I managed to beat the Crossface challenge with Rock in about a 5 minute match. What difficulty are you on Show?

Normal. I guess I just suck at button mashers. I'll try Sturgis' suggestion though. And maybe Andre the Giant...

The CAB feature seems pointless unless you're playing with two memory cards against a friend, which is the only way that titles can actually change hands, because of the CPU always being the Champion even after you beat the opponent for the title in Create-a-PPV mode.

I dont know if I am retarded or what, but I can't get into the Chalanges. Do I need to unlock all of the old charicters or something? I go to shopzone, then I follow the steps. But once I get to the screen, it would let me to any of the chalanges. What gives?

Ha! I was stumped on this too...

Anyway, all challenges must be completed in exhibition mode, be it singles, Rumble, or Elimination Chamber.

Use the guidelines listed on each specific challenge page to know what you must do ("jump through the rings", so to speak).

Yeah, follow the rules EXACTLY in exhibition matches (some require a certain difficulty and a certain match, etc).

Advice: If you just want to get them finished, you can always use the women as an opponent.

Also, the rules must all be defaulted. So if you've got entrances turned off, it may not work. And yeah, best way to do it is to take advantage of shortcuts...like using Big Show in the 3 on 1 match against the Divas.

Great, now that we've said something next year that will be taken out.

I like the challenges, though they could have been more streamlined if they had been incorporated into the season mode somehow.

The absence of titles really hurts this game to me, since there are less things to shoot for in season mode. The create-a-belt mode is fine, but if they had also incorporated them into season mode, it would have made for a more customizable experience. The lack of storylines hurts the game as well. As trite as they were at times, the multiple storylines in HCTP made the gameplay much more interesting.

I have to say that putting voiceovers in the game took away from the overall experience that its predecessor had. I'm disappointed, but not as much as I could have been.

Why would they start listening to us now?

So the can suck more fun out of us.

I played Rumble Roses today, and the story mode is better then SVR. What the hell?

I found the best move to have in a Rumble match is the tossing powerbomb (where you run three steps, then toss the guy from the powerbomb position. I think this is the Vaderbomb?). You just toss the guy right out. Using that move, I won the Rumble on my frist try for the first time.

What wrestler/s have the Vaderbomb in there normal arsenal of moves? Or was it a CAW you created?

Besides having a MUCH larger roster, I'd like for there to be a training mode in the next game.

Oh, and I would also like it if it was easier to reverse finishers and then apply a finisher yourself. The wrestlers in the game also need to "sell" more; i.e. they shouldn't get right up after being repeatedly hit with a ladder. In short, less arcade-style playing and more chain-wrestling.

My biggest gripe is the stupid and RIDICULOUSLY repetitive AI. You fight a dirty wrestler, and even if you're still standing or whatnot, they'll go and remove every turnbuckle padding. You could be coming at them with an AK-47 and they'd still turn around and go for the padding.

As far as repetitiveness, the computer does THE SAME MOVES the entire match. You fight Hardcore Holly, and all he'll do are stomps and his hammerlock slam. Fucking ridiculous.

It's finally been released here in Australia and I've overcome all temptations. Usually, I'll cave regardless of how bad the game is made out to be when it is something like a wrestling title. It's pretty darn cheap here too. However I think I'll use the cash on something worthwhile, like VF4:Evo or something, which I've been meaning to buy for months.

how can I switch my CAW from Raw to Smackdown? I've ended the season (even dropped the title) and it still says I'm entered in a season.

EDIT: as soon as I posted this, I figured out how. Nevermind.

Amen on the AI. I am up to playing the game with my second CAW (who is earning XP for my Low-Ki CAW) on Hard, and a match with Hardcore Holly is just a brain-killer for sure.

I found myself longing for HCTP and I started playing that, even finishing the season with my Hercules CAW.

Good thing I make a decent living, because I would have been a lot more pissed off about the game if I was making minimum wage.

I rented this last night. It was a great rental, but I'll be fuckin' damned if I'd ever pay full price for this thing. In the few hours I spent with it, I ran through season mode (including a few 4-week tries, which resulted in repetition of storylines on both brands. Fuck you, Yukes), which was somewhat entertaining for one run through before becoming stale, old and unappealing.

The voice-overs are a total waste of space, and it really, really shows. I won't sit here and rant, because twenty odd others have done the same and it's the last thing anyone wants to read anyway.

Heaps of the fun little additions were neat, but really didn't add much at all.

So, for those on the borderline, just rent the damn thing for a few nights, it's not worth full price.

Oh, and other than his entrance, Bret Hart sucks.

Agreed about Bret Hart. When did Bret ever copy HBK and do the flying forearm and nip up?

Never. Yukes are lazy bastards and just gave Bret a carbon-copy of HBK's moveset while changing the finisher. Luckily you can edit movesets, and I ended up editing pretty much everyones, sadly. Yukes doesn't know their wrestling quite like the Fire Pro guys...

On another note, I'm fucking bored with this game already. I gave up trying to get XP for my CAWs, as it takes so goddamn long and I'm not willing to play another season. Never got to the create a belt either because it costs so fucking much, and I've been informed I'm not missing much. I'm kicking myself now for deleting my HCTP files on my memory card to make room for SvR...

I'm glad I never edited the files on my memory card for HCTP. After reading the reviews for SvR and playing it, I'm glad I didn't.

I didn't like HCTP, but shockingly I do like this one. Yeah, I have my gripes: there are move set issues (but I don't mind correcting them); the patterns in CAW suck unless you want to make a patriotic wrestler, a hippie wrestler, or a really tacky-dressed wrestler; the roster is disappointing; some little things have been taken out; the attributes still suck (the upper midcarders and main eventers have high ratings in damn near every category); story mode is weaker than HCTP...but...

It has lots of positive gameplay enhancements. I like: the heel/face dynamic finally playing a role in gameplay; most of the HCTP enhancements like body-specific damage return; there's tons of room to make CAWs; small wrestlers are no longer the complete bitches of hosses; there's a trick to bypass individually building up CAWs, so I can make my CAWs have any stats I choose; Challenge Mode is hella fun; weapon use is more realistic, wrestlers sell and move better IMO; various little tweaks that make it feel more solid...

and Online play. Yeah, the online play is rather bare bones and often has lag, but it's a real shot in the arm for the series. The major complaint I have with the game, the roster, can be fixed with CAW (even if the CAWs may not be as close to perfect as they should be).

If you loved HCTP, I can see how you might be disappointed, but as somebody who was playing SYM in its stead when I didn't like it, it's a plenty acceptable step up. Now FIX THE STAT SYSTEM! IT SUCKS, YUKES!

But, I don't regret skipping HCTP, then picking this up used (after trade in credit I got it for 30 bucks), plus I can play against a friend who just moved to Florida recently. ;)

Does anyone think this game would be decent if ported to PC?

Online probably would be a hell of alot better and people could make graphic add-ons for the CAW and default wrestlers. Unlimited CAWs and imported music would be nice which seems to be a limitation of the PS2.
