Final fan vote for AL is Lew Ford, Travis Hafner, FRANK THOMAS, Paul Konerko and Hideki Matsui.

NL is Bobby Abreu, Steve Finley, Jason Kendell, Juan Pierre and Aramis Ramirez.

As an Orioles fan, I'm pissed Melvin Mora (.347 12 43) , even though hurt didn't make the team or wasn't at least selected for the final fan voting (Travis Hafner!? Don't the Indians have enough all stars for such a mediocre team?) Nice to see the entire Yankees infield is reunited for the game (although that's more the fans fault than Torre's). Oh, and Thomas and Konerko are both worthy of the fan vote but I can't be the only one to think MLB put them both on to split the vote and assure the even more likely vote in for another beloved Yankee, Hideki Matsui (remember, you can vote in Japanese!)

You can't reunite something that never was.

Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter, Alfonso Soriano and Alex Rodriguez never played together as one infield in a New York Yankees uniform. Unless I'm missing something.

I just received an impassioned form letter from the Yankees site asking me to vote Hideki Matsui in. I don't see how I, as a Yankee fan, can do otherwise.

What a humanitarian ;)

I couldn't help it. They showed Hideki's puppy dog face ( You know, the one that looks nothing like a puppy dog face) and my heart melted.

And you know what I mean, I meant Soriano united with the rest of the Yankees infield...

Well, that's different than the Yankees infield reuniting.

Anyone who's not hitting .250 at the time selections would be announced shouldn't be able to make the team. It's absurd that Giambi can hit .239, miss a bunch of games while being hurt, and still make the team because of name recognition. I know he's still getting on base, but there are definitely more deserving candidates in the AL who are hitting above their weight.

Snubs: AL - Melvin Mora. NL - Adrian Beltre, Lyle Overbay.

I was pissed as hell about Mora too. I actually couldn't believe that he wasn't on the reserves or the final fan voting. I kept looking back and forward between trhe two trying to find him, but he just wasn't there. Going purely by stats, he was the second best player in the American League before the foot injury. I didn't really expect him to start over A-Rod, but not being on the team at all? That's ridiculous.

So since Casey is all but out for the game...Who you think will get the slot?

His team mate Dunn? Overbay? Sadly, the open spot SHOULD go to Beltran but it wont.

I am surprised Larkin made the team, I guess it was a sympathy pick since he is probably going to retire following this season. The only person I really wanted to make the team was Adam Dunn, but I do not think he deserved it. I just wanted to see him crush his 500 foot home runs that he hits in batting practice during the HR derby. Dunn, Bonds and Wily Mo Pena are the only players so far to clear the moondeck at Great American Ballpark.

Giambi making the All Star team is a travesty......especially starting in front of David Ortiz.

Ortiz wasn't on the ballot.

That's exactly my point...... It should be a different process. They should still have voting for the all stars, but they shouldn't be obligated to start the game. If you wanna vote in a guy hitting .239 then go ahead, as long as he sits on the bench for the first 5 innings or so I don't have a problem with it. Just let more deserving players at least have a chance.

Ortiz probably will end up starting the game, because I don't think Giambi will be up to playing, but I understand your point.

I'm a Mets fan, and I'm kind of wondering why Al Leiter or Braden Looper didn't make the team.

Glavine makes the team and has a 2.16 ERA/ Leiter has a 2.12 ERA with the league hitting .188 against him, and doesn't make it

Braden Looper has a 1.97 ERA and didn't make it either.

It is hard to make the team with only 4 wins like Leiter has (being injured for a stretch did not help). And Looper just ran into the Overbay problem of position depth, his numbers aren't as good as 3 of the 4 relievers and the 4th has the saves for people to blow a load over.

Too many relievers are in as it is. Danny Graves is an average reliever who made the squad solely because he got a ton of save opportunities. He's blown 3 out of his last save opportunites. Personally, I'd take Eric Gagne, and that's it. More starters should make the All-Star team.

Nevermind that it's easier to deal with relievers than starters since most of the starting pitchers will still be working in the days before the game.

Melvin Mora went on the DL today, so the (deserved) bitching about him missing the squad is muted a bit.

All the more reason for Torre to have named Mora to the team. He could have been recognized as an all star for his first half of play and then since he's injured, Torre could have replaced him on the active roster with whoever else he wanted. No excuse why this didn't happen.

Except for Tom Gordon and Carlos Guillen, all of Torre's picks had to fill the team representation rule (this includes Tejada). Many fans mistakingly believe the manager decides all of the reserves. This doesn't happen anymore.

Are you honestly insinuating Tejada doesn't deserve to make the team?

Halladay & Batista have both pitched better than Lilly.  Me thinks Torre is showing some favourtism towards the former Yanks.

I'm kinda glad Hallday's not going because of his shoulder injury. If it's not 100% yet, then the 3 extra days off will help. I would have taken Batista (or even Frasor) over Lilly, though.

Giambi being voted in as a starter is a joke. Not saying his best years are done, but THIS YEAR, or at least half-season, has not been one of his better ones, rather has been pretty medicore.

Last night I was thinking of how lovely it would be to have Ken Harvey playing first base when Mariano Rivera and/or Tom Gordon are on the mound in the game. He might actually end up killing one of them on a simple groundball.
