I Met Some WWE Superstars Today

Recommended Posts

Guest TigerDriver91

I went to the special WWE SummerSlam event at Ontario Place today, and managed to meet some wrestlers...

Chris Benoit, who had the world title with him... I got his autograph and we talked for a little bit... I congratulated him on his world title victory. Still cannot believe I met my favourite wrestler ever.

Lita - she was really nice and looked rather hot on this day. Cool to talk to as well... Hey why doesn't she look pregnant?

Victoria - she was cool, too, but it was near the end of her session so didn't get to say much.

Gail Kim - say what you will about this lady, but she is so fucking sweet and friendly.

Due to long lineups and the wrestlers sessions being scattered through the park, it was impossible to meet all of them, so I missed out on Orton, Cena, Edge and Hardy, which was disappointing.

I got several pictures too, so hopefully they develop nicely.

OMG I should change my name to "mark" because of this fucking post. ;)

Sounds cool. Did you get something cool for Benoit to sign?

A photo in a recent Raw magazine article about his return to Edmonton. There was a HUGE crowd for his autograph session.

Today also reminded me of how much I hate marks.

Even the most hardened smarks turn into marks around these big-time wrestlers, even ones they ride the most. Nothing wrong with it, I enjoy letting myself become a gawky kid when I go to these events.

I was referring to a conversation with a fan who believes that HBK really does have crushed larynx in real life due to the attack by Kane. The lady he was with had absolutely no clue how to pronounce Korea either... much less any knowledge of it even being a (split) country.

Exactly. You don't want to come off as a fucking tool by trying to act "l33t" around your favourite wrestler/s.

Nice work TigerDriver. It's a shame you didn't meet Rene Dupree - one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I bumped into him outside of his hotel last year and we chatted for ages. Excellent guy.

What a letdown, from the thread title I was sure you were going to describe a meeting with WWE "Superstar" Shawn Daivari.

Ironically, before he was signed to the developmental deal, the local indy fed that I work for was thinking of bringing him in for our 9/11 show.

Hard to think of him as a WWE superstar. I have doubts that he'll get very far, anyway.

Obviously he's not, I was just being sarcastic and mocking the two threads from earlier this week that referred to him as a superstar.

I'd still mark if he did the magic carpet ride on WWE TV.

Since this is a topic about meeting wrestlers, I figured i'd chuck this in. A few years ago, when I met Jamie Noble (when he first started the redneck gimmick), the guy is a class act. One of the nicest guys i've ever met in my life.

Good to hear. I went to Axxess in Seattle a year and a half ago and it was a pretty big let down, being overcrowded and Undertaker being a total asshole.

When I got Victoria's autograph she didn't like her pics in the women of wrestling magazine, but other than that she was nice.

Hey congrats on your experience. Its always great to meet and talk to a WWE Superstar, even if its a jobber.

I met almost everyone on the roster over the last couple of years and I haven't really had a problem with anybody although I did get blown off by Paul Heyman and Theodore Long, but I was expecting that to happen anyway. :D

I met Tazz 6 years ago when ECW was doing promotion for the Heatwave 98 PPV, he was a very cool guy, granted these were at sanctioned meet n greets but he was really down to earth, complete opposite of his character at the time, much more like how he comes across on Smackdown today.

And Mick Foley was always approachable.

I met Tazz in 2000, and he was mega cool. Very funny in person. He was trying to maintain his tough gimmick during the autograph signing, but I made him laugh. He was making fun of this kid that we were hanging out with, and I told Tazz that his mom's a slut. Tazz turned around, looked him dead in the eye and said "He said your mom's a whore...."

And then started laughing his ass off. That was quite an accomplishment for me.

You should've met Hardy and told him you were a writer for 411 Mania.

Hey, now that's not very nice at all, but still funny.

This was the most overcrowded, loud event I ever saw. I was there for 10 minutes before leaving unhappy and feeling like my ears could bleed. Plus, it looked nowhere near as good as the past two Axxess events did on TV, and at the Seattle Nordstrom's coffee shop I overheard a woman who went to both 17 and 18 bitch that Axxess sucked compared to the last two times, so I must not be alone.

Who did I see before I got out for the sake of my own hearing? FBI and A-Train. Yawn.

I was fortunate enough to meet Benoit as well back in HWA when he was rehabbing his neck. It's true, he is incredibly nice. My friends and I reworked Edge/Christian's kazoo song for him in honor of the event.

"Chris Benoit is here and he's really nice!

Chris Benoit is here and he's really friendly!"

I haven't met many superstars, but Edge was really a sweetie. Coach was nice too, which was kinda cool. Lita, Matt Hardy, and the Hurricane were bastards because they lost their rental car, so they were too huffy to come sign anything at the last event we were at. *sigh* Hurricane is one of my favorites too, it was such a let down to be ignored by the Hurri-dork. I think my heart's still broken.

I was too gawky to say anything to Edge, plus he thought I made a dirty comment and that was weird. :P Some guy was like, "Spear me Edge!" and he said, "No thank you sir, that sounds terrible" and some extremely short girl said, "How about me?" and he looks up, and who does he see? Me. He grins and says, "Now that sounds better".

A little awkward, I suppose, but still a cool experience. I think I was beet red.
