Richard Hidalgo since joining the Mets:

.327 BA 1.025 OPS 5 HR 10 RBI

They got this guy for David Weathers? So far, although only a small sample of games, it has been a steal for the Mets.

I don't think Mike Mussina is sad he won't see him again this year., 3 homers in 7 ABs vs The Moose

Os/Phillies tied at 6 top of the 12th

I think both teams are down to 1 pitcher in the bullpen, but the bullpens for both teams have been strong (each has only allowed 1 run).

Newhan just got his 3rd hit so the Os have something going on in the 12th..

To the top of the 13th (Os had the bases loaded last inning and couldn't score, Phillies had a runner on 3rd and couldn't get him home)

Neither team has anyone else left on the bench and only starters are left for pitchers.

UPDATE:

Eddy Rodriguez strikes out Thome and Burrell (5 Ks) to get out of a jam and send the game to the the 14th.

The amazing thing is the crowd has stayed because of a fireworks show after the game.

Update #2

Tejada gunned down at the plate to end the top of the 14th.

I was reminded that the Phillies and Orioles went 17 innings last year at Camden Yards.

Tejada with an awesome throw to get the runner out at first with the bases loaded to end the 14th.

They get a break tonight.

Besides, it's not like Yanks/Mets means anything anymore anyway. I missed the game. It's no worse than a loss to Baltimore.

Longest Orioles game (time wise) ever! 5:50 and counting

Oh, crap.

That means the Yanks and O's will have to turn in a six hour affair to make up for such a travesty (A game length record for the Orioles that doesn't involve the Yankees.)

I believe there was a period where the two teams held the longest 9 inning game under some type of circumstances, along with some American league length record.

I'm not a huge fan of Farns or Patterson, but you drop them for Nomar and then you've got a big gap in center and the end of the pen. Patterson's been better as of late and unless they're going to go out and grab a centerfielder, trading away Corey would be senseless. Same goes for Farns, who believe it or not, has been one of the more reliable guys in there at times, scary as that may be.

who would you start at the mound for each?

I'm convinced Clemens is Starting simply for the Novelty of being Clemens (thats sells alone) along with his age and being the hometowner...and the sell of a Clemens-Piazza battery.

Not sure about the AL.

I'd say Schilling just for the sake of saying Schilling.

Hollandsworth was great filling in for Sammy in the outfield. I just think the Cubs should try to get Nomar, because shortstop is our biggest gap.

Gordon over Vazquez, if you have to pick one.

BIG win for the Mets in a Great game today...Fabulous back and forth game today....huge intensity by both teams...1/1/2 backk

I listened to the game at the beach today. Were the jackass' last two strikes to Posada as bad as they sounded?

They were bad. Really bad. We got the game because of the Sox/Cubs rain delay, and my goodness MLB has some serious problems with their umpires this year.

Speaking of the Chicago game, it was just officially called about 5 minutes ago, so the Cubs won it in 6 innings.

In a way, I was almost hoping they weren't. Now I'm going to have to go ballistic.

I think the 2nd strike was a good call, but I thought the 3rd one was a little low.

Maybe if Torre hadn't put Sturtze in there in the 9th they would have won, anyway.

He had the wonderful choice of picking between Sturtze and Prinz. And I don't even know how available Prinz was.

In a situation like that, you use your best reliever. Period. But no, because of the save stat, most managers are convinced you wait to use your closer for the very end. I can see why most feel that way, but why not put out your best pitcher while the game's still happening instead of waiting for a situation that may not even come?

Why not Rivera?

They mentioned something about his arm bothering him or something and that he couldn't get loose.
