Movies you wanted to see badly

Recommended Posts

This thread is inspired by the Bad Boys 2 DVD I had the misfortune to buy, I really enjoyed Bad Boys, although it gets worse with each viewing, so I was really looking forward to the sequel, imagine my disappointment when its very boring, very very long, shootouts were poor, and Martin Lawrence was just shit, so any films you waited ages to see, and when you went to see them, actually turned out shit?

Jason X. Ft13th had always been one of my favorite horror film series', and I was chomping at the bit for a new one...and to say I was disappointed would be an under statement. I'm just glad F v. J restored my faith in the series.

Actually, I was disappointed at that too, not because it was a bad film, its just I spent the first hour just thinking, come on, when the fuck are they going to fight

Matrix Reloaded but not Revolutions. I wasn't expecting much from Revolutions, so I wasn't surprised when it sucked the meat missle.

Although I don't think the movie "sucked" I was so hyped to see "Dogma" that when I eventually did it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be...

TOTALLY agree with this. I was kinda half-amped, half-pissed about the concept of Dogma because I'd been trying to write a story for a couple of years that was either going to be about two fallen angels who get kicked out of heaven or two fallen supercriminals who get kicked out of their supervillain group. Then when i was living in the States I saw the trailer and, although miffed that someone beat me to the punch, REALLY wanted to go see...

It was okay. Not actively bad, but I think the whole thing fell pretty flat on the screen. It had the potential to be such a bigger, larger scale, more epic flick - instead it's an entertaining, enjoyable low-budget piece that succeeds more for the interplay of the friends/actors and its "Kevin Smith-ness" rather than successful execution of the idea. Still watch it religiously (ha!) every couple of months, though.

Another flick I saw the trailer for while in the States was Romeo Must Die - I loved the idea of a gang war between yakuza-types and homied-out ganglords. It didn't come out until I was back in the UK, and when I finally got to see it... good lord. It continually amazes me how western filmmakers can make Jet Li - or, in fact, ANY proven and successful Asian superstar (Jackie Chan, Donnie yen...) - look like complete shit.

Stuck on You. I wasn't able to see it in the theatres, so I rented it the day it came out.

I made it probably 35 minutes into it before I shut it off and brought it back. Terrible. Unfunny.

Van Helsing! I knew it wasn't going to be a 5 star movie or anything, but man was that movie teh suxx. waaaaay worse than i thought it was going to be...Spider-Man was another one that just didn't blow me away like I was hoping it would...same with the newer Star Wars movies. I like them but only because it's Star Wars. they could have been loads better...same factor for the last two Matrix movies, though I think the hate on them is a little TOO critical. Overall they were good sci-fi action flicks and Hugo Weaving established Agent Smith as an awesome movie heel...add Blade 2 to the list, that movie sucked teh wang compared to the first one...

I have my doubts about Alien Vs. Predator, something I've been waiting years and years to see...i mean after all it IS directed by Paul "i'm the one responsible for Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and Event Horizon" Anderson...something tells me it will be a huge letdown...

The Ring really dissaponited me, i had been reading that it was super fucking scary, the second coming of horror, etc.

It sucked IMO, maybe because of the hype or something, i'll have to watch it again someday.

The Ring really dissapointed me too. It wasn't scary at all and the whole film just sucked.

Some one was surprised that a Michael Bay directed/Jerry Bruckheimer produced movie sucked?!??!?! Surely you had to, in the back of your mind, know better than that.

"Van Helsing! I knew it wasn't going to be a 5 star movie or anything, but man was that movie teh suxx. waaaaay worse than i thought it was going to be..."

Agreed. I had heard Mr. Mummy wasn't a great director, but never saw much of his stuff and felt the source materials and concept were strong enough to make a good movie...

Holy crap that movie sucked. Oh, and Ebert is a stupid douchebag for giving it 3 stars. I swear the guy is going senile or something.

I have my doubts about Alien Vs. Predator, something I've been waiting years and years to see...i mean after all it IS directed by Paul "i'm the one responsible for Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and Event Horizon" Anderson...something tells me it will be a huge letdown...

There is no chance in hell of it being any good.

Not only is Anderson directing, but he's doing the screen play. It takes place in Antarctica. If you've seen the ads you can tell from the tagline that the people making this have no freakin' idea what the Predators are about.

"Whoever wins...we lose." NO! NO! NO! NO! Predators aren't mindless killing machines. They just crave combat with warriors of all races. If you're not armed, they won't even bother with you unless you were Mike Tyson and came up and punched one square in the face. They've been friends with some humans, even.

If the Aliens would win, we'd be ****ed, but if the Predators win, they'll probably either leave, or head to the Middle East or something. However, they don't want to wipe out the human race or turn them into breeding colonies.

1) The Punisher. The new one. It butchered the comic story and wasted so much time on the neighbors that I wanted to shoot myself. That and John Travolta sucked.

2) Batman Forever & Batman & Robin. I hope I don't need to explain that.

3) Catwoman. I haven't seen it yet, but I know I'll want to walk out. Scratch that, I'll want to run out. Halle Berry will ruin Catwoman the way she ruined Storm.

you're saying you actually want to check this crap out in the first place? my mom tried to put it into perspective for me one time (she's my movie buddy and wants me to go with her): "it IS Halle Berry you know" she says, I say "Mom, I've seen her getting fucked rotten by Billy Bob, I no longer have a need to see her anymore since i know what she looks like naked and getting fucked"

I was really looking forward to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon but when I watched it, it just bored me to tears.

The first Spider-Man was great the first time, but when I watched it on DVD, it wasn't as great.

Dogma was eh, I think there was too much hype and controversy around it that made it seem like it was going to be great.

Kill Bill Vol 1. I wouldn't say I disliked it but it was just like a wrestling match with a few cool spots and no substance underneath. The movie must have done something right though to make so many people like it.

Event Horizon.

I didn't think it would be great, but the trailer was sweet (when he was in the inner panels, and the lights kept flashing)

Terrible movie, I wasn't expecting ****, but better than it was.

Hmph, I've only seen her boobs. :P

Although that being said the only movies she should be in are ones where she's nude and/or having sex. Why'd she get an Oscar again?

For pretending that Billy Bob actually turned her on.

And I was disapointed by Shrek. There was SO much hype for the movie, "BEST CARTOON EVEEEER." I saw it when it came out on DVD and I said "That's it. Monster Inc. was a lot better."

I'm a huge Batman mark, and I have to see it so I can justifiably bash it.

i mean the american version

i think since everyone talked about how good the japanese one was and hyped it alot, and i hadn't seen a good horror movies for quite some time in theaters when it came out i got really excited about it. And then...it sucked.

another one that dissapointed me was The Mummy Returns. The first one was a fun popcorn adventure with good special effects and nice charecters. The second one was just 95% of pure CRAP CGI, the FX totally ruined the movie.

I was REALLY into the Hellraiser movies (even part 3) around the time Hellraiser: Bloodline came out. I didn't get a chance to see it in theaters, it was never on PPV unless I was at school or like 11:30 at night (this was before I'd stay up to 3 in the morning), and Blockbuster was always sold out. The more I waited the more hyped I'd get about seeing it. Then Blockbuster FINALLY had it...and it sucked ASS.

Star Wars: Episode 1. I waited until it had been out awhile to avoid the crowds, which was hard because I really wanted to see it. Finally see it, and was incredibly sad. Had it's moments, but overall I hated it. And I couldn't get Jar Jar's voice out of my head for weeks.

Pearl Harbor would have disappointed me if I hadn't read a review a few days prior and realized it was a love story. After six or seven months of seeing the trailer I was incredibly hyped for it. Thank god at least going in I knew what to expect or I would have killed myself.

Bowling for Clombine. I mean ... come on, indy-media is more reliable than that movie.

Star Wars Episode One. I saw it on TV and I got really, really bored.

Alien 4. Good grief!

Dumb and Dumberer

Even though Carrey and Daniels weren't in it I thougth it'd have the same type of humor. The first movie had me laughing hysterically, but htis movie.....uuuuugh. Horribly unfunny. Just so damn corny.

Independance Day - I was 14 at the time and even then I came out of the movie theatre saying "what a pile of shit"

Mystery Men - Tragically ho-hum

There's Something about Marry - I just didn't laugh that much

All the Batman movies - They were all major dissapointments.
