The OAO Cancelled Shows that Should be Back Thread

Recommended Posts

Clone High needs to be back yesterday

Amen to that!

My picks:

-That Was Then (never got a chance, but had a great premise)

-Quantum Leap (count me in with the masses)

-The Incredible Hulk (ended pretty abruptly. They could have kept it going given the format it followed with Banner bouncing from town to town, helping people.)

Hulk had to end with Bixby's failing health if I remember correctly. They ending up making a few TV Movies (Three, to be exact) to close out thes series.

Eh, I don't mind the movies, but as a close to the show, I think they could have done better than

Hulk falling out of a plane to his death.

I hear that.

As for Bixby, wasn't he a principal director for Blossom for a few years after "Death of the Incredible Hulk"?

If we're going with shows that had less than 3 years of shelf life then...

The Oblongs

Herman's Head

Nice to see that someone else appreciates the brilliance that was Keen Eddie.

Can someone refresh my memory of Hermans Head? I was watching the Simpsons Season 4 and it seemed like they took a jab at it with Lisa talking thinking to herself, started laughing and suddenly saying "I was thinking of something funny from hermans Head" and Marge just groans.

Kind of a show within a show. The main show is your standard sitcom about office (?) worker Herman and his co-workers. The sub-show is 4 "facets" of Herman's mind (love, lust, intelligence, ???), which tell him how to act his life.

The in-joke is that Yeardley Smith aka Lisa Simpson's voice, was one of Herman's coworkers on the show.

I don't want new episodes, but I'd like to see old episodes Alf and MST3K (the CC era, since I have almost every Sci-Fi ep. on tape) come back in syndication (although the latter would be pretty tough to do for various reasons).

For Alf you can tune into TV Land. They run Alf blocks from time to time.

MST3K you're pretty much fucked unless you pay Slayer to record copies of his collection for you.

Has every non-commercially released episode in the series. Though it only works if you have broadband and a lot of patience. Also has most of the KTMA episodes.

I'm still in Dial-Up Hell (ca-ble-mo-dem???) so d/ling eps is out. I'll have broadband by the end of the year.

Really.

I'm seriously planning on it.

Sports Night is #1 (although then I wouldn't have 6' under, currently like my second fave show)

No one for My So-Called life? I wouldn't watch it NOW, but it was great as a young teen.

Lucky was quite good.

I would say NewsRadio, except even though it was still kind of funny, I found it too hard to watch after Phil Hartman was killed.

Mr. Show for damn sure, unless they ended it voluntarily.

And Cowboy Bebop could have ran for many a season. Not cancelled per se, since the creators had a story line that they ran through then that was it. (could of gone a long time too, since I hear it was WILDLY popular in Japan.)

I think NewsRadio ended at the right time. Phil's death seemed to linger over the other actors. They gave it a go without Phil, but it didn't work. Really, you can't bring it back without Phil there. It's like bringing back SCTV without John Candy...

I'll agree with Lucky. I didn't want to watch it at first cause the previews looked dumb and the show just seemed so unlikable. But I caught a few episodes and really started liking it.

The Job had the interesting aspect of Denis Leary's character being the complete opposite of moral, but still trying to keep his life together. It was, for some reason, impossible not to like the characters in the show (especially Adam Ferrara's), but it got stuck in a crappy time spot on a crappy network so no one ever saw it. It even could have resurrected the career of the chick who played Hilary on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Married With Children (It would have to be with a new cast)

Oh fuck off.

Dude, the only reason why I say new cast is because the network would never allow the show back with the old cast. Believe me, I would love to see the show back with the same cast.

Steve was so much better than Jefferson. Steve was twelve kids of cool...I liked the dynamic of the annoying yuppie neighbors better than Marcy + a guy that likes hanging out wih Al and everyone else more than her.

Ditto. I was never a fan of....whoever the actor was (he was in Revenge of the Nerds) and the character of Jefferson was probably one of the first things to me that started to make the show go down. God, Steve ruled. (cries)

I like Steve better. But Jefferson was cool too. I think he did a great job for the situation he was thrown into.

Action with Jay Mohr...he was the perfect smartass for that show. Didn't last near long enough

THe show they need to bring back that hasn't been mentioned is Get A Life. I think that Chris Elliot is probably available too. That was a show that was way ahead of its time.
