Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I think I just saw one of the most stupid Sportscenter segments ever. They were trying to bash the NFL for fining Joe Horn because they liscense NFL Street. If someone can see some connection between a video game and what goes on on the field please fill me in.
razazteca Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 ESPN hates arcade style sport games from Midway or Electronic Arts.
Youth N Asia Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Hockey's over, basketball's over, football's months away, and no college sports that matter are going now. Slow newsday
the max Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Correction: Slow newsweek. They've been doing the videogame thing all week, including a 10 minute thing on videogames and NASCAR last night.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I guess. It was kind of funny because the NFL sent a statement that basically owned their argument easily by pointing out that NFL games aren't played on the streets either.
Guest Choken One Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 The only thing I agreed was that NFL Street glorifies Showboating. But so does ESPN.
TheBigSwigg Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 What I think is even funnier is this is at least the second time they've had the segments on Video Games and Sports. At least I think it is.
Guest Choken One Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 maybe they are just recycling it. I'm shocked SC hasn't started showing POKER highlights yet.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Considering ESPN licenses its own line of Sports games, I can't help but think there's a conflict of interest somewhere.
Bored Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have ESPN News and I'm pretty sure it's not available on basic cable anywhere as of yet. The anchors suck there too but at least it's just straight forward scores and highlights. I find absolutely no reason to ever watch SportsCenter anymore.
starvenger Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 maybe they are just recycling it. I'm shocked SC hasn't started showing POKER highlights yet. They don't need to - the WSoP rerun at least once a day...
razazteca Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Looks like they are going to repeat the segment about that baseball game again. "Look ma I'm Jeter and I can run the bases and beat up everybody"
Art Sandusky Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 We don't have ESPNEWS except when Comcast Sports Net has nothing to put on.
