strummer Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 -This week's Raw drew a 3.6 rating, down from the 3.7 last week and 4.2 the week before (with Rock). The show opened with a 3.2 first quarter hour rating and grew throughout except for a dip in Q8 (filled with commercials), then rebounded to a 4.0 overrun rating. The overrun rating last week was 4.3 and the week before 5.1. The drop in rating isn't a good sign headed into Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Pat McNeill's latest "McNeill's Take" just posted here at PWTorch.com looks at "WWE's Other Problem," namely some weaknesses revealing themselves about Raw, regarded as the stronger of WWE's two brands. -In other weekend ratings, Velocity drew a 0.3 (about the same as what TNA Impact has been drawing, although seen in fewer homes due to fewer Fox Sports clearances than Spike TV), WWE Experience drew a 0.4, and Heat drew a 0.7. I do not understand why WWE doesn't put more effort during Raw and Smackdown into promoting Heat and Velocity. Credit: TORCH
thuganomics Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Dang, why's Velocity drawing so low? It's usually the better Smackdown brand show on TV...

Guest Staravenger Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Moving Velocity to 7:00 pm didn't really help....wasn't WCW Saturday Night on a stupid hour that no one watched when it was dying? I'm shocked though Sunday Night Heat remains consistant even though it's also at 7:00..but Saturday night is a bit different from sunday night.
razazteca Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Velocity needs more Haas and less Spike Dudley.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Velocity needs more Haas and less Spike Dudley. I'd rather Haas stayed on Smackdown.
Slickster Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Moving Velocity to 7:00 pm didn't really help....wasn't WCW Saturday Night on a stupid hour that no one watched when it was dying? SN was on at 6:05 for 15 years. It was moved to Saturday morning at 10 in 6/00, then killed in fall 00.
algrim Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Maybe this decrease in ratings is due to the fatal HHH effect? One thing is certain: Benoit needs to have at least one backstage segment. Not seeing enough of the brand's champion doesn't speak very well about his title reign.
Placebo Effect Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Moving Velocity to 7:00 pm didn't really help....wasn't WCW Saturday Night on a stupid hour that no one watched when it was dying? SN was on at 6:05 for 15 years. It was moved to Saturday morning at 10 in 6/00, then killed in fall 00. Fucking Russo. That's one of the many things he did that I hate him for. Even if it was switch to an hour to avoid Adrian Byrd and Barbarian matches, it still could've served as a breeding ground for new talent AND would have allowed him to utilize talent not deserving of Nitro/Thunder.
Guest combat_rock Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 That's sad, considering that Velocity is better than Heat, and ussually Smackdown.
Star Ocean 3 Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Heat and Velocity should be back to back.
Guest Bad Brad Jacobs Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 i think it might help velocity if it was either A. not on a saturday evening when people have better things to do or B. shown live every tuesday night. i think either of the two would help the ratings at least a little bit, and maybe back to the b-show point they were at before (.7, .8) not to mention maybe having like a monthly title shot or somthing to headline heat or velocity. it could only help to maybe once a month have JBL vs. Rey Rey or Benoit vs. Jericho for the title and have it air on one of the b-shows. that way, midcarders have more opportunities to define their characters on live tv and the quality of the tv should remain about the same.
landy1987 Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 and Sunday was the 4th of July and Heat STILL got a better rating than Velocity
Kahran Ramsus Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 I can't see Velocity much anymore, now that it isn't on at 10.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Other minor news: World Wrestling Entertainment is in the process of signing numerous wrestlers from the past to help do voiceovers for their 24/7 Video On Demand project. Some of the names the WWE is planning on signing for this project include Pat Patterson, Jay Strongbow and even Bruno Sammartino. The WWE has already signed "Superstar" Billy Graham to a contract and he too will be participating in this project as well. "Superstar" Billy Graham is also working for the company as a talent consultant. One of Billy Graham's ideas which have recently been used was to have Batista pose when he comes out to the ring.
