Guest ShamRock Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 It has come down to the sweet 16. There weren't any suprises last round, except Macy over John Wayne. It was a tie so I flipped a coin and Macy won. Now we're getting down to the best of the bunch. Voting ends Sunday afternoon. Robert De Niro vs. Russell Crowe Gregory Peck vs. Jack Nicholson William H. Macy vs. Kevin Spacey Bill Murray vs. Clint Eastwood Al Pacino vs. Tom Hanks Anthony Hopkins vs. Marlon Brando Harrison Ford vs. Edward Norton Morgan Freeman vs. Gary Oldman

Crimson G Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Flipped a coin, WTF? Old school should always win out over new school, just based on status. Wayne should have been in this bracket, but oh well. At least Macy has no chance against Spacey. Robert De Niro Jack Nicholson Kevin Spacey (the ultimate winner of this tournament since Connery went down) Bill Murray (greatest ad-libber of all-time) Al Pacino Marlon Brando Edward Norton (I've taken someone of Ford for every round so far, this one looks like the one he'll fall in to smark-beloved Edward Norton (why?)) Gary Oldman (Morgan Freeman is over-rated, Gary Oldman is not-so-much)
spiny norman Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Robert De Niro Gregory Peck (Nicholson was overrated) William H. Macy (Spacey has been in too much pretentious crap since American Beauty) Clint Eastwood (Hard choice) Tom Hanks (Pacino is overrated) Marlon Brando Harrison Ford (why the hell did Norton beat Orson Welles!?) Morgan Freeman (who cares really though. Neither should make the top eight).

The Mandarin Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Robert De Niro Jack Nicholson Kevin Spacey Clint Eastwood Tom Hanks Marlon Brando Edward Norton Morgan Freeman (alright, I love Shawshank Redemption as much as anybody else, but really--neither man should have made it this far) Well, that was easy.

Guest ShamRock Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 What round did Denzel go out in? He went out in, believe it or not, the first fucking round to Bill Murray. I haven't seen any performance of Murray that matches Denzel's in Malcolm X and Training Day

I haven't seen any performance of Murray that matches Denzel's in Malcolm X and Training Day Denzel is so massively overrated it's not funny. His only great performance was in Glory, but there were so many great performances in that his is a tad overshadowed/overlooked. Philadelphia was quite good too but, again, overshadowed. Malcolm X sucked, Training Day was woeful, Groundhog Day and Lost In Translation are better than both of them, as were Murray's performances. Denzel is decisively adequate, but not much more, and I tire of people saying otherwise.

WrestlingDeacon Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 John Wayne jobbing to William H. Macy on a coin flip is the most retarded fucking thing I've heard in weeks. I seriously demand a recount or a some sort of more legit tiebreaker. I'm writing in John Wayne in that bracket and I encourage everyone else to do so as well. Robert De Niro Gregory Peck John Wayne Clint Eastwood Al Pacino Marlon Brando Edward Norton Morgan Freeman
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I didn't vote last round. John Wayne. There. I do so again this time.

And smells bad. and has a bad case of herpes, hell, even worse than Rudo's case.
