converge241 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 i didnt buy it but read about it in wizard/previews and why is *SPOILER?* Magneto alive again and on Xaiver's team??
starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 The way I see it, he never should have died (again) in the first place, but Morrison wrote himself into a position where that was the only logical result. But since Magneto is integral to the X-Men mythos, editorial NEEDED to bring him back, and so he's back. btw, to preserve your sanity, ignore everything Morrison wrote from Planet X onwards with the exception of Xorn being Magneto (which to me still doesn't make sense, but whatever) and Jean dies (again). His last 2 arcs sucked anyways.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 The only explanation I can conceive, having re-read the New X-Men issue where Mags supposedly hit the dust, is that Wolverine actually didn't behead him. We see Xorn's helmet plummeth to the ground but we don't actualy see if Mags puts it back on (he held it in his arms and was about to put it on.) We (along with everyone else) just assumed Wolvie killed him, when in fact he didn't. Do I get a No-Prize?
converge241 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 ill send you the no-prize, true believer! i can live with that one (i guess) so that's how many times wolverine killed him..but not really..who is counting at home kids? i was just beginning to swallow mags coming back after wolverine gutted him before morrison took over then i read marvel previews and see him on the cover and it caused me to lose it LOL then i read astonishing number 2 to help calm down
starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 then i read astonishing number 2 to help calm down Astonishing 2 was a bit disappointing (but still good), but I suppose that since #1 was very good anything was gonna be a letdown, eh? Also, is it too much to ask that Cassady, Davis and Larocca get together and get some consistency on Wolverine's mask? Cassaday's going with the original mask, Larocca's got the "classic" one that Gil Kane drew, and Davis is somewhere in between...
converge241 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 yeah i noticed that too (the variation on wolvie) im not a big fan that he has to be on both xmen teams either (but of course i understand why they have to do that) i liked 2 the same as 1 especially the part with emma/kitty this is going to diverge away from the topic but can you advise: what's the deal with the "real" Xorn in Uncanny? and if you follow spider-man: who is after him in the latest storyline? (i used to be way more into comics , and ran a store, but now im pretty half-assed into it)
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Does anyone have any pics of the new costumes? Since I dont live anywhere near a comic store I have no idea what they look like and I really wanna see them. My opinion it cant be worse then the New X-Men costumes, God I hated those. starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 what's the deal with the "real" Xorn in Uncanny? Editorial wanted Xorn back. Does anyone have any pics of the new costumes? Since I dont live anywhere near a comic store I have no idea what they look like and I really wanna see them. My opinion it cant be worse then the New X-Men costumes, God I hated those. Costumes... I can do some descriptions if I can't find any pics... X-Men (Away team): Polaris - same as before Iceman - he's all ice, doesn't need no stinkin' costume Gambit - same as it ever was Rogue - ditto Havok - variation of his original costume, but with more tubes and stuff. Frankly, it kinda sucks. Juggernaut - back to brown, I think Wolverine - "classic" cowl, blue and yellow costume but the colours extend down the leg instead of stopping at the trunks. Astonishing X-Men (Home team): Beast - tights in the style of his old X-Factor costume Shadowcat - variation on her "Sprite" costume, without the cowl. Lockheed - he's nekkid. But as always, he rules. Cyclops - looks like a blue Solar, Man of the Atom Wolverine - same as above, but more of an "original" (ie Hulk 181) cowl. White Queen - same Uncanny X-Men (X.S.E.) Cannonball - red and yellow costume that kinda looks like a streamlined Iron Man outfit. Nightcrawler - an outfit that he wore in Excalibur for about 2 issues, with an added "X" Bishop - I think it's the same as before, but I'm not sure. Marvel Girl - an updated version of the orginal Marvel Girl costume. Sage - purple bodysuit with a shawl/hood Wolverine - cowl somewhere in between the other two. Storm - black bodysuit with a cape. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I just don't like Wolverine's "Astonishing" mask. Cassaday is a terrific artist but he missed the mark on this IMO. Alan Davis is a god with the pencils, so anything he does is fine by me. I still maintain he drew the best Human Torch EVER.

Alan Davis is a god with the pencils, so anything he does is fine by me. I still maintain he drew the best Human Torch EVER. He's always awesome. Personally I think that his initial run on Excalibur (with Paul Neary as his inker) was some of his best work ever. Note: the link for the Uncanny cover doesn't seem to be working. Try this one... btw I think that this helps prove pochorenella's point. Bryan Hitch wishes he could draw this well, and ON TIME to boot...
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Cassady did not design Wolverine's new costume. That costume was created by "committee" (by the editors I presume)

starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Cassady did not design Wolverine's new costume. That costume was created by "committee" (by the editors I presume) Noone said he did. We're just hoping for a bit more consistency between the artists... How the hell do they explain Wolvie being on EVERY FREAKING TEAM~!??!?!? Wolverine = sales. It's not gonna be explained, but if it makes you feel better, Austen made a joke about it in his first X-Men issue...
Vyce 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 The latest revamp is just killing me. I'm not pleased with Austen, I'm INSANELY less please with them bringing Claremont back and giving Uncanny his shitacular X-Treme team, and the Magneto thing makes me want to pull all of my hair out in frustration. And anyone look through the Marvel Previews? They've apparently decided that every single X-man deserves their own comic. EVERY single one. Christ, Marvel had won me over with their Marvel Knights run a few years back. I'm starting to hate them again.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 yeah some of the new ongoing series' listed in Marvel previews Nightcrawler Gambit Jubilee Jubilee's not an X-Man. Not officially, anyways. And while I like the character, there's simply no way she deserves a title. Why they couldn't turn Unlimited into an anthology series (a la Marvel Tales) for stuff like this I've no idea. FYI the best X-titles (that you're probably not reading) are District X and New X-Men: Academy X. Pick those up if you're getting annoyed with the regular X-titles... pochorenella 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 As long as there's no Psylocke ongoing/limited series or the like, then everything is fine and dandy. They should ammend Marvel's first Commandment: "Only Bucky AND PSYLOCKE stay dead."
Vyce 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 yeah some of the new ongoing series' listed in Marvel previews Nightcrawler Gambit Jubilee Yes. And they already have a Wolverine title, and a Rogue title.....and Mystique....and Emma Frost....am I leaving anyone out? Oh yes - the Madrox mini starts that month as well. Although at least that might potentially be interesting, given who's behind it. They're grossly oversaturating again.

They should ammend Marvel's first Commandment: "Only Bucky AND PSYLOCKE stay dead." I'm pretty sure that Claremont wants Psylocke back (even though he killed her off). Colossus better stay dead though. I mean, he'd be a more interesting character to bring back, but then his sacrifice kinda becomes meaningless...
Vyce 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Well, of COURSE Claremont wants her back. You know - I really hated the character and was glad she was killed off. But I read the storyline where he killed her off, and I have to say, he fucked even that up.
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Colossus better stay dead though. I mean, he'd be a more interesting character to bring back, but then his sacrifice kinda becomes meaningless... Funny you should say that. In one of the Weapon X issues Mr. Sinister showed up looking for some blood samples of Colossus so he could bring him back. I hope it doesn't happen. Besides when it comes to lives Colossus had one of the shitty ones I've ever read. His brother is thought to be dead but, he finds out he isn't. Then his brother kills himself and a few Morlocks but, they really went to another world. His sister is trapped in Limbo comes back older then becomes a child again and dies. The KGB kills his folks. He cheats on Kitty and they break up. He goes bad then changes his mind and becomes good again and tries to get back with Kitty. After all the shit Colossus has been thru it's best that the poor guy stays dead.
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Colossus is one of the more popular X-Men I have no doubt in my mind that he will be back sooner or later, maybe just in time for X3, since hes supposed to have a bigger role in that movie.

After all the shit Colossus has been thru it's best that the poor guy stays dead. I agree that Colossus should stay dead. His sacrifice was such a great comics moment and was done really, really well. One of the best single X-Men issues of the last few years, his death actually meant something and you felt his sacrifice was not in vain. So to bring him back would cheapen it all. And I totally forgot about Colossus's Brother (Mikhail was it?), another character I hate with a passion. So make it a second ammendment to the first ammendment I made to Marvel's first Commandment : "Only Bucky, PSYLOCKE, AND COLOSSUS'S BROTHER stays dead." Vyce 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 they need to just kill off a shitload of xmen Agreed. Although I don't have any confidence on Marvel's commitment to making them stay dead (especially since it looks as if they're bringing back Xorn, even though, in reality, he never TRULY existed). Who would you start with? My top three: 1.) Sage. Because I just don't like the character. 2.) Cannonball / Husk's younger brother, the guy who looks exactly like Angel and even has Angel's powers, but is of course, not even a fraction as cool or interesting as the real Angel (and let's stop and think about how questionable it is that Husk is dating Angel, who by coincidence, I'm sure, looks exactly like an older version of this brother of hers - you're going down a dark road here, Chuck Austen). 3.) Staci X. For obvious reasons. I forget, don't we have Joe Kelly to blame for her? Rectify the problem. I think they had the perfect opportunity with Cassandra Nova, but didn't go far enough. She destroyed Genosha, with a few million mutants that none of us were familiar with, but they should have had her clean up all of the scrubs we already know and hate.
