Cabana Leaves IWA Mid-South

Recommended Posts

From Colt Cabana's website:

Colt Cabana has parted all ties from IWA Midsouth.

Eh, he's been sports-entertainmentized, so it's not that big of a loss personally. But, I'm sure there's more than one person who'll be willing to be personally effected by Cabana leaving IWA.

I've always liked Cabana. And I've liked IWA more the last few years than I use to.

But is IWA going anywhere? Other then giving him a good oponent to work with usually does he really benifit that much working there?

Well this kinda sucks for IWA-MS.....but it's not like they couldn't easily find someone to replace him. I would be curious to know why he announced this the way he did though..........

I love Colt, but IWA-MS will obviously be fine. I just wonder what caused it, and why he'd announce he's "severing all ties". Weird.

From Mike Johnson's 6/28 column on the ROH/RF split...

"RF Video's current staff (Doug Gentry and Joe Ferrara) will continue to film and sell videos of different promotions past and present including ECW (which they own a large library of shows they filmed during that promotion's run), the ECWA, CZW, IWA Mid-South, and different independent and Japanese wrestling promotions."

I believe IWA-MS is the only one of the above that Cabana works for. Maybe he's just refusing to work for a company that allows Feinstein to make a living in the biz.

I thought the full rights to the ECW library were McMahon's? Not like that stopped that bootlegging assclown from selling tapes before though, but why announce that they'll still be selling them?

I think RF owns the rights to all the ECW Fancams though since he and/or his staff taped those himself.

Even if that was the case though, wouldn't he have to pay someone some kind of royalty? I couldn't see Heyman allowing RF to videotape their shows for sale without getting something out of it.

Nah, that's not it. RF also sells PWG and Cabana is still working there.

IMO like CM Punk and Chris Hero... Cabana will be back in IWA sometime in the future.

Are they still doing PWG though? I just checked out the RF site, and the newest PWG tape they have is 88 Miles an Hour, which is from March.

Though they do have SD's Evolution 3, I'm not sure the release date on that.

Sadly enough that IS the newest PWG show currently available. So I think they still have a deal with RF to sell the tapes.

Thanks for the info...wonder what the hold-up is.

Is the official PWG the only place to get the DVD's? I'd like to get Tango & Cash, but they're sold out, and I can only find the VHS everywhere else.

Yep it is the only place to buy the DVD, but well... they are now sold out of everything. From what I've heard they have said they will restock the old DVDs once they get caught up on the new DVDs (which could take awhile since they are now 4 shows behind)

But however they did say "Watch for a major anouncement regarding Pro Wrestling Guerrilla DVD's in the next few weeks!" so... that could mean anything. Sorry I couldn't be of more help....

Cabana hasn't been in IWA too often recently, so this doesn't bother me. If he left PWG though, man that would have stunk.

No offense to IWA meant, but wrestlers rarely go much of anywhere there. He's much better off focusing on higher profile promotions like PWG, Ring of Honor, or what looks to be the new bad boy, NJPW-USA.

iwa is like wildside a good place to develop your skills but 9 times out of 10 you make your name on the indys after you leave the fed.

But if it wasn't for IWA Mid-South, no one would've ever heard of C.M. Punk, Chris Hero, or Colt Cabana. And Nate Webb has done pretty good for himself getting a gig with TNA.

Huh? Except for being one of Christopher Daniels's "followers" and getting thrown off a balconey one time, Nate's never even made the PPV. He worked a shitload of jobber matches and got pinned by the Harris brothers more times than I can count, but he hardly got a good deal in TNA.

Yeah, agreed on the TNA thing, it's a shit gig that'll end when TNA axes XPlosion. I DID hear a rumor that D-Ray 3000's spot was originally going to be given to Nate, but the TNA people were in love with the afro, or some stupid shit like that.

However, Nate does have some impressive credentials, at least partially as a result of IWA.
