AmazingRen 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 I just got finished watching the Benoit DVD and besides The Great Sasuke and Angle matches I feel his match with Too Cold was one of the best matches on the DVD. The problem is no one talks about him as a great wrestler. I would even go as far to say that he is a better wrestler than Jericho. His ground work and counter moves was so great in that match. If WWF (at that time) wasn't so worried about giving him a stupid gimmick and focused more on his in ring abilty he would have gotten more credited as a wrestler. I mean sure he doesn't have that "Superstar" look, but that's no excuse for not giving him more of a chance in WWF or WCW. Do you think as far as great wrestlers go that Too Cold is a very underrated wrestler?
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Actually, during that time period he was thought highly of. Its just that he put on weight and began sucking as the years progressed. I am guessing this should be in old school or general wrestling, but whatever.
Guest creativename Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Too Cold Scorpio is a wrestler that, for whatever reason, hasn't been thought of too highly by history. Maybe some of it has to do with him having his prime years in a promotion that wasn't overly successful. Other stars of the promotion, like Sting, were higher on the card than him at the time and also were stars when WCW had more success. His legacy hasn't "stood the test of time" in that wrestling people rarely think of him nowadays. It's unfortunate, and he probably deserves better.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Wrong folder. But, yeah, I've always been a big Scorpio mark...even in the Job Squad days. He had the charisma to go with the wrestling, so it was a pity he got lumbered with the Flash Funk gimmick, was put in the J.O.B Squad and had to rap in WCW. Without all that, he might have gone far. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 I do agree that 2 Cold is quite underrated, but luckily he has had a certain degree of success overseas.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 When he broke out the 450 Splash at the November '92 Clash of the Champions, I think just about everyone in the arena and watching at home went insane. Awesome, awesome, stuff. It's a shame Scorpio was made to look weak, almost DIRECTLY after that: - Jobbed in tag match at Starrcade "Lethal Lottery" tag. - BARELY got a win over a relatively unknown Benoit at a major PPV. - Jobbed in TV Title Tournament...that belt would have been perfect for him...exposure on major TV programs, with an exciting moveset. Of course, Orndorff is given the title for some reason, defeating ERIK WATTS (?!?!?!?!) in the final. - Losing to TV Champ Orndorff... - A Tag Title reign for a couple of days...with freakin' BAGWELL. - "Dancing" with Bagwell. Sigh.

Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Scorp was in the JOB Squad? I don't remember that. Yeah it was Al Snow, Scorpio, Bob Holly, and the Blue Meanie. Possibly Gillberg too, can't remember...
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Scorpio has always been fantasting in the ring and a great arial wrestler for his size(which is not fat, but husky). He didn't have a great look but he could have been better than he was without the gimmicks. One thing that didn't help him was drug problems he's seemed to battle with much of his career. Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted August 4, 2004 I am going to chalk this up to him having some personal demons. Otherwise, who knows how far he would have gotten. He put on great matches in WCW but of course he eventually would have hit the glass ceiling if he had stayed until the Hogan years. The WWE wouldn't be bothered because they had nothing else for him besides a terrible gimmick or a slot in the JOB squad. ECW seemed to be the right place for him, but he didn't stick around much after 96. He apparently lives in Germany now and wrestles frequently in Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH. He has a job and apparently has cleaned himself up, so I think it would be cool if he got another shot to wrestle here in North America. Apparently ROH is going to bring him in to do some stuff, but I don't know if that is going to "definately" happen or not.

I'd never thought I'd seen a 2 cold match, nor 2 Cold at all for that matter. But he was Flash Funk?!?!??!!? Damn did that gimmik SUCK.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2004 Possibly Gillberg too, can't remember... Yes, Gillberg WAS a part of the Job Squad. They cellebrated with him when he won the Light-Heavyweight title, and I remember one night Holly and Scorpio held the sparklers for Gillberg.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2004 perhaps a spot on Smackdown wrestling other cruisers? Surely he's wrestled Mysterio and Ultimo in the past at some point an dhad decent matches with them? Provided he's motivated enough those could be good matches...perhaps bring him in as a heel... Si82 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2004 I always liked Too Cold Scorpio as worker. In fact the first match I ever saw of his was the match with Chris Benoit (the first time I had seen Benoit too!) at WCW Superbrawl III. He really impressed me in that match. I also really enjoyed his run in ECW. Once he went to the WWF though he career was flushed down the crapper thanks to the 70's pimp gimmick of Flash Funk and no push. The last I heard of him was in 2003 when he was a big name in NOAH. Anyone know what he's up to now?

He recently wrestled on the 7/10/04 NOAH Tokyo Dome show in front of over 58,000 people.....so I'd say he's doing alright for himself. Also, he's going to be wrestling on an upcoming Ring of Honor show as well.
Guest SethforPrez840 Report post Posted August 4, 2004 2 Cold in ROH, that could be cool. If he's still as good as he used to be. I havent got to see any of his recent NOAH stuff.
