King of Colosseum 2 9/9/04

Recommended Posts

Any game that lets me slap an Anaconda Vice on someone is good by me. My only wish is that it had Dragon's Gate, Osaka Pro, and Michinoku Pro on it as well. I understand those are considered indies there though. I'll definitely be getting this game regardless.

That's why VPW 2 just might have been the greatest video game ever.

It's for PS2 and the release date is sept. 9th of this year. you can pre-order it on play-asia.com or wair for few weeks after the release and buy it on ebay which will have it about $10-20 cheaper.

You can buy an asian PS2 (NTSC) for about $220 or get your PS2 chipped at a local video game store that fixes and does various things with consoles.

In NYC (chinatown) I was able to get my PS2 chipped for 100$. That was a year ago but depending where you live prices will vary.

I do have VPW2........it's an incredible game, but I don't want to dust off the N64 for it, heh. The new moves are nice as well, another reason I've had a want for a new wrestling game (don't mention the SmackDown! series.......I hate the arcade-y feel to it.)

If you don't already have a PS2, I found that this site would be a good place to pick up a new one to play imports and such: http://www.xmodd.com/

You won't have to worry about the arcade-y feel because this game uses a clutch system where you get a big variety of moves (R1 and O, X, [], ^). Let's say you lock someone up into a suplex position from there you could either snap suplex, fisherman buster or brainbuster them (depending on the move set of a wrestler), so you get the idea.

This game strongly relies on timing of your button tapping and it took me a full week to get comfortable with KOC Red and Green (1st KOC) let alone to play it on hard difficulty.

I heard spike made it harder for CPU and Players to make each other tap out which is a great addition since it helps to have those 60 min matches.

At some point I'll get around to making my PS2 equipped to play imports. Being it mod chip or flip top. This game definitely look intriguing. I hope that you can still translate all the names to english. I loved that feature about VPW 2, except for the space issues. Leaving you to use M. Misawa, T. Kawada, etc

I know Spike took over for Human in the Fire Pro series. When you say timing of button presses, is it similar to that, with the extra step added in (grapple to move, instead of straight to the move)?

It's not like Fire Pro in many senses, whenever you lock up (which you do by pressing R1 and O or X or both together :) ) you see the wrestlers shift their body as if they are preparing to hit a move or receive one. That's when you have to perfect your timing since they easily reverse/block your moves, especially Jun Akiyama :)

I've never seen this in any other games and it becomes very normal once you master it. if you watch the trailers closely you'll notice how bodies shift let's say when locking up into a suplex or a punch/kick position, it's just a matter of seconds.

This game is very least about tapping the button as fast as you can. It's a puro game and you have to think like a puro wrestler at all times.

Fliptops are around 50 dollars or so and very easy to put on your PS2. I believe the website is here www.ps2fliptop.com or just google it.

To continue the PS2 modding talk, has anyone tried the Slide Card system (with the Swap Magic disc)? If I'm understanding everything I've read correctly, it seems like a way to play KOC II without taking the case off the your PS2 or voiding the warranty. And it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a fliptop, too.

Is there something I'm missing, because this really seems to be the way to go. Any suggestions, experiences or warnings about this?

Suggestions: Buy a flip top

Warnings: The slide card can very easily damage the motor on our PS2. Its the least recommended method.

Damaging the motor? Not good. Thanks for the warning. I appreciate it.

So, has anyone bought anything from ps2fliptop.com before? They seem to have decent prices, but are they reliable? I'm starting to seriously get the KOC II itch.

I actually have a flip-top on the PS2 in my possession, however I've never had the opportunity to use it. It was purchased for the sole reason of playing King of Colosseum 1, but...never got around to getting it.

So, could someone, just...sum up how it works. I assume you just start the PS2 normally and drop the CD in from the top when you're at the PS2 menu page?

I'd reccomend the fliptop, if you don't want it chipped.

It comes with a boot disc (well, two..one for DVD and one for CD games). All you do is boot that normally. When the screen comes up prompting you to switch, open the flip top, change discs, and press X.

I just want to say that for the past couple of weeks, I've been doing nothing buy playing KoC2. This game is absolutely fantastic. Better than even No Mercy in my eyes. I love the grappling system. The entrances are great. The roster is big. The "powerball" system is genius.

I can't speak enough praise about this game. When I'm not playing it, I'm thinking about it. The "match quality" at the end of each match that gives you a % of how good your match was always gives you something to shoot for. I just love everything about this game.

Once I got past the language barrier, which was simple due to FAQ's, and got to the point of understanding the system (which does have a pretty high learning curve, even if you're familiar with Fire Pro) I couldn't put the controller down.

I've been working my way through the different difficulty "roads" to unlock all the dudes and shit. I'm having trouble on hard. I can't imagine how tough it's going to get when I unlock the super hard modes and shit.

Good times.

I finally got ahold of this about 2 months ago. It's been the only game I've been playing. WWE need to look at this game and realize what is possible with wrestling games instead of the crap they put out last year.

I also realized I watch too much ROH. My 2 year old yelled "stop that's Joe, I'm Joe, I do ole ole."

This post should really be in the video game section. We might get some interest and replies there. Can a mod move this?

Yeah, they're good.

Remember that you need to buy flip tops and Magic Swap discs to actually play the games, though. Buy the highest version Swap Discs you can.

Yeah, just a general comment. Also, as I mentioned before, one of the benefits to the PS2 slim is that it's easier to insert that tray than it is to remove the casing to an older PS2 model.
