July - LTP: This Ain't Oz

Recommended Posts

Let's put it like this.

I'm in Atlanta for a friend's wedding along with celebrating 1 year of engagement with my fiancee. I won't be posting anything that weekend. That's also when my classes end, so any free time I get that weekend, will be on school. That's why I said July 31st/Aug 1st.

I have no problem with anyone wanting to take over the reigns for this PPV and post it on the 24/25. I just know I can't do it then.

Peace.

=)

The 31st is great with me, hehe...I won't have to rush through finishing the EoD Tournament.

As for how to cover on HeldDOWN~!...how about, since the PPV starts a day early, we have HeldDOWN~! be very WCW Worldwide-esque...3 or 4 jobber matches, and then some backstage hype interviews "in the locker room"...whaddya think?

Being a WCW mark, especially early '90s aka before Hogan, that sounds good to me.

And I'll pretend to say "you're welcome." Pretending is so fun! :)

Seriously though, they were Saturday-morning wrestling shows (at least they ran Saturdays here) that were pretty much what PFL described--jobber matches, control centers featuring studio promos hyping either PPVs or local live events, the occasional in-ring interview, and a feature match between two non-jobbers.

Hoff would love to cut a promo and maybe even put some jobbers through a table as a tune-up. Seriously, I think that's a cool idea.

Thank you for the answer. This time I mean it!

I remember Tony actually ran an OAOAST show called WCW Worldwide (Or was it WCW Saturday Night?) way back when things were fairly new.

It featured such great matches as Mystery Eskimo vs. David Arquette, and the resulting tag match of Eskimo/Derek the Fish vs. David Arquette/Courtney Cox.

I remember Tony actually ran an OAOAST show called WCW Worldwide (Or was it WCW Saturday Night?) way back when things were fairly new.

It was called World Championship Wrestling, named after the real program of the same name before Turner decided to name his newly bought promotion (from JCP Promotions) WCW. The show ran for about 5 weeks before getting canned because of the effort it took to produce it (I think I wrote most of the show with a few guys pitching in occassionally).

The shows can be located in OAOAST Home Entertainment. When we moved back to TSM, Alf did a rush job and cut and pasted the shows from VM to HE, cutting off portions of shows (GAB 2002 being one of them).

NIce touch with the colors there, NY. :)

So are we going with the 31st and 1st then?

So, as I understand it, this will be the layout (I need it for the Audio Preview, so if I have anything wrong, please say so):

Night 1:

No Holds Barred

The Parka vs. J. Arthur Edwards

Hell’s Hitmen vs. The Global Party Exchange

Tuxedo match

Jivin' J.R. vs. Jim Cornette

PLUS the First Round Emperor of Death Tournament matches (7 in all)

Night 2:

OAOAST Italian Championship – Hell in a Cell

Drek Stone © vs. The Mad Cappa

OAOAST Tag Team Championship

Black T © vs. The New New Midnight Express

The Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and FINAL of the Emperor of Death Tournament

MAIN EVENT:

OAOAST World Heavyweight Championship

Zack Malibu © vs. Crystal

2 things:

1)Is Caboose still available for commentary when the main event on night 2 rolls around?

2)Don't forget that their is going to be the "indoor screening" during night 2 when it's in the prison yard. I did add bits of that to what I have written so far, so for continuity's sake, if you have a night 2 match, just make mention of "the indoor crowd is going wild" or some such nonsense.

Thanks gang.

What do you mean by "indoor screening"? And saying "the indoor crowd" would sound odd. Just don't mention it being outside. Write it like you normally would an indoor event.

Why is it screened in anyway? Why not just do it outside?

What?

The actual second day event takes place outdoors. But fans on the inside will be able to watch it on video screens. Hence the term "indoor screening". Zack wants you to mention the indoor crowd so he doesn't look crazy! Well, to late for that!

Oh ok...he made it sound like the courtyard would be screened in to me. The way he worded it made it sound that way.

Anyway it would seem to me that there would be enough room for fans on the second day. If anything a screening would be needed for the first day since there's hardly any room in the cell block and some fans wouldn't get in.

I'm interested in seeing how a Hell in a Cell match will work outside. Don't those have to be lowered from a ceiling or something?

Guys just remember that this being the first two night PPV it would be nice to have it actually posted on Saturday and Sunday. The fact that there are so many matches for this PPV is going to make it hard, but let's try to get our stuff turned in as on time as we can to help SJ out.
