team. I assume Memphis no longer wants Kobe? King Kamala 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 Boston.com reports Ainge won't shop Paul Pierce. Which is probably the best move he's made so far as GM. I still believe that the Celtics are one huge piece ( IE K-Mart) or several small pieces (IE a few a solid veteran roleplayers) away from becoming contenders in the Eastern Conference. Besides it's not a good idea to piss off your team's only superstar.
