Would some one let me know what episodes are in the DVD set that is out now, and if it includes Starcrossed?

I think you are talking about the Justice League Collection DVD Set. If that is the case it collects the first 3 Justice League DVD's that have the first eleven episodes of the show.

I don't think so. It's a box set like the Batman TAS set, although I think it is the whole first season.

Could you have mistaken the "Super Friends" DVD set for the Justice League since the Super Friends one has a similar cover to the B:TAS Set

Damn, you're right. I thought I'd seen a Justice League one but apparently I was mistaken. =/

 

I wouldn't rule out them putting one out, because I still see some of the old Batman TAS DVDs even though the box set made them obsolete. I guess a JL set is coming later.

Tonight's episode was good, but really, it showed why the half-hour format is just going to cause problems.

 

You can't really tell the best story possible in a half hour, considering they have such a large cast of characters. 30 minutes isn't even enough time to get adequately present (let alone develop) the different personalities of the new characters and how they interact with other Leaguers.

I dunno...Arrow's personality seemed OK.

I enjoyed tonight's ep. I think this particular episode worked at the half hour mark because the villain wasn't all that interesting. The focus was more on GA and the whole "teamwork" thing. I like that Bats seems to gravitate towards GA, though. I can see some interesting conversations in the future between those two.

 

And we see CANARY~!

Well, I liked that Green Lantern was the one to pick up Green Arrow (even though I'll probably mix up their names without thinking if I discuss them for too long). The whole scene with GA fighting off robbers in a grocery store was a great intro for him, and who doesn't love a Boxing Glove Arrow (I'll bet that it's a few people). From here, we get the new opening that is a FULL-ON POWER BALLAD OF GUITAR RIFFS, BAY-BAY~! Since I've spent the past year using FULL-ON POWER BALLAD OF GUITAR RIFFS~! to accenuate over-the-top jokes in movies my friends and I have made, that's not something to my liking. Ah, well, the fact that they're episode-centric is a cool deal since the roster is so big. As for the rest of the episode, it had a few bright spots (GA marching against nuclear power in college and Captain Atom being so straight laced that it hurt) and, even though I saw the ending coming a mile away, I still enjoyed it. I didn't love it, but they had to start somewhere. I just hope every episode doesn't have someone making cutesy little remarks all the time. Supergirl's act wore a little thin. The new voice actors did a good job, too. I say ***.

I was on the fence with this episode. I really enjoyed Green Arrow, but at the same time was mildly irked by Supergirl and indifferent on Captain Atom. But they put the emphasis on the right guy here and it was a decent enough start. Good for a first episode, anyway.

I remember from that show on the History Channel about the history of comics that the first Green Lantern and Green Arrow had a comic book series together. I saw the "liberal" attitudes of GA, and I think his character will work out nicely. He's like The Flash, but less annoying.

 

Overall, I think it was an excellent start to the series. The Justice League episodes were starting to get stale, and this definitely was not stale. I'm looking forward to the next episode already. Who do you think the next villian they fight will be?

The opening with Green Arrow and Green Lantern was really cool. It almost felt like an issue of the "Hard Traveling Heroes" storyline. I also got the feeling that Batman used to think the way Green Arrow did; at least in terms of joining the League instead of just fighting street crime. The divide between Green Arrow and Captain Atom was just great and really established their ideological differences. And it did it without being overtly political -- it was very subtle.

 

Looking through the episode descriptions this season, it seems there are several instances where heroes with different ideologies clash: Captain Atom and Green Arrow, The Question and Green Arrow, and Hawk and Dove. I think this is a good move as it really shows the characters as real people.

 

It's also good to know that the people working on JLU are really using the Charlton Comics characters.

It's definitely better, because now the heroes don't seem all one-dimensional. Like I said, I'm betting that a lot of the charater-driven plots are going to originate around Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Super Girl. It will be nice for the episodes to be more than just "kill or defeat the bad guy."

 

I really liked the episode(s) where Vandal Savage meets Superman in the far distant future, because it showed him as a different person. I'm a real fan of character development.

First off, of a review of sorts for Starcrossed...although it's more of impressions of the series than it is an indepth review. A lot of it I agree with (especially the part about the double-dipping disc release system. I want JL season 1, damnit!):

That being said, so far I'm very impressed with Unlimited so far. Of course, Green Arrow--he's not superhuman, right? Yet he seemed to be far stronger than faster than any normal human...plus the arrows holding up that truck--uhhhh?

 

However, it's a great introduction to his character and his reservations about joining the league. Stewart's cool as always. I didn't mind Supergirl at all.

 

However, they originally were very determined to respect each government's wishes, but when all hell broke loose, the team just took action. However, they didn't settle just what they'd do in another situation like that, or how that government responded. Would the situation be publicized, or would the League keep it a secret?

 

Of course, half-hour format and all, I know not every important detail can be squeezed in, it's just some things I noticed. By and large I'm very happy with what I saw and await more.

Green Arrow's superpowers are like Hawkeye's from the Marvel Universe: Superhuman agility and superhuman eye sight. Basically, he can fire his arrows from any position, even upside down in mid air, and he can almost always hit his target.

 

Green Arrow is like Batman, in that he's a hero, but he's still mortal. It makes him seem more human, and that means people relate to him better.

Uh--basically all of them are mortal, but Batman doesn't have "super powers," while to a certain extent it appears Green Arrow does.

In the comics, sure, but if you consider JL and JLU to be a linear progression from Batman TAS, it doesn't seem to be too true.

 

Overall, he's seemed to grow emotionally in a very healthy way in those series.
