DARRYLXWF Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Basically, in 7 days I have to participate in a long distance run. My question is, is there any point in doing a few jogs in the upcoming week? Like, will it actually help me lose a few seconds in my timing?
Art Sandusky Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 It might not shave time, but it'll help your heart and lungs prepare.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Why participate in a sport you don't like?
DARRYLXWF Posted August 3, 2004 Author Report Posted August 3, 2004 It's a charity, and I'm a selfish-less idiot.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Oh, I thought this was like a regular team you were on. Stay hydrated, I guess. Running's running, you should know what to expect.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Smoke a bunch of cancer sticks beforehand, so when you throw up while running people will think you are care so much for whatever cause you're running for...
Golgo 13 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 This is why I stay away from charitable causes.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 If you really want to piss someone off, tell a person who is involved in one of these "Fight Against Cancer March-Rally-etc." that you're rooting for Cancer to win and that you don't want to donate anything to the opposition. Good times will be had by all. Or at least some...
Slayer Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Running, for reasons other than life-and-death situations, sucks
The Tino Standard Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 How long is the actual race? If it's any more than a mile or two, no amount of training in a week is going to help you much.
The Czech Republic Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Running probably gives you cancer, making the whole "Running For Cancer" either terribly counterproductive or darkly ironic.
Ravenbomb Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 What about skipping?... only if you're skipping merrily, and if you're doing that you may as well be frolicking
Guest Vitamin X Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 If you really want to piss someone off, tell a person who is involved in one of these "Fight Against Cancer March-Rally-etc." that you're rooting for Cancer to win and that you don't want to donate anything to the opposition. Good times will be had by all. Or at least some... At least in this case, you'll have a reason to run.
lomasmoney Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 If you are doing like a 5 mile race or less just do some light distance work and some fast paced repeat miles and you will be fine, and to those who think running sucks, I disagree. I ran CC/Track in high school and during the running seasons, I never felt better in my life. I was in great shape, I ate better because let's face it pancakes, bacon, eggs, and two glasses of milk isn't the best thing for you when you are running anywhere from 5-15 miles that day. Running can be really good for you if you can be consiestient and set up a schedule
The Mandarin Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Do a bunch of flights of stairs, if you can find any. If your friends live in apartments, go up to the top floor and run back down a number of times depending on how many floors they have in the building.
