Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2004 Something no one noted, and something that was damned worth mentioning: Last night marked a year that Coach has been heel!
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2004 What exactly is wrong with the WWE title? Its was given away on a fluke. A title's value comes not from just its history, but how hard the person was percieved to have worked to get it. The JBL character was awarded a title shot for kicking some Mexicans out of the country (nothing to do with wrestling). Then he later won it on a technicality. The man selected to be pushed as champion was unable to get over as anything but a backstage character. His reigns as a tag champ are not note-worthy, his reign as European champ was forgettable. His reign as Hardcore champ was forgettable. He basically went from being half of a losing tag team to number-one contender in the period of one PPV cycle. If JBL had won a tournament to get into the title picture (even by excessively cheating), or some other thing to get over before being handed a title shot, we wouldn't be having this conversation. The WWE title, as a result, has been given the distinction of being something ANYONE can win.
Guest 2pacallyps Report post Posted August 17, 2004 I'd give anything to see Fedor Emelianenko beat the sh*t out Taker and show him how to throw a punch and not miss by ten feet. As soon as he gets his cut taken care off he'll take out Nog(Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira) once and for all. I think Fedor was channeling UT when he no sold that suplex from the one punch wonder Kevin Randleman.
Guest The Hurra Duff Report post Posted August 17, 2004 I thought the PPV last night was decent, just nothing very special. The 6 man match was a great opener and the crowd seemed into it, especially the last 2 or 3 minutes. Paul London at last gets on PPV. Rating:6.5/10 Kane vs. Matt Hardy was decent for a squash match. The choke slam off the top rope finisher by Kane was pretty cool. Rating:5/10 Cena vs. Booker T. was pretty dull and those two need to pick it up if they're gonna get 5 matches out of this series. Rating: 3/10 I was very disappointed in the Batista vs. Jericho vs. Edge match. First, it was only a triple threat for about a minute (IF that); they kept tossing each other out of the ring like crazy. Second, they only got 10 minutes for the whole thing (they could've easily got 15); and third, I was expecting a potential show stealer and it just wasn't that good; all 3 men can do better. Rating: 4/10 Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero was a great match and a lot better than their WM match. I was really expecting Guerrero to pass out rather than tap to the Ankle Lock. This feud is just really heating up and if these 2 can put more matches on of that caliber, that's just fine by me. Rating: 8.5/10 Eugene vs. HHH was pretty entertaining and a decent wrestling match. I like how Eugene emulates the moves of other superstars. Rating: 5.5/10 Diva Dodgeball was GOD AWFUL. Now I love the Divas and most of them are pretty talented in the ring but that whole segment was just horrible and made the Divas look horrible losing to the Diva hopefuls. No Rating Undertaker vs. JBL wasn't horrible but not very good. They went with the only logical finish to the match they could have done. Undertaker really isn't full time anymore, so it makes no sense to give him the title and who would JBL feud with if he beat Taker cleanly last night? The limo spot was pretty cool though. Rating: 4/10 Randy Orton vs. Chris Benoit was a brilliant match and saved the show (along with Guerrero-Angle) from being a disaster. Benoit sold well for Orton and Orton looks ready to be called a Main Eventer. Rating: 8.5/10 Overall, I'd give the PPV a 5.5/10. It was decent just not memorable like previous Summerslams (i.e. 2000, 2002)
