Kurt Angle Mark Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 By Dave Scherer According to a number of people in various areas of WWE, Vince McMahon was not at tonight’s PPV due a bad internal infection that he is suffering from. He is on some serious medication and thus could not come to the event. He was in touch with his management team all day via phone. In McMahon’s absence, Stephanie and Shane McMahon, Triple H, Jim Ross and Kevin Dunn ran the show. I have heard from a number of people that Stephanie in particular relished the chance to be in the lead role backstage tonight. According to Mike Johnson, the last PPV Vince missed was King Of The Ring 1994 due to neck surgery.
Guest JRE Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 That sucks he had an "internal infection." It sucked even more when "his satellite feed died" The medications explain the title change
Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 In McMahon’s absence, Stephanie and Shane McMahon, Triple H, Jim Ross and Kevin Dunn ran the show. Now, I didn't see the show, but there's a group that couldn't possibly do anything good.
Kizzo Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Now I can see why Vince is needed....its bad when he's there..but when he is gone...the worst will come.... That's why the WWE needs a good backup person...Steph is the person next in charge(creative wise).....I wonder how well the backstage went...
Guest Choken One Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 was it internal injuries or "INTERNAL INJURIES"?
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 I wonder if Mr. Socko visited him?
iliketurtles Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 I wonder if he has tape around his ribs. And the title change/death of Paul Bearer must be because of the meds.
NoCalMike Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 In McMahon’s absence, Stephanie and Shane McMahon, Triple H, Jim Ross and Kevin Dunn ran the show. Now, I know it pains us to see this list of folks in charge, but there is ONE obvious name in there that has no fucking business having anything to do with helping to run the smackdown show.

And everyone wonders why RAW has been head-and-shoulders above Smackdown the past couple of months! Damn Triple H!
Art Sandusky Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Well, it was Kevin Dunn who advocated the necrophilia angle, so killing Paul Bearer mafia-style was probably his idea. Vince not being there explained a few small things, like the two trainwreck matches (Gunn/Kenzo and Stay-Puft/Holly) going way too long for their intended point.
Jobber of the Week Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Now I can see why Vince is needed....its bad when he's there..but when he is gone...the worst will come.... That's why the WWE needs a good backup person...Steph is the person next in charge(creative wise).....I wonder how well the backstage went... Vince kind of runs several roles. While he claims he could be hit by a bus and the business would move on without him the next day, someone would have to take on a new job of making sure the left hand knows what the right hand is doing. It's not a complete loss should he ever go, though assuming it's not some freak accident that takes out Linda, too. She does most of the business/ownership roles anymore it seems, and she's probably still got some more time left on her ticker.
Art Sandusky Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 WWE would be fucked up for a year plus if Vince died without much warning. And as much as people here say they hate the guy and have wished things on him even I won't wish on people I don't like, the day he goes will have everyone saying how they already miss him, wish he hadn't gone, etc. I really hope he turns out okay. Vince, with as many boneheaded moves he may make, knows the business better than any other person alive.
Guest Repo Man Reborn Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 I wonder if he has tape around his ribs. I marked out for this. Bradshaw is living proof that sucking off the right people in your interenet column pays off.
haVoc Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Does this mean Steph could be running Raw tonight?
Gary Floyd Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 I wonder if Mr. Socko visited him? I wonder if an unemployed "Stone Cold" Steve Austin came by and sodamized Vince with plastic tubing.
Kizzo Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Does this mean Steph could be running Raw tonight? Yep...it will be her...Kevin Dunn...Shane McMahon and the head writer of RAW...Brian Gerwitz running the show tonight....along with Jim Ross... I'm actually looking forward to this show(to see how everything screws up lol...hell they may surprise me)...I know Vince McMahon will probaly be phoning in..giving directons....but the creative crew are on there own tonight...unless Vince got better and is able to come...remember RAW is his baby
EdwardKnoxII Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 - The general feeling backstage among those outside of WWE management was that the PPV last night was horrible. [PWInsider.com] - Triple H did work the RAW brand house show on Sunday afternoon before catching a flight to Norfolk to attend the Great American Bash PPV. Triple H is a key member of WWE's management team now and will likely attend every Smackdown PPV. [PWInsider.com]

haVoc Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Vince McMahon apparently liked the show last night. He did not attend due to an internal infection he is suffering from, but was in constant contact with management via phone. - The Paul Bearer angle was done using a stunt double during the live shots. Another version featuring Paul Bearer was shot in the afternoon and then superimposed. - Dave Lagana took last week off but returned last night at the PPV. - Stephanie McMahon was the main person in charge last night. Shane McMahon helped lay out the Guerrero/JBL match. Jim Ross handled the announcing. Kevin Dunn handled the production. Triple H basically did a little of everything. - Bruce Prichard was the main man behind the Undertaker/Dudley Boyz/Paul Bearer segment. - Kurt Angle is expected to return soon and play a role at Summerslam. The Amazing Rando Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 Vince was probably suffering from hot flashes after his long day in Hell preparing the zambonis for the freeze-over. I'll bet HHH loved the show, since it made Raw look THAT much better.
King Cucaracha Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 - Bruce Prichard was the main man behind the Undertaker/Dudley Boyz/Paul Bearer segment. *sighs* What a way to enhance your reputation.
Kizzo Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Bruce Prichard was the main man behind the Undertaker/Dudley Boyz/Paul Bearer segment. I should have known the Pritchard was in charge of this...

I was at the show yesterday (I was wondering how HHH made it to Norfolk with the show ending around 5). The one thing I hated was that Lita, Bischoff and Benoit all said "Tonight" when they talked on the mic instead of "this afternoon" so I guess they aren't very used to afternoon shows.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Credit: Wade Keller Vince McMahon wasn't present at last night's Great American Bash as he is being treated for diverticulitis. He spent three days in the hospital and will not be able to attend Raw of Smackdown this week. The situation is said to not be serious, but will it take several days for him to recover enough to be in condition to travel again. Diverticulitis occurs when a diverticulum becomes infected. According to DiagnosisHealth.com, "a diverticulum is a pouch or a pocket-like opening in the bowel wall, usually in the colon. The pouch is formed by the hernia of superficial layers of the colon through the weak points in the bowel wall. High fiber diet appears to protect against formation of such pouches... In about 25% of patients with painful diverticular disease, a small sized hole develops in the bowel wall through the diverticulum leading to infection and inflammation around the colon. This complication is known as diverticulitis. The infection usually stays localized, but can spread into the abdomen causing severe diverticulitis. Senior citizens are prone to the more serious form, especially if they are taking medications that increase susceptibility to infection. Patients develop pain in the lower, left part of the abdomen, along with fever and other signs of infection. A majority of patients report nausea, vomiting, distended abdomen or recent 'constipation.' Acute inflammation in the colon may also affectadjacent organs like the bladder, causing painful or increased urination... Treatment of mild diverticulitis includes liquid diet and oral antibiotics. Hospitalization and intravenous medications are needed in severe cases. Most patients respond to medical treatment within 2-3 days. However, antibiotics are continued for 10-14 days. Colonoscopy is performed a few weeks after the resolution of an acute episode of diverticulitis to exclude any cancer that may be present in as many as 10% of these cases. The need for surgery during an acute episode of diverticulitis is rare, but may be required for patients who fail to improve with medical therapy. Diverticulitis recurs in 25% of cases after the first episode and in 50% of cases after the second episode. Surgery is indicated in such patients."
benoit4hor Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Even Vince's colon was inflamed about giving the belt to Bradshaw.
