WrestlingFan4Ever Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Does anyone know any good file sharing programs that actually work and have no pop-ups? Kazaa simply doesn't work that well for me anymore because I can never seem to get the damn song to download, not to mention it slows down my whole computer and has damn pop-ups. I can't find a download for Kazaa-Lite anymore, unless anyone here can send me it. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks everybody.
Golgo 13 Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 1) Get rid of Kazaa. Not tomorrow, not next week. NOW. It's worthless, with Lite out there. You no doubt have all kinds of ad and spyware on your computer from it. 2) Kazaa Lite is now under the moniker of Kazaa Lite Resurrection. Someone else can help you out with a link. 3) Soulseek is highly recommended. I think the site is slsk.net. 4) An old favorite of mine is WinMX. Grab that, too.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Say goodbye to Kazaa altogether. Lite, Resurrection, whateverthefuck. Even if the program doesn't come with spyware and all that, the files are more likely to. Besides, Soulseek is way way way way way better and you're less likely to get jacked up by virused and cut songs. Other than that you should be able to fill in any holes with irc or dc++. But you'll surely get what you're looking for out of soulseek. If you were running Kazaa previously, run AdAware and SpyBot like yesterday.
Placebo Effect Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Once you get more than a couple Gigs of music, DC++ is awesome.
BifEverchad Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 LimeWire is good Isnt that blocked with ad and Spyware too?
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Can we have this pinned in here or a thread in Tech since this is coming quite regularly?
Golgo 13 Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Meh. I've never had a problem with that crap on KL/KLR. I think as long as you don't go downloading anything and everything willy nilly without looking at file info and shit, you'll be fine. Granted, I'd rather not have to go to those lengths, but still. And LimeWire got rid of all of that. Supposedly. I have it, but can't really use it for extended lengths because it slows my comp a crawl.
Ravenbomb Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 I really only use Limewire when KL isn't finding what I'm looking for, but when I use it it's good
Guest PlatinumBoy Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I use Kazaa Lite with Peer Guardian to get some extra protection. Occasionaly use LimeWire. I do hear WinMX is good, but Kazaa Lite has the basic Mp3s I want--though it lately has been real bad about choice of Mp3s. I'd advise any of you who use Kazaa or Kazaa Lite (it may even work for other file sharing programs) to download Peer Guardian.... great program.
razazteca Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I just use Newsgroups with the program Agent for all of my download needs and Kazaa on rare occassions.
Krankor Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Ares is a pretty good file sharing program also. I've been able to find everything I want on it with a lot more options in bitrates of songs.
