Guest ShamRock Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 I figured we might as well have one since a couple of people started the favorite movie tournament and best movie tournament. This is a 64 actor/actress tournament and you can nominate up to 10 actors. Nominations end Monday afternoon. My nominees: Robert De Niro Al Pacino Marlon Brando Edward Norton Kevin Spacey Russell Crowe Gary Oldman Gregory Peck Morgan Freeman Denzel Washington
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 EDIT: changing nominations to account for misinterpretation of the rules.
spiny norman Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 So many tournaments. John Cazale (the most underrated actor ever) Harrison Ford Meryl Streep Cate Blanchett Bette Davis Audrey Hepburn Nicole Kidman
ArkhamGlobe Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 I'll nominate the following: James Mason Klaus Kinski Gene Hackman Toshiro Mifune James Woods Buster Keaton (and I'm dead serious here) Lee Marvin Harry Dean Stanton EDIT: How the hell could I forget Robert Mitchum? I should slap myself.
Youth N Asia Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Paul Newman not too into these threads...but you gotta have Newman
Lord of The Curry Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Daniel Motherfucking Day Lewis. Put his name on the ballot as such.
Angelus Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 That guy who was in that one movie. Casey Affleck ?
Boner Kawanger Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 This won't fail miserably or end in a disappointment, I'm sure.

Toshiaki Koala Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Toshiro Mifune. Period. Beat me to it. Edit: ArkhamGlobe also beat me to it. Damn, I'm stupid.
WrestlingDeacon Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 I assume we're talking male actors and not female actresses here. Boris Karloff Clark Gable Frank Sinatra Sidney Poiter James Garner Don Knotts Anthony Quinn Tony Curtis Kirk Douglas Lee Marvin Rod Steiger Clint Eastwood Sean Connery Montgomery Clift Rory Calhoun
The Mandarin Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Jack Nicholson getting the same amount of votes as James Woods is sad. My picks (in no order): Jack Nicholson Dustin Hoffman Tim Robbins Morgan Freeman Robert DeNiro Ray Liotta (hey, Joe Pesci got a vote) Tom Hanks Meryl Streep Sissy Spacek(!) ..Henry Winkler William H. Macy Jeff Daniels and yes, Tom Cruise.
spiny norman Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 I assume we're talking male actors and not female actresses here. No, if you look at the first post it says actors/actresses. But for some reason people find it difficult to judge the merits of a female performance and thus do not rate them as being amongst the greatest of all time. Aside from me, two other people nominated women. I will be shocked if any woman, bar maybe Meryl Streep, make it past the second round.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Just a question: were we supposed to nominate our top 10 regardless of what others before us said, or simply add 10 names that hadn't been nominated yet? Because if it's the first option then I am going to edit my choices. My 10 nominations weren't my overall top 10 by any means.

Masked Man of Mystery Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 I don't normally go and say "these are my top fav actors" but here are some people I'd like to nominate: Clint Eastwood Orson Welles Bela Lugosi Bruce Lee Jackie Chan Patrick Stewart Dang, I watch too much anime, if I think of anyone else, I'll add them later
Ravenbomb Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Billy Crudup Kiefer Sutherland "Beat" Takeshi Robert De Niro Marlon Brando Al Pacino Kevin Spacey Toshiro Mifune Peter Lorre Humphrey Bogart Charlie Chaplain Robert Duval Daniel Day-Lewis Henry Fonda Jimmy Stewart
Guest JMA Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Sean Penn Malcolm McDowell Gene Hackman Michael Douglas Martin Sheen

With that in mind: Kevin Spacey Robert Deniro Al Pacino Humphrey Bogart Russell Crowe Daniel Day Lewis Morgan Freeman Tom Hanks Dustin Hoffman Robert Redford
Crimson G Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Kevin Spacey Sean Connery Robert Duvall Robert DeNiro Al Pacino Marlon Brando That's all you really need. Sean Connery should win, hands down.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 No one's cooler than John Wayne. Hell with versatility, the man has an on-screen persona that can't truly be duplicated.
caboose Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Everyone I would have voted for, has been nominated but I haven't seen anyone bote for... ...John Malkovitch yet!
WrestlingDeacon Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 I think you should do a seperate tournament for actresses. It will probably go better. If you want all overall favorites to gauge seedings, here would be mine Paul Newman John Wayne Cary Grant Humphrey Bogart James Garner Katherine Hepburn Jack Nicholson Audrey Hepburn Boris Karloff Orson Welles
2GOLD Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Huh, who to pick who to pick: Paul Newman John Wayne Cary Grant Humphrey Bogart James Garner Harrison Ford Jack Nicholson Audrey Hepburn Denzel Washington Tom Hanks DeNiro and Pacino would be on this list, but Pacino has become his Scent of a Woman character which is getting annoying and DeNiro just doesn't seem to read the scripts he is agreeing too. And Connery can never be forgiven for some of his last few movies.
