Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 28, 2004 Look forward to it being repeated ad nauseum. Not necessarily. If they put out a strong show next week that makes people think Eddie and Kurt hate eachother, this one week can be forgotten just like January was for the Mania feud. Guest TigerDriver91 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 Spike frickin' Dudley is the cruiserweight champion? Hey, Spike's better than Jacqueline. Well I won't argue with you there.
Guest tangerine Report post Posted July 28, 2004 I'm happy with Spike winning the title if it leads to the London/Kidman and Mysterio Vs Dudley Six Man.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 This show looks strong, only good things can come from the head of the Playaz Club being the GM. Like racism angles, a Mark Henry return, or a Mark Jindrack push?

SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 Since Long is set up to be a face GM, I doubt they'll do stupid racism angles. Racist wisecracks maybe, but not entire angles.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 You know, AS is right on this. Having a comedy segment at this point in the feud smacks of lazy booking. Someone said it's 'playing to people strengths'. Eddie's strength isn't really comedy. Eddie's strength is making people give a shit about what's going on in his matches and feuds, through comedy or other means. He and Angle have proven themselves to be excellent 'serious' wrestlers. Everything up until the Mania match was the right direction, because it actually seemed like Angle hated Eddie with a passion, and that Eddie hated Angle with a passion. Seriously. Kurt Angle costs Eddie Guerrero the WWE Title. Good start. Angle gets punished for it and Eddie, instead of tearing Angle apart dances with Vinnie Mac. And then, rather than tear him apart the next week, he steals his stuff and pretends to sell it so that Angle will come out...but when he does, the pay-off is Angle getting powder in his eyes from a gimmicked car!?! It makes Angle look ridiculous and believe it or not, that stopped working in 2001. It makes Eddie look weak for not destroying Angle or even showing signs of wanting to hurt him. And it makes what should be the biggest feud on Smackdown look like just another 2000 midcard comedy feud. CC, Bradshaw is technically on Smackdown with that video package. They need him on the show in person though obviously, because his whiney heel persona worked well with Taker last week.

Minutes taken up by the Smackdown World Champ and #1 Contender this Week: 0 combined. Nice. If you're going to count the DVD commercial, you'd have to count the JBL 'presidential parody commercial', too. Not that it really changes the outcome much, but to count one means you have to count the other, too. And why did they need to rush the 8 man into an elimination match? Why not a tournament leading up to SS, with the final match taking place at the PPV?

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 28, 2004 It makes Eddie look weak for not destroying Angle or even showing signs of wanting to hurt him. That, believe it or not, is my biggest problem, not that Kurt is ONCE AGAIN playing the bumbling idiot. Why are we supposed to get behind a guy who seemingly doesn't care enough to exact real revenge?

what 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 I'm I the only person that finds the Bradshaw title run enjoyable! Bradshaw's new character is enjoyable but the title run is a mistake. He deserved an upper midcard push not a top SD heel push.

King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2004 I'm I the only person that finds the Bradshaw title run enjoyable! Segment and character-wise, Bradshaw has impressed me recently. Hell, I loved the Bradshaw/Taker confrontation last-week. Simple, to the point and effective. And pretty funny. In ring though, Bradshaw still needs a work-horse like Eddie to put on good matches and he's still not credible enough for the big belt yet.

Sig worthy?Standards for sig quotes must be at all new low. They did the serious crap for Mania and it failed.Hence the relatively dead crowd for their match. It's time to try what Eddie excels at,comedy. Now if Eddie ends up spraying Angle with shit from a sewage truck i'll jump on your "OMG KURT ANGLE IS THE BEST AND SHOULD ONLY BE IN SERIOUS FEUDS" bandwagon. Maybe my TV mysteriously turned the volume down itself but the crowd was all but dead for the Angle/Eddie match up until the finish save for some small eddie/angle chants. I know part of this was because the actual match quality was below par for the 2 involved but still it got just a little more heat then the crickets heard during the tag title matches. The fued was reptitive and boring.Angle comes out and talks about Eddie's demons.Eddie comes out and cuts a promo were he basically foams at the mouth over what Angle says.Rinse,repeat.
