TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 I'm at work and won't be able to watch until I get home, but I figured I'd go ahead and get the discussion rolling. Here's today's line-up, for those of you who haven't seen the other thread: Primetime & Amazing Red & Chris Sabin vs. Miyamoto & Kazarian & ??? "Irish" Pat Kinney vs. "Alpha Male" Monty Brown America's Most Wanted vs. Team Canada A.J. Styles & D-Lo Brown vs. Abyss & Dallas. They also addressed the controversial finish of the NWA World Title match the night before. I can't wait to see this show. From the line-up, it sounds like it was the best show since the debut. I'm especially excited to see what AMW/Team Canada can come up with and I'll admit, I mark for D'Lo. It'll be interesting to see how they address the World Title situation after all the heat they took for Wednesday. I'll definitely be watching as soon as I get home. Guest Goodear Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Its amazing just how fast TNA has sunk into a formula for these shows. 1) Multi-Man X-Division thing to open and hype up the crowd which will include at least two of the following Skipper, Shane, Sabin, Garza or The Amazing Red. 2) Squash match to establish either Monty or Abyss as a monster 3) Tag Match with either AMW or The Naturals 4) Jeff Jarrett shows up (OMG SPOILERS) 5) Main Event with AJ Styles in it

TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 I forgot the show was on again this week. Does Fox Sports run commercials for Impact? I don't believe so. The only time I've seen the commercial anywhere on TV was during a recent RAW, which I'm sure was TNA's doing. I don't understand why Fox wouldn't run commercials on the network, its not like it would cost them anything. And God knows they run enough ads for I, Max. HandofFate 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Ok...was it just me or did Red seem to BOTCH 2 or 3 spots? He botched the wheelbarrow/arm drag to Nosawa; it seemed like he botched flying off the turnbuckle, but the announcers played it off as Kazarian shook the ropes; and he botched the top rope clothesline to Kazarian. He got NO distance on it. It almost seemed like he did the old Mad Mikey move the School Yard or something...not sure. I always thought that people made him seem like way more of a spot blower than he actually did, but after that 6-man match....I don't know. Other than that, it was a nice match. I give it **. Would be more without The Amazing Spot Blower screwing up. Very good work from Sabin...as usual. Everyone did their part to get the crowd hyped and going. A good way to start off the show...if you can forget the HORRIBLE looking wheelbarrow/armdrag.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 The 6 man tags are fun. I don't mind it. It's a great way to get the crowd pumping. I'm not sure if Red messed up on that "Kazarian shook the ropes" move or not, they didn't show the full picture. I enjoyed the show. Really none of that illogical crap except for yet ANOTHER cliffhanger for the world title.
Fro 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 This was probably their worst show yet, although it's still worth watching. AJ and Abyss work really well together but the main event wasn't great with Dallas stinking up part of it. Team Canada v.s. AMW was good once it got going. The Monty Brown squash was bad and Red blowing all those spots really hurt the opening 6-man (which was sloppy). If I didn't read the PPV reports, I'd have a lot of trouble figuring out what is even going on as far as the feuds go. Still entertaining to watch though. razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 How do they expect to get ratings and new fans if nobody knows that it is on? TNA should have its "big name" stars make appearences on the I, Max and Best Damn Sports Show to promote Impact. Hell Max Kellerman likes to make pop culture reference all the time on his show. Would it hurt to have a few topics about NWA TNA? AJ Styles should be pushed as the greatest wrestler in the company........Styles should have all of the belts. AJ & D-Lo could beat the AMW for the tag team titles and Jarret for the NWA Heavyweight title then set up a long feud of Styles vs Jarret vs the good member of AMW. I am disappointed that I missed the X Match at the beginging of the show since I wanted to see Nosawa. The AJ Styles & D-Lo Brown match was entertaining even though they blew a few spots. Would it hurt to have a few topics about NWA TNA? That's the problem with their deal. FSN has NO benefit in promoting the show whatsoever --- hell, their promotion helps TNA, not FSN whatsoever. And, given that Max is a boxing guy, I imagine he'd shit on wrestling. -=Mike
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted June 25, 2004 FSN should promote them since God knows they run enough Best Damned ads during TNA every week. And they should promote a show that does better than either of their flagship shows. Ratings are ratings.

And they should promote a show that does better than either of their flagship shows. Ratings are ratings. In this case, ratings aren't ratings. The deal TNA has is that TNA buys the time slot and keeps all of the ad revenue. So, FSN gets no bonus if TNA's ratings go up. However, they will buy ad time from TNA to promote FSN programming, which might give them money. If FSN got any money from ads on TNA programming, they'd promote it a lot. But they don't. -=Mike
Silence 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 I was finally able to watch Impact after getting Dish Network hooked up to the VCR, but Team Canada vs. AMW and the 6-man X-Division match (though marred by Red's sloppy spots) were the only two matches I actually liked. razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 So Mike you're saying that FSN is treating TNA NWA Impact as an informercial and only using it as timeslot filler? I don't care who pays or profits from this show but somebody needs to run commercials to promote it.

If they ran ads for it, they'd have to advertise ALL of the paid programming that overpopulates FSN. -=Mike
razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 A few commercials on the TV Guide Channel could'nt hurt. Impact needs to be promoted outside of FSN. Hell if WWE can get on ESPN (Lesnar) and Entertainment Tonight (Eddie Guerrero) then NWA TNA needs to do the same. Jeff Jarret, Ken Shamrock, Raven, AJ Styles, Mike Tenay, Russo need to start hitting the road to promote the company.

TNA is working with a limited budget and a national mentality that the WWE is wrestling. As has been mentioned in the past, when WCW was dominating, the media STILL called them WWF most of the time. -=Mike
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted June 26, 2004 I enjoyed the show a lot. Other than Red ruining the opener all the matches were solid this week and Brown/Kenney was surprising watchable. AMW/Team Canada and the ME were solid and very fun for the most part.
Guest Donners Report post Posted June 26, 2004 Apparently Billy Gunn, Charlie Haas and Jackie Gayda were at the show. It's good to see the Elite Guard is still around - I want them to get in the ring again soon.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2004 I liked this week's show alot. It moved better than the last two editions and seemed more like an event. My thoughts: The opener was a fun match other than Red blowing all his spots. Sabin is awesome and deserves a real push and Skipper is decent as well. I'm so mad that Kazarian has gotten lost in the shuffle however, as I was really enjoying his character prior to AJ's return to the X Division. The squash match was eh. I want Simon Diamond back! I've tried to give "Irish" Pat Kenney a chance, but I miss heel Simon. I understood them wanting to put Monty over here since he's being elevated to the World Title Scene and at least they gave Kenney more offense than they gave Siaki. I really liked the AMW/Team Canada match. Those teams worked really well together and I'm sure that suplex spot impressed a few newer viewers. I'm glad they appear to be gearing up to push Team Canada in the tag division and I say they should strike while the iron is hot and put the belts on them. The Jarrett/Zbysco promo was better than the Jarrett/Dusty promo because you can still understand Larry. I liked that they used him as the judge this week, so they can start to put over that it could be anybody. But does being the judge mean that you have to get El Kabong-ed by JJ? If so, I definitely wouldn't want the job. I like the ME event as well, but I'm a mark for AJ and D'Lo, but separately and as a team and I like Abyss as well. Hell, Dallas is even growing on me. The match was well done with each guy looking good. The post-match beatdown did a good job on putting heat on the respective matches for the PPV, which is the point of the show. I was looking for Erik Watts to come to the faces' aid, but that was not to be.
