Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Jamie Knoble's one of the better wrestlers in the entire WWE roster. I'm curious on to where people would rank him in a top 10 overall, heavies and cruisers. Where is he in your top 10? Who's behind him? Who's ahead of him? Rate him on pure wrestling skill and nothing else.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I'm not that big of a fan of his, but he is one of the better CW's mainly because he was actually given T.V. time in the last few years. Probably around 2nd or 3rd on the CW scale behind Rey Jr and Chavo Guerrero. Kidman would be high on the list if he was more active. I wouldn't rate him on any other scale though. Guest Coffey Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I'd say right around four or five behind Benoit, Guerrero, Jericho & Angle.
algrim 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I see him being in fourth place. The three people in fron of him are: 1) Rey 2)Chavo 3)Kidman
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted July 6, 2004 What does everyone think his strong points are? I've noticed that he's NEVER looked lost in the ring before and does some pretty smart things in there. He's got a nice moveset where nothing sticks out as bad in either is low,mid or highend offence. He also manages to hit everything well when he hits a move. The 2 finishers he has are very nice. Just watching the good match against Spike Dudley on Heat last week I noticed how the match had an interesting transistion for Spike to go back on offence after getting beaten down by the heel (if I remember correctly). Stuff like that impresses me and goes back to my comment on he how never looks lost in there. Now that I think about it I don't even remember him screwing up any moves in the ring or hurting another opponent.
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Well, I prefer Benoit, Eddie and Rey by a wide margin but he's better than most, that's for sure. On an entertainment level, he's probably in the top 20. He plays a convincing hick.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 He's a virtual wrestling encyclopedia. You can watch three of his matches and not see him do the same move twice. I would put him fourth, behind Benoit, Eddie and Rey. WAY ahead of Angle right now, and ahead of Jericho and Chavo as well.

He looked absolutely terrible in them. Not Heat but I've seen Smackdown. He did pretty well in it. Last time I remember he wrestled as a face against Tajiri which is not his main strength since you tend to be more handicapped when you're a face. Knoble's so good that he needs to be the one dictating the match. He needs to be the bad guy. His heel matches against face Tajiri were actually what really impressed me with Noble. You'd have to search very long and hard for someone to do as well as Knoble did there when he wrested face Tajiri. Knoble was on.

No, waaaay after that, when Tajiri "blinded" Nidia with mist.

Guest Soylent Green Is People Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I agree with the general consensus so far, certainly a top 10 and possibly top 5 wrestler out of the WWE current roster. I rarely watch Smackdown anymore and don't get Velocity in Australia so i haven't seen very much of him lately, but i'll still take a Jamie Knoble match over all but a few others. It's kind of sad, but Jamie has come up painfully short in most of his "big" matches. The debut against the Hurricane was an absolutely terrible match. His series with Tajiri where they tried to make him the top (cruiser)face came up flat. His run with Rey right after that was less than spectacular.
Guest Ray Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Noble is fantastic when he gets a chance to wrestle a complete match. He's like a Benoit. Smart as hell and clearly wants to work advanced wrestling matches. Just rarely gets enough time to do so. I'd kill to see him wrestle Benoit/Eddie/London/Danielson/etc... in an unrestricted setting.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Knoble hasn't been able to get a good 10-15 minutes with a good worker yet save for the London gem this past spring. He can go no question. I have him 8th overall in North America.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I've always liked Noble a lot. I think he's immensely underrated and can really do it all...submissions, matwork, aerial, even some brawling. He's able to adjust to so many different styles. Some of his indy work right before he came to WWE, i.e. the Super 8 tournament of ECWA, is really great. He's one of the few guys in WWE now that I could see getting fired and really making an impact on the indy circuit, and climb up the rankings to the level of AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, CM Punk, etc. I'd really like to see him vs. Jimmy Rave, Trent Acid, Punk, or Josh Prohibition. Jack_Bauer 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Noble also had a cracking match which went over 10 minutes with Rey. He has good matches when he has the chance to put them on.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 6, 2004 1. Benoit 2. Eddie 3. Noble 4. Tajiri 5. Paul London Noble is great, and he, along with London and Yang, are reasons why I always tape Velocity. There's a reason why some smarks refer to him as Mini-Benoit.

There's a reason why some smarks refer to him as Mini-Benoit. Some of the stuff I've seen Knoble do reminds me of Benoit. I've seen him do the irish whip by squatting down and putting one arm on his leg, the suicide dive, sequences of moves in the ring ... stuff like that. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Knoble has *SO* patterned himself after Benoit. His forearm/punch is just like Benoit, I believe he used the swandive headbutt in WCW, the irish whip you mentioned. It's really quite obvious. As for ranking, I'd have him top 5 as well. Benoit & Eddie would be 1/2, and you could make a case for Rey/Knoble/Jericho making up spots 3-5. I was always a big fan, but lately he's moved into my "favorite guys in the entire company" category.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 I think he's the fourth best worker in WWE behind Benoit, Eddy, and London. The match with London in the spring was so fucking awesome, maybe the best of Knoble's career and probably somewhere in Paul's top 10. Really a super smart match that was a joy to watch. I agree with Anglesault that he has often come up short in big matches, maybe it's because of nerves. Selfishly, I'd love to see him work the indies and go 25 minutes with Danielson, as it would rock bells. Even their short velocity match was swank.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Can someone explain to me how Noble is better then Angle? I mean I agree, Noble is a great wrestler. But Angle is an excellent wrestler. And had way more ****'s matches then Noble.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 For one, when was the last time Noble got 20 minutes in the ring like Kurt Angle has multiple times? Noble is better because he's a better seller, his work is crisper, his moveset is better, he builds offense better, and he is smarter in the ring. If Knoble got the same types of opportunities Angle has, he would be putting out endless great matches too. God knows Noble vs. Eddy for 20 minutes would have been better than Angle-Eddy was. Further, I guess your point about Angle's endless **** matches in WWE is debatable, because I can only think of one that I might consider near that level. Guest BDC Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Currently is how he's better than Angle. Kurt has gone and gotten himself REALLY hurt while Knoble hasn't. I can watch Knoble matches and be perfectly entertained. The guy has the ability to be such an idiot prick that I can't get enough of it.

Noble may have better a match with Eddy then Angle(Maybe considered Angle-Eddy ****+) but that's because Noble and Eddy styles a similar. Angle could easily have a better match with wrestlers like Benoit, Lesnar, Austin Rock then Noble. And you may think that "Noble is better because he's a better seller, his work is crisper, his moveset is better, he builds offense better, and he is smarter in the ring." Well that's your opinion, and I respect it but I dissagree with it. Noble had his chance when they gave him the Cruiserweight title. Noble was a good champion, but he didnt really take the advantage of his chance like Kurt Angle when the WWF gave him the chance.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 I have him at #6, behind Benoit, Eddy, Rey Rey, Jericho & HHH. I don't consider Angle an active wrestler anymore. HHH is underrated here because people hate him so much and he had a bad run for a year or so after coming back from injury. He still knows how to work a match better than practically anybody else in the company besides Benoit, despite a rather poor moveset (which knocks him below Eddy, Rey Rey & Jericho). Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2004 HHH can work a good match, but still... In his prime he was capable of ***** matches. Nowadays, we are lucky to see ****1/4 HHH match(Don't give me the Triple threat matches, because that was againest 2 of the best workers in 2 eras)
