That's because he repeats the same tripe every time (quick, someone do a search on how many times he's said "Laffer Curve") and backs it up with the same "NO, TRUST ME, I'M AN ECONOMIST!!!!"

Thanks, bud! We can read books just fine ourselves! It's the same as if I were a politician and I spouted off "NO, TRUST ME, I'M A POLITICIAN... I UNDERSTAND ELECTORAL POLITICS!!!"

It's crass and self-important garbage. No one gives a shit if you're Milton Friedman or fucking Andy Kaufman; we're asking for your opinions here, not your insistance that you're an "expert".

Well, some people around here actually like the fact that I speak and talk about matters Tyler. I mean, I know what I'm talking about, and back it up with facts. Nothing is more frustrating than when the facts are laid bare in front of someone and they refuse to believe the reality as is. And it is very tiring to hear the same arguments brought up time and again without any further changes in the fact aside from hindsight and imperfect updating.

And yes, Tyler. I've been proven wrong. And I've changed my opinion when the facts spoke to changing. I don't give a damn about whether the facts support this or that. I only give a damn about seeing the facts as they are and having the right conclusion.

I'm no expert. But right now, I've been at this seven years. Might as well call it as I see it.

Hey I wasn't posting during the peak of this argument :D

Word of the attacks go to our President, and.........

He stands up and declares 'and they all lived...............IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW THIS STORY ENDS THE PRESIDENT HAS WORK TO DO!!!!!!!!'

He goes outside to his super TerroristB-Gone jet and is stopped by a guy that looks mysteriously like Kevin Kelly, 'PUT YOUR FINGER IN YOUR NOSE HERMY!!!!! TERRORISTS, YOU COME HERE AND ACTUALLY BELIEVE YOU CAN GET ONE OVER ON THE PEOPLE, SNEAK ATTACK. WELL THE PRESIDENT SAYS THIS, HE'S GONNA GET INTO HIS SUPER ANTI-TERRORISM JET, FLY UP TO WASHINGTON, THEN NEW YORK, HOP ON THE PLANE, LAYETH THE SMACK DOWN ON ALL YOUR ROOTY-POO CANDY ASSES, (pauses to hear 'Georgie, Georgie') THEN TAKE YOUR LITTLE BOMB, PUT A LITTLE ICY HOT ON IT, TURN THAT SUMBITCH SIDEWAYS, AND STICK IT STRAIGHT UP YOUR CANDY ASSES!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU S-MELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL..........WHAT THE PRESIDENT....IS COOKING.' Turns to Kevin Kelly and glares at him.

The movie is out. The movie will make over a 100 mil. There isn't a fucking thing you can do about it. So keep yelling at the void. Your boy got caught with his own words and hung HIMSELF! Moore just pointed everyone in the direction to see it.

Yep you're right, it's making all this money, IT MUST BE GOOD I TELL YA!!!!!!!! Yep when all else fails fall back on the money argument. Of course Michael Moron hasn't made it clear yet if the people he refers to that make America the "dumbest country on the planet" are the ones flocking to make F911 this great box office draw............

And finally, in the end, the SUPREME COURT of the US issued the right opinion. See my thread on the CONCURRING OPINION and why what the florida supreme court did was friggin unconstitutional

Hey you're talking to "let's stop talking about Florida" number uno over here. It went to SCOTUS as it should have, they made a decision, life goes on.

I'm just countering Mike's comment that Fox made the right call. They didn't. Nobody called that it was going to the Supreme Court, but also it wasn't a right call because Gore got more votes anyway.

SMALL difference --- the erroneous call at 7:48 ACTUALLY hurts Bush. An actually CORRECT call at 2:20A doesn't really hurt anybody. A little irrelevant point.

You almost say this like Bush got the most votes.

And what Arch said. Please people, like anyone else would've done anything differently.

Hi.

Justice department here again.

Bush and Gore were a statistical tie. I've said that HOW many times?

You can measure and remeasure, but any measurement will have error and bias.

And finally, in the end, the SUPREME COURT of the US issued the right opinion. See my thread on the CONCURRING OPINION and why what the florida supreme court did was friggin unconstitutional.

God, its been 4 years. Let it go. No one deserves to be president if they can't carry their home state.

Youre in the Justice Dept...

Yet you apparently have no inherant understanding of the history of American politics...

Hayes v. Tilden, ever hear about that election? Yeah, it happened well over 100 years ago...and those zany historians are still talkin about it!

Except, of course, he didn't get more votes in FL. Gore lost clean.

I love the belief of the left that the networks would just go along with whatever Fox said. They do that ALL of the time.

This author is also exceptionally mistaken in several points --- but lord, I don't feel like wasting the time now.

"SCREW PROOF! Fox said it! We ALWAYS go with what they do!"

This is probably going to come up a lot. 'Creates the impression...' It's important to keep in mind (this is the epiphany part) that Moore did not create the film for NRO writers, or for political bloggers, or for pundits or wonks. He created it for all the Lila Lipscombs and Sgt. Michael Petersons of the world.

Okay, that basically debunks this guy as a credible source. Deceit isn't just outright lying, it's also distorting facts: Telling actually statistics, but then misusing them or not giving the entire story so as to misrespresent what actually happened. If he can't accept that, well, then he's nothing.

Not only that, most of it is rhetorical arguments rather than actually doing fact searches. If you were trying to silence any criticisms that Moore, well, uses distorted facts to make his arugment true, well, you failed.

Sorry, try again.

Damaramu, you've got it all wrong.

Bush should have stood slowly, thanked the children for being such good sports, and taken a few big steps back. He then should have ran towards the open window and leapt out, free falling for a few seconds before slinging web all the way to New York, just in time to catch the planes in a giant web between the two towers.

SPIDER-MAN: G-W

Someone should make that. I bet it'd make more money than Farenheit.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/st...,430276,00.html

The first survey, conducted on behalf of the Washington Post, shows that Mr Gore had a nearly three-to-one majority among 56,000 Florida voters whose November 7 ballot papers were discounted because they contained more than one punched hole.

The second and separate survey, conducted on behalf of the Palm Beach Post, shows that Mr Gore had a majority of 682 votes among the discounted "dimpled" ballots in Palm Beach county.

In each case, if the newly examined votes had been allowed to count in the November election, Mr Gore would have won Florida's 21 electoral college votes by a narrow majority and he, not Mr Bush, would be the president. Instead, Mr Bush officially carried Florida by 537 votes after recounts were stopped.

You're so full of shit, Jobber.

You said ON THIS VERY SAME PAGE that you're "numero uno" in wanting to stop talking about the Florida election, and yet here you are NOT letting the discussion go.

Everyone realizes that having the most votes in the popular election isn't anything close to accurate, because in states that are total blowouts, people won't vote. How many Republicans didn't bother to vote in California in 2000 for example? Or in Vermont? Same with Democrats in Texas. So claiming BUSH LOST THE POPULAR VOTE!!!!!111!!!! only would matter if we picked out the president.... on popular vote.

There's a difference between what I said and what you think I said. I meant that what happened happened, went the way it did, was completely legal, and wasn't "stolen." The Supreme Court didn't screw anybody over, so get over that.

However, Gore did win more votes. That's a fact and I'm not going to let that one slide away. Mikey Moore, however, and his "Daddy's friends on the Supreme Court" line, can go suck one. Gore got more votes, got the popular vote, but didn't become President on a technicality. And that's what really happened. Just because he didn't get the office in 2000 didn't mean he didn't get more votes.

if you go the BUSH LANTERN~! route, you need to go all the way and have ION BUSH. Just let him have all the GL power and then he can go battle the War on Terror without sending off American soldiers. He can create them himself!

This could be tremendous.

Gore got the most votes, so what? We don't elect a president like that.

The Reds had the best record in baseball in '81, they didn't go the playoffs cause of the strike/split-season.

Difference? the latter let it go eventually...............

Double votes mean shit unless we know the statistics in ALL the closely contested states. New Mexico could have easily moved the other way, as with a few other close Gore states. To just say double votes (And this is a double vote for the Presidential Candidate, right? How does one determine that these go to Gore...) would have swung it in one state doesn't work when you don't look at the entire picture.

It's not a technicality: Double votes aren't accepted anyways. Possibly a bad twist of fate? Okay, that's a bit more believable...

To come to Poppick's defense (sorta) reasonable, well-informed, people can disagree on things. But there are basic facts that NOBODY with even an ounce of knowledge on a subject could agree on.

Take astronomers. I know little-to-nothing about astronomy but I'll wager there are esoteric topics that a room full of astronomers would argue endlessly about. But ask them if the Earth revolves around the sun and nobody would disagree. Get someone in the room who believed that the sun revolved around the Earth and you tell me what would happen.

Sometimes, Poppick puffs out his credentials because people say monumentally stupid things about basic economics. Othertimes, he is like this.
