Who do you think was the greatest stable ever? Doesn't matter if its current or not. I vote for the 4 Horsemen.

Hart Foundation.

 

Only around for a few months but they were so awesome. I love how in the US they were the biggest heels but everywhere else they were heroes. That's not even mentioning how most of the stuff Bret was saying was true(as the idiot fans proved):

For me, it's a tie between the Heenan Family and the Hart Foundation.

Yeah, it might have been. Sorry if it was. I forgot about the Hart Foundation; a great stable but IMO just a notch below the Horsemen.

I don't like to say it, but nWo leads the list. Nation of Domination is an underdog, but the stable still could be considered. Or even look at Right to Censor. I know Right to Censor wasn't as popular as say nWo, DX or Hart Foundation, but that stable got a bunch of people over who usually wouldn't be; i.e. Stevie Richards. I have never seen Stevie Richards so over in any stable, including the Flock; which is also another underdog stable.

Come on, Stevie can get himself over as fast as anyone. The only problem is he isn't given any exposure to do so.

Anyway on topic, I've got to go with DX. The Horsemen was way before my time; I saw very little of the nWo being that the WWF had more exposure; and I only caught the very end of the Hart Foundation. So I have to go with DX. I was a 'mark' and also quite young at the time so yelling out 'suck it' and crotch-chopping everyone was even more fun than usual.

This is a tough choice. The Horsemen were the originals, the New World Order was probably the most successful, D-Generation X helped bring about the era of "Attitude", and the Hart Foundation was the most realistic.

 

I'm going to have to go with the New World Order. The idea itself was incredible: invaders from a rival company trying to destroy tradition. The ultimate babyface turning heel, the music, the t-shirts, the black and white propaganda videos, the catchphrases, the hand gestures, and many other things. The angle literally put WCW ahead of the WWF.

Bret Hart proved himself wrong. He was a whiney egotist who had himself convinced he was a wrestling traditionalist (and yet, as Vince point out, refused to job the title when asked because he didn't get along with Michaels). And he was such a "good guy" that he didn't mind 4 on 1 beatdowns while screaming about how everyone ELSE was wrong and HE was right. Then when Austin outsmarted him time and time again to cost him the belt he would whine about "being screwed."

 

Perhaps you were too stupid (or too Canadian) to see the glaring contradictions Hart gave, while Austin's character was pretty much "what you see is what you get."

 

I vote 4 Horsemen.

I dont think they could be classified as a stable, but i loved the Flair/Perfect/Heenan triumvirate from 1992.

 

Outside of that I'm going with DX and the Four Horsemen.

I really loved that aspect of the Hart Foundation. To me, it made the angle seem much more real. The way Bret was very slowly turned into his heel character was a beautiful thing to watch. In fact, it was most likely my FAVORITE turn ever. I think what made Bret so effective in his role as a heel is because he was a heel with integrity. Most US fans hated the things he said, but at the same time many of them could see where he was coming from.

 

Back then, I remember always sympathizing with Bret's character back then. I didn't like what he said about America, but when you saw the babyfaces at the time, you couldn't help but at least partially agree with his viewpoint. The concept of "shades of grey" was never done better than with the Foundation.

 

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll see a stable like the Hart Foundation for a long-time. The degree of innovation present in the idea would be very hard to pull off today.

I also liked the Nation alot when The Rock became the leader.

that's really not true at all. Morton was always in much higher standing than Tajiri and Flair did some televised non title jobs to him too.

 

Choshu's Army is probably the best faction ever if ones looking at this objectively and actually taking time to look around the world. (especially given it shifted the balance of power twice in Japan)
