ESPN Who's number one Worst teams edition

Recommended Posts

First the complaint:

theres too much recappingon these specials

they recap at 20 15 10 5 and 1 AND draw out the recap by having their girls take their time with saying tweeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnntttttttyyyyyyyy fourrrrrrr (for example) they waste so much time that could eb used for more discussion about each team..just run the previous picks in a tickr at the bottom fro cryin' out loud

the show itself was great i liked the bit about the marlins aftermath of the rent-a-team and the hometown 1990 patriots

I was really surprised that last year's Tigers didn't make it onto the list. Same with some of the recent Bulls teams.

That was my big complaint. It took up half the air time between commercial breaks.

I watched it and I thought it was pretty good except for the fact that after every 5 they have to recap all the other ones which seemed to take forever. Oh and that guy who yells random things like THE ABSOLUTE WORST can go but other than that I thought it was pretty good. I didn't really have any problems with the teams that where picked except that towards the end it seemed like all small college football teams but I guess they had the worst players and put together the worst teams of the past 25 years.

Thanks.

I was on a chat room on ESPN.com with some ESPN.com writer (I forget his name) who helped compile the list. Literally they forgot the 2003 Detroit Tigers. He said they'd probably be the number one pick if it weren't for that.

I don't buy that at all.

You don't put on the 2002 Tampa Bay Devil Rays or especially the 96 Tigers and not in some way get reminded of the 03 Tigers.

There was a reason they weren't on.

Crappy show. They gave almost zero time to explaining WHY these teams were so bad and WHO was on these teams. I agree with everyone that said they wasted too much time recapping the list and saying "twenty-twenty-tweeeenty-twenty-three" or whatever before each recap. Ugh and those stupid kids finger-painting! The fluff and filler that accompanies any show almost never bothers me, but this one really pissed me off for some reason.

Does anyone know the complete list? I remember seeing the 93 Dallas Mavericks, who were awful, but did beat the Rockets in Houston in the last week and cost them the division title.

But, seriously I can't believe that the worst team pretty much in the History of baseball does not get put on the list, but a very shitty version of the same franchise does. I took pride last season knowing that I was watching the worst team ever everytime I went to Comerica Park

The '96 Tigers do deserve some credit, as they had quite possibly the worst pitching staff in the history of baseball. Only the 1930 Phillies, who played in a big hitters' era, in a big hitters' park, allowed more runs in the 20th Century.

Man, it must have sucked going to Prairie View in the early 90s ... two of the worst teams in the last 25 years at the same time? Brutal. (hell, it probably sucked going to PV at any time, but that's another story)

And I know that ESPN ignores hockey, but how do only 2 NHL teams make the list while 7 NBA teams do? Oh, yeah, ESPN doesn't have a hard-on over the NHL so it's easier to ignore them. Nevermind.

I'm surprised none of the Ohio University teams made the list. They've had plenty of winless seasons in the last 25 yrs.

I called the two teams they were gonna pick for the NHL. I was thinking they might squeeze in the Capitals from their disasterous first year as an expansion team.

Both versions of the Tigers should have made it over the Devil rays.

hey why isnt 1982 Kent State football on the list. My dad played for them when they had the longest losing streak in the nation. He did catch a touchdown pass in the game when they broke the streak

Hmm... 1972-73 Capitals... 8-67-5, right?

That team should not only have made the list, it should have easily been top 5.

It would've been stupid for the Bengals to be on the list though. Even though they were bad teams they still managed to stay at the 3 win level. The worst they ever slipped to was 2-14. With the few 1-15 teams out there it's hard to justify putting a Bengals team on the list. I imagine ESPN was dying to do it though.

The 2-14 team was really really bad...

We blew out an expansion team and acted if we had won the god damn superbowl and barely beat a New Orleans Team that is known to fuck up dramatically that late in the season.

the 1-15 Chargers (1998 ?) showed more fire...The 1-15 Cowboys just led to the future of the dynasty...
