Enigma 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Jeff Hardy is expected to be at the Impact! tapings next week. Those who attended the tapings said the promotion plugged his appearance against A.J. Styles on the PPV big time. They also said it appeared TNA was building to debuting him on the following Impact! show. CREDIT: PWInsider TNA's policy is that only wrestlers with a contract will appear on the Impact show, so this means they may have inked Hardy.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Yay. Or not. As long as tehy don't give him the God push (which they might) it's cool. I just hope he doesn't kill the X-Division.
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Maybe he and Rodman will feud for the belt...God, I'm starting to give up on this company.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted June 25, 2004 TNA needs to realize that Jeff is not in the WWE for a reason. And, when you consider that Vince, by all accounts, LIKED the kid --- it wasn't due to his shoddy ringwork. -=Mike
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Especially because him and AJ wasn't as bad as I was expecting I would say that I agree with Mike on this one. There are plenty of other reasons NOT to hire Jeff besides his in ring work.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Maybe their trying to get allof his marks to buy the PPV. He does have a killer fan following. Not that i'm for bringign him in, just showing the other side of things.
Magus 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 AJ vs. Jeff wasn't terrible, but that's mainly b/c we had AJ in there, and TNA did the smart thing (probably by accident) and didn't let the match go for too long. unless Hardy has magically gotten better, he'll be stinking up the ring in no time. personally, i think Hardy could be a good upper midcarder if they push him as a brawler who can pull out some highspots. will they push him that way? probably not. along with Rodman, this is just another thing to make me lose faith in this shitty company. Wrestling Reinvented, my ass. more like WCW Reinvented.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Holding off debuting Hardy on Impact is a smart move, IMO. A) It makes people who didn't order the PPV feel like they missed something and Hardy fans who heard he would be in TNA, and thus watched Impact, will have to watch next week's show as well, giving them a chance to become hooked on the product. Guest Ronnie755 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 "-Jeff Hardy missed his first flight to Nashville yesterday and there was concern late that he wouldn't get there in time. They were scrambling to come up with an alternative plan that wouldn't be a huge letdown, but he showed up before any panic moves were made. " From the Torch site. Vyce 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Whoo boy. I'm not thrilled with them signing him, as he's definitely a guy where, at this point in his life / career, the bad outweighs the good, BUT - for the sake of optimism - I'm going to hope that only having to wrestle once, maybe twice a week will keep him reasonably focused. If he only works one date a week, then perhaps he won't burn out so quickly or downward spiral into his usual routine. Yeah, I know, wishful thinking. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted June 25, 2004 This is one of those unfortunate situations that comes with trying to draw in a new audience with Impact. While personally I can't stand Hardy and wish TNA hadn't hired him, I still can't blame them for doing it. The guy had a following in the WWF and could help bring more people to TNA. If they were going to bring in a WWF guy now I sadly have to say that given the current choices with Spanky, O'Haire and Kanyon that Hardy ::shudders:: makes the most sense business wise. Though he didn't look too bad on Wednesday so maybe he'll not totally suck every week. Probably not though as it seems it's almost too much to ask to keep him from blowing spots. Guest tnamark Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Is Hardy's drug problem with painkillers or harder drugs? I had heard coke somewhere but I thought that was just a rumor.

Spanky and Kanyon reportedly have really long no-compete clauses which keeps them out of TNA's hands until July. O'Haire's taking a break from wrestling for now. Guest tnamark Report post Posted June 25, 2004 O'Haire should take that time to lose some weight so that he can get his agility back and go up top to do the swanton bomb again.

Spanky was issued a longer no-compete because he quit instead of being fired. His lasted for 6 months.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 If Jeff has cleaned up or straightened up, this could be great news for TNA. I hate the guy but he has a following of sheep (yes, they are sheep...make ECW fans look well balanced and I was an ECW mark) so he could be good news. The bad news if he isn't in good shape mentally, they could be the ones holding his parachute while he goes down in flames. They are risking it but it seems like a risk worth taking. 60/40 this will blow up in their face though.
Guest Donners Report post Posted June 26, 2004 There's six threads about Jeff on TNA at a local markish wrestling forum, so he's at least getting some attention for the company. You certainly could do worse than that. As for the no-complete clauses, I thought Kanyon only had 90-days, which would have expired months ago. Even if Spanky has 6 months for quitting, he has worked for RoH. Is WWE incorporating anti-TNA clauses now?
Jericho2000Mark 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2004 personally, i think Hardy could be a good upper midcarder if they push him as a brawler who can pull out some highspots. What?! Hardy's punches are worse than RVD's! He punches like a 9 year old girl... He's probably one of the worst brawlers in all of wrestling. The only thing he has going for him(other than the legions of toothless fat chicks and 13 year old Yard Tards who worship the ground he walks on) ARE his spots, which aren't that impressive when compared to the likes of Styles, Ki, Red, Daniels, Skipper, Sabin and most of the X Division.
Magus 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2004 you have a point, even though i don't see too much wrong with Hardy's punches. the thing about it is, Hardy IS a spotmonkey, but there's no way he can keep up with the X Division guys. the best place for him is up against heavyweights and such.
Guest JacK Report post Posted June 26, 2004 Ok . . . first off the X-Division is about spots and thus spot-monkey's fit in ok . . . second, I don't even *like* Jeff Hardy, and I both *one* marked out like a little bitch (even though I only saw that match) and enjoyed the match . . . so it's definatly a plus, especially if it's only for the short term. And if it's not, jobbing him to un-over guys will be a plus if he's there for the long term.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2004 They are trying to bring in that 18-34 year old gay male demographic.
Guest JacK Report post Posted June 26, 2004 Hey that's not only bigortry but bigotry . . . I mean I was out at gay bars last night . . . but a) not one of the people there were Hardy, and b) I was making out with a chick though I feel bad cause she has a boyfriend and c) I'm always drunk so I cry and I want to die *just* like in the charmed song. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2004 Hardy still has the kind of name-value to bring in his diehard fans' interest. And while that's not going to be a drastic amount of people, it will be an amount of people nonetheless. Plus, the very fact we're discussing it shows they're trying to catch our attentions...rather than signing random Wildside guy who perhaps three people out of every 10,000 wrestling fans have heard of. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2004 Jeff Hardy's not the greatest wrestler in the world. But he was seemingly coherent enough against Styles, has music (which is awful) that I still like, and is better than some of the guys on the roster. As long as he's staying clean and tyring hard, good for TNA!

Not a good sign. Yeah, but we don't know why he was late. They said he missed his original flight to Nashville, but we have no idea why, so let's not tag him for that until we know details.
