Tony149 Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 Some of you may know we currently do not have names for our September & November events, so I'm asking you, the people, to help name them. The names for last years events were Dirty Deeds (September) & Deadly Games (November). They could return if you want them, and I'd like to know what we're running with so we can plug it during AngleSlam. Let the name game begin! Here are some names Parka threw out (from something he did months back with friends I believe): Total Annihilation Global Warfare Demolition Derby Champions of the Ring (It was a King of the Ring like PPV every year) Ring Wars Street Brawl Independence Day Summer Heat Rage in the Cage The Ultimate Brawl The Last Battle A Night to Remember
Zack Malibu Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 November Reign. A play on the Guns N' Roses song that I used to use in my EWR game.
caboose Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 I am the man at this. I came up with most of the original and currently used names. ::Switches off arrogance mode:: Criticisms: Total Annihilation - Connotes guns not wrestling. Global Warfare - Again, too much emphasis on weaponary. Demolition Derby - Suggests Cars. Champions of the Ring (It was a King of the Ring like PPV every year) - Hackneyed. Ring Wars - Passable. Street Brawl - * Independence Day - Not really apllicable to a wrestlig fed. Summer Heat - Dull. Rage in the Cage - * The Ultimate Brawl - * The Last Battle - * A Night to Remember - The Best of the lot. * = All suggest one match is big and not the whole show. Deadly Games is a good'un I think it should stick. As for the September show, how about... "OAOAST Showdown!" "OAOAST Point Of No Return" (Actually this one sucks) "OAOAST Megolamania" "OAOAST Blood On The Mat" "OAOAST Ashes To Ashes" BRING THIS ONE BACK! "OAOAST The Burning" "OAOAST Fade To Black" "OAOAST Heavan & Hell" "OAOAST No Remorse" "OAOAST Never Say Never" "OAOAST My Way" "OAOAST School Of Hardknocks" (As opposed to School's Out) "OAOAST Downfall"
Hank Kingsley Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 "OAOAST Ashes To Ashes" BRING THIS ONE BACK! But the SWF used this first (and still uses it). DRAMA~
King Cucaracha Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 "OAOAST Ashes To Ashes" BRING THIS ONE BACK! SWF Ashes to Ashes - 11-7-2004 Believe me, we will sue. EDIT: Supes is teh sux00rs~! Anywho...I'd say Deadly Games is good enough to stick. Plus you could conceivably add the old 'Spin The Wheel' gimmick to the matches for something special with that name. As for other names... "OAOAST Last Angle In Tampa" (live from East Rutherford, New Jersey) "OAOAST Live & Deadly" "OAOAST Final Countdown" "OAOAST Conclusion" "OAOAST Life's A Bitch" (or B*tch if we're being PC) "OAOAST Watch Them Fall" "OAOAST At The Gates Of Hell" "OAOAST No Gimmicks Needed"
Zack Malibu Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 I think I once suggested Climax as the Dec./end of the year show. Others: OAOAST Criminal Intent (although IMO, it'd be similar to the This Ain't Oz prison theme. Could always switch it to Hostile Intent, or something). OAOAST Off The Hook OAOAST Uprising (I'd envision this as a "newcomers/upstarts vs. the veterans type of PPV) OAOAST Point of Impact OAOAST Zero Tolerance
Hoff Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 I had an idea for an event once called "Titletown." Could hold it in the summer (from Lambeau Field, was my idea), and make a point to defend every title on the show. Just something. Less a yearly PPV idea and more a special event type. Also: - OAOAST Fall From Grace (perfect for an autumn event) - OAOAST Retribution

That was the idea I once had behind Title Wave, until Northstar and I came up with the concept of having multiple titles at stake in one match. That still stands out as one of my favorite OAOAST matches to do, as well as read.
Chuck Woolery Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 You know what we should call one show? The OAOAST Coca-Cola Wrestling Extravaganza. Aces, baby. You can have Calvin on the PPV poster.
LaParkaYourCar Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 As for the September show, how about... "OAOAST Showdown!" "OAOAST Point Of No Return" (Actually this one sucks) "OAOAST Megolamania" "OAOAST Blood On The Mat" "OAOAST Ashes To Ashes" BRING THIS ONE BACK! "OAOAST The Burning" "OAOAST Fade To Black" "OAOAST Heavan & Hell" "OAOAST No Remorse" "OAOAST Never Say Never" "OAOAST My Way" "OAOAST School Of Hardknocks" (As opposed to School's Out) "OAOAST Downfall" I guess it's my turn for a rebuttle criticism...although I'll probably like his suggestions more than he liked mine. Showdown: Feels like it's missing something. Maybe put the City name after it (i.e. Showdown in Boston! Or not) Point of No Return: You're right it does suck Megolamania: It doesn't really strike me as a PPV name Blood on the Mat: Decent, but it sounds more like a subtitle Ashes to Ashes: Always loved this name...I agree bring it back The Burning: Meh...another subtitle-ish name Fade to Black: I like it Heavan & Hell: Was that an intentional typo? I hope not. No Remorse: I'm torn on whether this one sounds like a stand alone name or a subtitle Never Say Never: Would be a good subtitle for License to Pin My Way: Who's way? It would suggest a focus on one person School of Hardknocks: I actually like this one Downfall: I like this one too We are bound to find a name out of all these suggestions. If all else fails we can just go with Dirty Deeds and Deadly Games again.
Tony149 Posted August 17, 2004 Author Report Posted August 17, 2004 "OAOAST Ashes To Ashes" BRING THIS ONE BACK! Ashes to Ashes: Always loved this name...I agree bring it back The show was set to return until I saw the SWF using the name a few months after we did our A2A. Remember the OAOAST's version took place on the VM forum (for those who remember that) before moving back here. Another useless tidbit: we either called it "Ashes II Ashes" (pretty sure this is the name we stuck with) or "Ashes 2 Ashes". I guess we could use DUST TO DUST. I'm thinking of going with Downfall & Deadly Games if a clear favorite doesn't emerge.

Actually I think I was drinking and looking through my mp3 list... Megalomania (Muse) Fade to Black & No Remorse (Metallica) My Way (Limp) School of Hardknocks (POD) Downfall (Trust Company)
Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 OAOAST September Showdown...?
Patty O'Green Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Just name them after S Club 7 songs and be done with it.
King Cucaracha Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 In that case, I vote Don't Stop Movin'.
Patty O'Green Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I was thinking Do It 'Till We Drop
Zack Malibu Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I like "Natural" myself. But that would require us to wrestle nude, and there's NO WAY I'm doing that. Although I am the guy feuding with the female...
CanadianChick Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Fortune Faded? Yeah, I know it's a complete ripoff of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but I think it could work.
Zack Malibu Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 We could just use "Faded" and have the theme done by Soul Decision. I think only Northstar and I even KNOW that song, let alone like it.
CanadianChick Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 We could just use "Faded" and have the theme done by Soul Decision. I think only Northstar and I even KNOW that song, let alone like it. Unfortunatley, I know the song too... Kinda faded, but I feel alright Thinking about making my move tonight....
Zack Malibu Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Whaddya mean "unfortunately"? That song is quite awesome, and a fun club tune. I also saw them live as part of a local radio station concert back in 2000.
Hoff Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Faded was Germaine Crowell's official theme song until he blew his knee. True story.
Patty O'Green Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Faded fucking rules!!!!!! KNOW THIS! That song was the shit in 12th grade. We listened to it all the time during hockey practice. Any thing else by Soul Decision sucks. Except Ooh it's kinda crazy. That song was natural.
Rob E Dangerously Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 The September PPV should be called PinFall and Patty, is that Maggie Gylanhaal in your avatar?
Patty O'Green Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Yep that's Maggie. Am I correct in stating that people don't like PPV names that are sentences? Such as "Dial AS for AngleSlam" or "This ain't OZ"

I wonder what happened to those guys.
Tony149 Posted August 22, 2004 Author Report Posted August 22, 2004 Am I correct in stating that people don't like PPV names that are sentences? Such as "Dial AS for AngleSlam" or "This ain't OZ" Market research suggests kids love the names. And for those who care, names still haven't been picked yet. You have until Saturday to find a name for Sept. or Dirty Deeds will return. Or I could let the OAOAST Champion pick the names.
NYU Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 OAOAST NO FEEDBACK! Coming to you in September....
