Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 I'd also like to point out the "Report" button, which appears on every post. If you think someone is really being a problem, report them. Don't do this just because you disagree with them and want to say "OMG TROLL~!!!1!" to every post they make. If someone is being a problem, we'll handle it. If you just like to report people you disagree with, we'll handle you.
Guest Loss Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Always good to see diplomacy is alive and well. Maybe the WWE folder mods could just be asked to step into the TNA folder from time-to-time to see how things are going. That might keep posts like this from being started, and it might be more effective than telling everyone to pull the sand out of their vaginas. Being nice *does* work sometimes. -- Loss, who can see both sides of this
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 So, technically, we could need a mod to hose down those who are anti-anti-TNA posters? Huh? Huh? Well, it was worth a shot.

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 If I cared about being nice... well, I'd probably be nice. I call things how I see them. If people can't deal with that, it falls under the umbrella of "not my problem." Shrug.

Sass 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 I finally finished reading the thread in question after I saw this one. Everything AoO and Tom have said I agree with. Nelly did nothing ban worthy from what I read and after checking out several of the longer threads on the first page of the TNA folder, I see no reason to add a TNA mod at this time. Maybe we'll need a TNA mod later on down the road but right now things look pretty kosher in that folder to me. This thread has helped us out though in being able to determine who would be willing to handle the duties of being a mod there so this hasn't been a total wash. Nelly followed Rule 5, which is a tough rule for some folks to follow. Carry on.
Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Well, I suppose you told me. It's not about "telling" anyone. I'm honest before I'm nice. Sometimes, my being honest will be the same thing as being nice. Other times, it won't. I just don't go out and try to be diplomatic and nice in everything I do. On the other end, I don't try to be mean and nasty, either. I deal with people honestly, and I expect the same in return.

TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 I must say that I see the argument that you, the mods, are making looking back through the thread. Apologies for being such an ass about everything. I still think the immaturity flowed both ways, though.

Guest Coffey Report post Posted July 9, 2004 If Puro, Indy & Gen. wrestling sections have mods, the NWA folder should too. It's that simple. We have as much activity as those sections with more problems. It should be common sense. I'm not going to bite my lip on this BS. We have fucking AoO whom spends all his goddamn time in HD talking about fucking nonsense telling us that we're wrong when he neither A) frequents that forum or B) watching wrestling. It's not hard to understand why negativity sets us all off so quickly. Since day fucking one we've had posters coming into the forum saying the product sucks and won't last a month. Two years later TNAW has a national TV deal and the BS hasn't stopped. Then we have half the mods telling us to use the report button, send PM's to mods and use the site feedback for *gasp* site feedback. So, we do. Then what happens? We get called pussies and told to get the sand out of our vaginas. The "people of power" around these parts are a fucking joke. Bottom line: Give the NWA section a mod or ban me. Where the fuck is bps?

treble 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Since day fucking one we've had posters coming into the forum saying the product sucks and won't last a month. Two years later TNAW has a national TV deal and the BS hasn't stopped. The folder is there to discuss the product, not for everyone to hold hands and talk about how great everything is. If someone doesn't enjoy the product, they have every right to go into there and say why (in a mature fashion, obviousy), which is exactly what Nelly did. Then we have half the mods telling us to use the report button, send PM's to mods and use the site feedback for *gasp* site feedback. So, we do. Then what happens? We get called pussies and told to get the sand out of our vaginas. The "people of power" around these parts are a fucking joke. It's not like we didn't take the suggestion under advisement, we just decided that the folder doesn't need it's own mod at this point. The board isn't a democracy. Bottom line: Give the NWA section a mod or ban me. Don't be such a drama queen.

But how are you supposed to contend with people who constantly come into the folder and shit on everything because it's not the WWF or RoH? I don't think anyone has a problem with people who don't enjoy things. It's that most of these people don't watch the product. NB even admitted in the one thread that he hasn't watched in a long time.
IllustriousOne 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 The "people of power" around these parts are a fucking joke. So much so that the belligerent little rubes who inhabit this messageboard feel the need to point that out every time something doesn't go their way. I'll let you in on a secret. When the TNA Mod thread popped up in the Staff folder, you were my choice. Now? Now you've made an immature ass out of yourself in a situation where you could have become the catalyst for that folder, and I rescind my choice for you as TNA mod. Good work. TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Ouch. I agree with Coffey's sentiment, though not necessarily on the same level. I do feel like we get insulted for wanting a mod, and that everyone seems to look down on us. I do admit, though, that sometimes we ask for it.

Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 I do feel like we get insulted for wanting a mod, and that everyone seems to look down on us. Read back over this thread and think about why that might be. That's not even a flame, some of the tsmtna drones are acting like fucking children. Does the tna folder even really get enough activity to need a dedicated mod when you can just have one of the myriad other mods come look after your concerns? Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 ^Yes. There's a new topic every day, which is more than can be said for the Puro folder. If the Puro folder gets a mod, why shouldn't the TNA folder, when the latter is more active? I don't care if the TNA folder gets a mod or not, and people overreacted to Nelly's Bandaid's comments. The constant telling of the TNA folder regulars that they don't need a mod makes them mad, which leads to them acting foolish because they don't get a mod, which starts the cycle all over again. Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Yeah, but really...it isn't the WWE folder, it doesn't get 20 topics a day. It can EASILY be handled via report or pm and having another mod come in and straighten shit out.
IllustriousOne 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2004 To be perfectly honest, I personally don't see the need for a puro mod either.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2004 But there is one. And the fact that a less active folder, the Puro folder, has a mod while a more active folder, the TNA folder, doesn't just seems wrong to me.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted July 10, 2004 that logic would dictate giving General and Hardcore mods.

We get called pussies and told to get the sand out of our vaginas. The "people of power" around these parts are a fucking joke. Bottom line: Give the NWA section a mod or ban me. Where the fuck is bps? I'm going to be perfectly honest with you here, Coffey. If a mod DID get named to the TNA folder, the TNA fans would be the most likely candidates to get banned. The way some of you handle ANY criticism borders on the drama queen side far too often. NOTHING Nelly did warranted ANY of the incessant griping. Nothing. A lot of people in that folder have a BRUTALLY hard time handling a difference of opinion and will simply flame --- relentlessly flame, mind you --- anybody who dares to say "This product is nothing special". I avoid that folder as, well, I am aware that more than a few mods already aren't fond of me and I don't need MORE people calling for my banishment. Go back and re-read the Alpha Male thread that sparked all of this. Nelly was, IMO, exceptionally polite. He pointed out his beefs and explained them fairly well. For that, he was called a troll and Dave O'Neill, a tactic done so often there it is losing its effectiveness. If you want mods to take your concerns seriously, you need to learn what actually is deserving of a mod's attention. Stop playing this drama card. So people doubted TNA would survive. Heaven forbid somebody hold an opinion, based on logic, that gets disproven. It happens all of the time in all walks of life. I feel for Tom and the mods here. They're being asked to fix a problem --- and the solution that would likely be handed down would only infuriate the people calling for the solution, as THEY have done more that warrants punishment. Mad Dog, who does that? Honestly. I never did. NB didn't. We simply pointed out OUR problems with the product --- something that ANY fan should be able to do --- and people called for punishment of me and him over that. But, Corey, if they're acting like children, why should anybody do what they want? It would simply ENCOURAGE that behavior to continue. I don't blame Dr. Tom one bit for unloading on some of the complainers as he did. He SELDOM is harsh to people, so rest assured, he felt he had a good reason for it. Heck, even Ill agrees with me about the behavior of some in that folder, and he doesn't agree with me on a damned thing. -=Mike
Guest JacK Report post Posted July 10, 2004 The problem comes when multiple threads degenerate into the same discussion. Thus far, it seems that hasn't happened, so I really can't see the problem. Problems come when someone goes into every thread to point out the same critcism over and over again.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted July 10, 2004 Mad Dog, who does that? Honestly. I never did. NB didn't. We simply pointed out OUR problems with the product --- something that ANY fan should be able to do --- and people called for punishment of me and him over that. NB said in the that thread that he doesn't watch anymore. Dave O'Neil was notorious for blasting a lot of feds he'd never seen before. And my again you miss my point. My biggest problem with the folder are the people that constantly bitch about the product but never watch it. And you can go back to the spring where almost every thread was turned into a RoH vs. TNA fight. I have no problem with someone who disagrees if they watch the shows. I do have a problem with people who don't watch that come in and bash bash bash.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 10, 2004 Congratulations. I'm appointing myself the TNA moderator as of now. Now you have a mod who will, on a daily basis, scan through that folder and fix what needs fixing. I really hope this makes everyone feel better. We have fucking AoO whom spends all his goddamn time in HD talking about fucking nonsense telling us that we're wrong when he neither A) frequents that forum or B) watching wrestling. It's not hard to understand why negativity sets us all off so quickly. Hey, fuck you. You have no idea what I do and don't do on this board, so don't pretend that you do. I post in EVERY folder not concerned with wrestling. I don't post in the wrestling folders because I don't WATCH it. I used to, quite a bit, actually, but I've since lost interest. I'm not one of those ignorant people who posts about things they know nothing about. Since day fucking one we've had posters coming into the forum saying the product sucks and won't last a month. Two years later TNAW has a national TV deal and the BS hasn't stopped. SHOW ME THE TROLLING! Please! It's why I've got a blue thing under my avatar.
