The Czech Republic Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Wrigley Field rightfully calls bullshit on the WORST UMP CALL I HAVE SEEN IN WEEKS!
Bruiser Chong Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Agreed. That fat fuck had the god damn play right in front of him and it wasn't even CLOSE. What a crock of bullshit.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 My dad and I just destroyed our living room.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 I think it was Al who said he had ranking of all the umps in baseball. I'd be curious to see where Froeming ranks. That man needs glasses or at least a breast reduction so he can see what's going on in front of him.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Padres had a runner on first down 2-0. Ground ball almost up the middle is stopped by Grudz, who flips it to Nomar, and looks to get the force out. The Padres' runner makes an unorthodox "slide" that makes Nomar throw an off-balance throw, which winds up in the seats. Froeming called the runner safe at second, citing that Nomar wasn't on the base when he had the ball and thus, runners move up to second and third with nobody out. Replays from every angle show that Nomar was clearly on the base when he had the ball and had the runner out by a mile. More drama later in the inning, as a Padre wasn't called out on what appeared to be a failed check swing, leading to the ejection of Larry Rothschild.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 NOMAR~!!! with a two-run shot in the 7th to put the Cubs back on top. And a couple fans fell into the basket to get the ball.
The Czech Republic Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Yeah, Nomar was all over that base like jelly on toast. NO excuse to screw that up, you big-tittied man. How about we switch it up and managers start ejecting umpires for being dumbfucks.
The Czech Republic Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 I think the basket is for catching drunks moreso than baseballs, anyway.
Guest Staravenger Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 I'm still shocked at how good El Duque has been doing since his return to the Yankees.
A Happy Medium Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Fuck...the rain delays made me stop watching..I missed Nomar~! being clutch. Fiddlesticks...well, off to see if Vick gets injured tonite on ESPN.
treble Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 This has been the worst season ever. Ted Lilly goes 6 2/3, only giving up 1 run before leaving it to the bullpen with a runner on first. Ligtenberg walks the three batters he faces, tying the game at 2. Vinny Chulk comes in and gives up a grand slam to Broussard and it's 6-2 now. Â This team is going to lose 100 games.
Guest Staravenger Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Look on the bright side, they won't lose 120 games like the Tigers almost did.

They've got growth potential, and 12 of their last 48 games come against the Baltimore Orioles. I peg their chances of 100 losses at 20-25%.
treble Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 I'm not very optimistic seeing how the team has been playing lately. Granted, it's been mostly against the Yankees and the Indians at the hottest they've been all year. They play a lot better at home, though, so hopefully they can win the Baltimore series and get some momentum going so I don't get any more depressed.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 I think the basket is for catching drunks moreso than baseballs, anyway. They were originally installed to keep fans from throwing their garbage at opposing outfielders. Apparently this was a large epidemic at Wrigley, especially with half-full cups of beer.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 13, 2004 Author Report Posted August 13, 2004 Surprising news from Cleveland. The Indians have released Alex Escobar. Escobar's stock has plummetted the last few seasons. Hard to believe he was once one of the five best prospects in baseball.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 13, 2004 Author Report Posted August 13, 2004 With all the games final I might as well unpin this baby.
