Guest SP-1 Report post Posted August 5, 2004 I live in Charleston, and you ask if places here are supposed to be haunted. Do you have all day to read about them. Yeah Charleston is probably one of the most supernaturally active cities in the world. But then my definition of haunted is probably different from the norm. It's not a can of worms I wish to open though.

TSA09 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2004 While in college, my friends and I did see the "black Jesus statue" in Huntsville, TX. The stories are true. My boss's boyfriend has seen it as well. Done the road from me is a house that dates back to the german people that first settled on the land. Th house is said to be haunted, the family is buried in the front yard (the tombstones are visiable from the street) It is said that no one can live in the house for longer than 6 months because the family believes it is thiers. Guest Horse hockey! Report post Posted August 5, 2004 There's a haunted train station turned steakhouse about half an hour from me. Eaten there a couple times, felt a presence (I believe) once. It's in a book of national haunted places or some such, complete with a picture of a ghost at the bar.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted August 5, 2004 But then my definition of haunted is probably different from the norm. It's not a can of worms I wish to open though. You tease. I figured you needed some excitement in your life, DH. There's definitely a presence in my house, to stay on topic. If you've ever heard of "Shadow People", I've witnessed one here. Guest Fook Report post Posted August 5, 2004 Ontario - Mississauga - Cherry Hill House - This 18th century house was built with stone and wood from an apparent Indian burial ground. The house was usually abandoned due to paranormal experiences. Now a restaurant some guest's and employees have seen glowing images and have been witnesses to moving objects. This one's about five minutes from where I went to high school. My brother's friends have told me stories about weird happenings that occurred when they once went there during the night to check it out. I don't believe any of it but they swear it's true. The debate continues...
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted August 5, 2004 It's the older houses that tend to manifest crap like that. I used to spend hours researching stuff like this when I was younger.
Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2004 Wow... Oregon is really haunted. I think I might have to go check a few of these places out. I've spent a few hours alone at night in Lithia Park in Ashland, and I didn't experience any sort of "haunted" feeling.

MooreMark 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Ontario - Ajax - North Ajax Forest - There used to be a forest in North East Ajax, when you go in the forest your feel a presence and its as if someone is watching over you. Bushes rattle behind you, and you hear your name called. The area is now filled with town homes. Ontario - Ajax - On the Lake - The area which is now a huge park and hiking trail used to belong to a farmer and his family and long time ago. When his wife had children 4 of them had died so there is a small grave site at the edge of a river surrounded by dense tree and bushes there is no path to lead you to it except a small dirt path that has been made by humans walking back and forth to the grave site when you go in there and a REALLY hot day the grave site turns freezing cold and when u go in there on a REALLY cold winter day the grave site turns really hot and also on the banks of the river you can also sometimes here men screaming for help because there boats sunk and they drowned in the rapids of the river Ontario - Ajax - Pickering - Salem rd schoolhouse - Now a peaceful community center with a lovely bell house on it has been the sighting ground of multiple ghost children. Ontario - Ajax - Salem Cemetery - Several apparitions have been reported in the older part of this cemetery, which dates back to the 1700's ghost like apparitions and phenomenon have been quite reserved to that area. Those 4 are all with in 5 minutes drive but I haven't heard of any of those happenings.

Guest AndrewisyourHero Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Supposedly the old Mental Hospital here in Whitby, Ontario is haunted. I can't verify that, though Update: Yep. The bit about it being abandoned for almost 15 years is bullshit, thought. It stopped being used in 96. Ontario - Whitby - The Whitby Pysch - abandoned for almost 15 years - reports of a man wearing the old uniforms and walking in the parts of the hospital shut down and at first you think it's just a man but you see the gardens and flowers through him. There's a man in the basement that waves at you and appears as a tall dark shadow hunched over. On one of the floors you hear a spirit walking up and down the halls dragging one of his feet as though he's limping and then he plays with the elevators but when employees go to check what the noise is nothing has been disturbed. Feelings of many spirits and of being followed.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted August 6, 2004 While there was an article in the campus newspaper last year about tagging along with ghost-hunters in a run-down, abandoned mansion, I've been to/know all the places on this list, and they're crocks of shit. Santa Cruz - Grahm Hill Road Cemetery - There is a cemetery on the left hand side of the road when going up Grahm Hill road right off of Highway 17 in S.C. This cemetery is pretty strange there is a lot of action going on in here. You can see faces and things moving inside of the cemetery. If you pull into the driveway towards the end of the cemetery and shine your headlights you will see a white figure coming towards you. MOVE! This ghost is not friendly. There are many orbs that you can see with the naked eye and some strange noises heard from the East end of the Cemetery. Faces are seen in the headstones and Dark shadows above them. If this is the cemetary I think it is, pulling into the driveway is a necessary turnaround to get to the many businesses in the surrounding area. The fucking Costco next door's scarier than this place. Santa Cruz - Porter College - B Building - 3rd floor North of the B building - Over the years, a number of people residing on the hall have experienced waking up from a dead sleep and feeling as though they were being strangled and held to their bed as they tried to sit up. Eventually the feelings subsided. Also to clarify, there are several other 'ghosts' known to reside in the A building as well, some are known to wander the 2nd floor of A building, and the B-building's "Bermuda Triangle" still holds residents. The man's name who ended his life in the fourth floor of B building's name is David. Santa Cruz - University of California Santa Cruz - Porter College - A Building - On the fifth floor of A building a student killed himself and is occasionally seen walking down the hall dressed as he was when he died. Santa Cruz - University of California Santa Cruz - Porter College - B Building - On the first floor of B building three rooms are known as the "Bermuda Triangle" This hall is no longer occupied but when it was there were many reports of noises and voices heard, objects flying across the rooms and a feeling that there was something extremely malicious there. The malicious feeling persists for people just walking down the hall. Strange, I have several friends who've lived on B3, including B3N and even the "Bermuda Triangle", and I've never heard them report any such incident (I've even walked down their hall visiting them many times too). I have heard the folklore though, and many times, yet always happening to somebody else's friend (hmmmm)...it seems the ghosts have become as dispirited with the campus as we are. By the way, I'm not sure when this was written, but I've never known any part of B building to be unoccupied. There are parts where there are less people, such as the "Bat Caves" (B1...home of the alleged "Bermuda Triangle", and the area second-most reported by fellow students as "haunted", the first being A4 [there is no A5, another factual error on this site], where my girlfriend will be RA next year, so I'll have plenty of time to investigate ). Santa Cruz - Red, White and Blue Beach - A woman was killed at this beach by her boyfriend. Apparently, her ghost is seen haunting the beach. I've never been, but this is one of the most popular nude beaches in the area. Why? Because people (particularly single women) can go there and feel "safe". Santa Cruz - San Jose - Highway 17 - People have claimed to see the ghost of an old Indian man walking along the road. He is supposedly the cause of all the accidents. No, the accidents are caused by people speeding through backed-up intersections and blind curves. For more info on Highway 17, check this page. Santa Cruz - The Rispin Mansion - Upstairs is haunted by a woman in a Victorian black dress who is looking for a book, she also opens doors even heavily locked and bolted or nailed ones and windows. Downstairs, a man with glasses is seen in the empty fireplace, and in the basement an angry dog, probably from when local police used the place for search dog training, haunts the stairway and front door. Also a heard calls out for help from the basement. This may be the decrepit old mansion visited by the campus reporter/ghost hunting team. If so, no such activities were mentioned in the article (although a crumbling banister/stairway almost led to one of the reporters falling to join the spirits). If not, I honestly can't say, because I haven't heard of this place before. Santa Cruz - University of California Santa Cruz - Porter College - The Meadow - The third spirit is a transient named Lily that lived in the meadow near Porter in the 70s, she is seen walking around the meadow, either in rags or naked. Walking aroudn the meadow, either in rags or naked? That description fits anyone in the Meadow after dark, and half during daylight. People are probably just overzealous about their run-ins with the transients and Tree People. Santa Cruz - White Lady - In the back woods off of Grahm Hill Rd. Very creepy. Voices of a old woman. Sometimes see a white lady walking around. See above and the cemetary, since this is in the same area. Survey says? Bullshit. At least in my area. But then, I say the same for reportedly haunted rooms in and around my own college. I think believing for so long has turned me into the hardest skeptic. Which isn't a bad thing. Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Ontario - Windsor - Retirement Home - Only a few years ago, there was a lovable old woman who resided in a local retirement home. She was adored by all, and dearly missed when she expired. Before she died she was confined to a motorized wheel chair. Only a few weeks after she died residents and staff members were stunned when they could hear the whirring of the electric motor racing up and down the hallways. Some people have even reported seeing her little orange flag she had flown from the back of the chair, and her voice in the halls. Staff members feel that she wanted to live, and continues to do so blasting up and down the halls, in her craftmatic chair, with her little orange flag, saying "how are you today sweet cakes"...Most feel blessed that she still remains. Ontario - Windsor - Texas Road - washed out several years ago, and never repaired. The fallen bridge has some very strange happenings and seems to sway. There is a wooded hollow between the bridge and the cemetery adjacent always has a strange glow even though there are no surrounding lights anywhere in the area. It has a very ominous presence of its own. Texas Road used to (still sort of does) pass through the hollow, and adjacent to the cemetery to another county road. It has since been closed off, and the intersection fixed. There is no evidence of where the two roads met. Ontario - Windsor - University of Windsor - Beckett House - This is the AngliCampus of the University of Windsor. This dorm is actually an old house with about 10 bedrooms. Year after year students tell stories regarding strange happenings. Legend has it that a woman was murdered there decades ago when the home was first built, and this spirit is particularly cruel to men. Ontario - Windsor - University of Windsor - Laurier Hall - residents repeatedly report strange occurrences such as eerie sounds, presences and occurrences. Toilets flush by themselves, floors thump, objects are moved, and curtains are opened and closed without anyone being in the room. There are also a series of tunnels that have been closed off for many years, without explanation. Ontario - Windsor - Ye Old Bowie House - Rumors have surfaced of a ghostly figure entering rooms at this historic pub. The figure resembles Sir James Bowie III, who vanished off Lake St. Clair shores from a boating accident. These reports have indicated extreme displays of taunting from the entity. All who have come into contact with the spirit have stated ultimate boredom from the experience. Interestingly, I have actually been in Beckett House, since I lived right at a near house, and had a few friends who lived there. Apparently, they had run into some weird stuff there, but, alas, during my short stay, I didn't see any ghosts. How I miss University.
spiny norman 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 New South Wales - Sydney - Castle Hill High - Haunted by ex student who committed suicide , in the quadrangle at night time a man has been said 2 watch you from one of the windows and witnesses have seen weird orbs floating on the school hall and often hear screams of a young girl. That's about five minutes from my school. I have never heard of such a thing.
DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Here's the ones I've heard of: Long Island - Lake Ronkonkoma - Lake Ronkonkoma has a haunted past. One legend is about a Setauket Sachem Indian who was not permitted to marry his love from another tribe. He paddled his canoe out to the middle of the lake and committed suicide via a knife to his heart. His body was recovered in another lake in Connecticut. Another is of a young beautiful Indian Princess who was not permitted to marry her pale face lover and she canoed out on the lake and was found dead by him. He in turn got into the canoe and was swept away, never to be seen again. Apparently, there has been a reported drowning each and every year due to a curse placed upon the lake. The myth is that the lake is bottomless. It rises and lowers mysteriously and is rumored to have a secret underwater Connection that stems for miles. Some of the drowning victims as well as the princess are said to still haunt the lake and It's surrounding area. Long Island - Centereach High School Track - Back in 1997, there was an off-duty FDNY firefighter running track on a highschool track near his house. There were some kids who had a gun and they wanted to see what it felt like to shoot someone, so they waited in the woods until the fireman came around the northeast corner of the track, then they shot him. Both boys were arrested and convicted for killing the firefighter. Not long after, people reported seeing a glowing figure running along the track. Others have seen the body of a man laying on the track then dissappearing, all in the same spot he was shot, the northeast corner of lane 5. Most people won't go over to the northeast bleachers because they have the feeling of being watched. When visiting football teams come to visit, they and their fans refuse to sit in the visitors bleachers, as those lie on the northeastern part of the field. That part has now become mostly abandoned. Kings Park - Kings Park Psychiatric Center - Voices of patients who were tortured and died here years ago still today roam the hallways, screaming and crying. Many people who have visited the haunting hospital have seen many unexplained images.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Wichita - Robinson Middle School - There's a lady/girl that walks around the hall ways after dark. She makes the locks of the lockers clank, and bounce against them. I went to middle school here and I remember this story. Someone even had collection of pictures with the notable white whisps that ghost-chasers believe are roaming spirits. Wichita - Henrion Gymnasium [at Wichita State]- Now housing the Sculpture/Ceramics departments. It has been said that it is haunted by an old maintenance worker who was accidentally electrocuted in the 1950's. The story goes that this worker stood up and came into contact with a live wire without his hardhat on, and was killed. Stories have it that it is him that is sometimes seen late at night or in the wee hours of the morning. Wichita - Wichita State University - Wilner Auditorium - several accounts of voices, doors opening and closing, and lights flickering have been noticed by students. The ghost is believed to be that of building namesake. Wichita - Wichita State University - Many students have complained of mysterious footsteps and unknown knocking on doors, and closing and shutting of doors, televisions turning on by themselves. gray dress when followed her she disappears. I go to WSU and I've never heard of any of these... hell, the last one doesn't even specify a building.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 There are a ton near where I live now (Andover, MA) but none of them are listed on that page. The bar that I drink at is a converted funeral home, and the people that work there are always telling creepy stories of shit that happens late at night. One of the bartenders told me about a time that he had grabbed some balloons from a party to bring home to his kids. He was cleaning the front tables when he heard the door open in the other room, and since he was the only person there he went to check it out. The door in question is a swinging door, and normally takes a few swings to stop moving. But this time the door was completely still, and one balloon was in the bar. The others were where he'd left them. And all the doors were locked, no one else was there, but one balloon found a way to open a door, close the door and escape from the others. geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 The back room of my grandparents house, where both of my great grandparents died is supposed to be haunted. No one will sleep in that room except me, they say they have seen things, and the room is noticeably cooler than the rest of the house all the time. While I have noticed the temp difference I have never seen anything. My mom and sister say it is because I am not open to things, I do not know what that means but it sounds like bullshit. I have not been in that room in a long time, but I seriously doubt it is haunted. Also, one time back in high school I took a date to the movies. She lived about a mile away from the movies so we just walked, I was too young to drive at the time. We went to see the Blair Witch Project. After I walked her home I went on my way back to my house. To get to my house I needed to cut through about a mile of woods where an old folks home used to be, the movie did not get out until midnight so it was dark out. It was a pretty decent walk, about a half mile up hill to get to where the run down building was and then another half a mile down hill where I would reach a street and cut across to get into my subdivision. Of course with any run down building everyone said it was haunted with no proof to back up their argument. Surprise, surprise I reached home fine. However, once I told my sister about what I did last evening I got the nickname Clay, as in Clay Shrout the kid from Cincy who killed his parents and sisters and then went to his high school looking for more in 1994. It has now become a running joke in my family that I cannot sense things like ghosts. I am still not sure what sensing ghosts means, perhaps that means they are right, or perhaps they are just full of shit.
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Kearns - Kearns JR High - In the middle school where many students attuned all there class have spoke of a family at the top of the stairs standing there looking at you and walking away really slow the shadows of what the middle school students speak of is a mother a father 2 girls and one boy. Uh, what the... I went to this school for three years and I never saw that. No, the rumours I heard involved the showers. But those rumours may have had something to do with a massive infestation of rats. Moses Lake - Columbia Basin Alternative High School - This haunting has been described as mysterious noises that happen around 11:30 P.M., and also a smoke-like apparition with only the legs showing is seen running down the hallway. An alarm has also been heard. I'll bet that this one had something to do with my brother and his friends. Fucking slackers.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 This area in Upstate NY is kind of small so I live very close to a lot of these places on the list. Albany, Troy, Schenetady, Cohoes, Latham, etc,. A lot of these stories I've heard about. I've gone a few times to these cemeteries when I was younger with friends and never saw or felt a damn thing. Schenectady - Veil Cemetery on State Street - Several of the statues bleed from their eyes and tops of their heads, and sometimes "cry out" at night. Apparitions, both white and black, have been sighted roaming through the graves and sitting up in trees. The old church on the site houses many apparitions. Strange lights can be seen in the windows, and an eerie "singing" can be heard just beyond the front doors. Troy - Forest Park / Pine wood cemetery - Forest Park cemetery (also known as Pinewood Cemetery is known to be in the top ten haunted cemeteries in the country. It is an old deserted cemetery- no new bodies have been buried there for many years. Many ghosts have been sighted there, photos of strange things have also been taken and published in the local newspapers. A renowned psychic says the cemetery was build on an Indian burial ground, and the spiritual activity is very turbulent and malicious. Troy - Troy Cemetery - Long after midnight, especially on Halloween; many people have reported witnessing the statue of the Holy Mary crying blood. Along with other ghostly sightings throughout the cemetery. The Troy Cemetery has been called one of the most haunted cemeteries in the United States. treble 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Ontario - Brockville - Fulford Mansion - it is a mansion (now a museum) that was owned by George T. Fulford in the early 1900's. Many of the volunteers have seen a ghost walking the halls. It has never harmed anyone and seems to be friendly. They have this Ghost Walk thing here in the summer, too, and there are a bunch more places that apparently are haunted.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Ontario - Wainfleet - Hopkins Tomb Lakeshore Road - John Hopkins was said to have been a pirate on Lake Erie. He was put into a tomb alive with his dog and left to die. As legend has it, he placed a curse on the tomb. Anyone who tried to get into it or if brave enough to run around it on a full moon, would have a nasty accident Cr death. It is also said on some nights that you hear his dog howling and hear him pounding on the tomb door demanding to be released I've heard much stories about this, whether they are true or not, I don't know
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Nova Scotia - Halifax - During the great explosion in Halifax harbor a man was blasted through an upper floor window in St. Paul's Church. To this day his profile appears in the glass of that window. Over the years the window and/or glass has been replaced, but the darkened silhouette reappears. That's the only one on the list I've seen, so far as I can tell. It's neat. I know they're missing some though - they have a ghost walk tour here in the summer where this guy walks you around town telling you various ghost stories. There was one about this house that has a large, pitch-black window. I forget what the story is exactly, but I know there's two versions. One involves a father who disapproves of his daughter's boyfriend, so he paints the window black so they can act like they're not home or something. This leads to her killing herself. The other I think involved someone selling his soul to Satan, and that window was where Satan pased through to collect. Same deal as the other window though - gets replaced, then looks just like it did before. Neat site.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2004 St. Louis - Lemp Mansion - One of the most haunted buildings in the city. Cold spots, electrical anomalies, feelings of being watched, a piano that plays a note in the night, vibration from the floors, feelings of sadness, tapping on shoulders, and many photographic anomalies, film and digital. Only of interest because the Lemp Brewery has a haunted house during Halloween Hazelwood - Starlite Café and Billiards - now know as Action Cafe- Reports of feeling a prcense walk past you, seeing a shaowy figure, seeing red eyes moving through the place, cold spots felt, and an apparition of an older man have all been experienced Florissant - Haunted Insane Asylum - This haunted insane asylum is located on McLaran road which is off of Jenning's station road. You keep your eye on the left while driving and you'll know which house it is. Witnesses report hearing music and seeing orbs everywhere. Florissant - Parker Roads Elementary - A lot of people might not know this, but this elementary school is an eerie place. About sixty years ago, before the school was ever built and before the neighborhood around was constructed, there was a cemetery in the area where the school is now. The state ordered the owners of Leaf Brown Cemetery to dig up the graves so that the bodies could be relocated to another cemetery. Well, the diggers stupidly forgot to remove one of the bodies. The reason they didn't notice it there before, was because the body was buried so deep. Now, the ghost of the dead body haunts the elementary school. Some children have spotted the ghost in some of the bathrooms. It is said that the ghost is a woman in a black dress with long blond wavy hair, and no eyes. She sometimes approaches the children quickly and tries to catch them. Luckily they've managed to get away. They say teachers and other faculty can't see the ghost. Only children can see her. Any "only kids can see it" thing instantly sounds like bullshit to me
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 6, 2004 Technically, the area of Miami also includes Hialeah, Kendall, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, and anything else that's not the Beach (that would be Miami Beach..duh)... Miami - Southwest Miami High School - Auditorium - Sometimes the TV’s turn on by themselves, music can be heard, a guy and a girl whispering. Supposedly a janitor died in there, and an old drama club president while fixing lights on the catwalk died also and were never found until the next day. Miami - Southwest Miami High School - Library - According to the librarians many who have worked there for several years books are constantly rearranged after organized and lights flicker. My girlfriend used to go to that school, I should ask her about that. That's not NEARLY as interesting as this story from nearby Hialeah though.. Hialeah - Hialeah High School - The bathroom near the auditorium: A couple of years ago, a freshmen had gone to the bathroom during her 3rd period class. A couple of boys raped her and banged her up so bad that she bled to death in the bath room and no one found out until after school hours when a janitor was went to clean the bathroom. Now, she haunts that bathroom and can not leave until the five boys who raped her die. Students have seen her sitting in the corner of the bathroom, on top of her own blood, rocking front and back chanting "when will they die...". Mmmm... sexy.
