Ok, I realize I am new to this site, but I didn't realize there were so many rules to follow. I don't agree with a lot of them, but fair enough. I apologize for my outburst in that thread I set earlier. However, had the posters who replied been a little more polite in the way they replied to me, I would have remained calm. All I ask for is a little bit more respect in the future, and I will do the same back. Thank you and have a nice day.

Eugene', I'm really not slamming you, just pointing something out. It seems that - for whatever reason - the newer posters on TSM are the ones that have had problems. I've been here for longer than I care to think about, and have yet to be warned, or suspended, or ban-nihilated. There are a ton of posters that have been here longer than me, or have been more active than me, or both, that also have managed to not earn a reprimand.

 

I read the thread that got you suspended, and really don't disagree with you that people jumped down your throat. But you didn't respond as you could have, and really should have. I'm not going to get all biblical and say "turn the other cheek" or any of that shit. But don't post responses like ...

Are you kidding? I'll give you a hint: I'm not here 24/7. The Full House guy was banned as soon as someone saw what he was up to, same with Eugene`. It just happened that I was reading the thread as he'd posted that, so it made sense just to do it at the time.

 

It has nothing to do with any comments they make regarding me, and I resent any implication of that.

 

Quick point:

 

The other day, Mad Dog made a thread entitled (something like) "Do you agree with me?" I asked that he be more specific with thread titles in future, and he PMed me to apologise and say he'd do so in future. It was courteous and appreciated.

 

Eugene` is asked not to make threads on minor topics, and he reacts with:

Fine, if you don't want to read the rules, you don't participate.

Well, let me explain this. I truly believe "IN MY OPINION" that Eddie flipping out is a major topic. It may not be to a lot of people, but that's the judgement I used. Eddie has done this behavior in the past, and it was my "OPINION" (isnt that what a message board is about, posting your opinion?) that is was a major issue because I feel he is suffering through burnout. For future purposes, what would classify as a "MAJOR" story and what would classify as a "NOTSO" major story. I'm very curious.

If Eddie had say...busted some fan's nose or took his lunch money, then that would be thread worthy because it shows a pattern of behaviour and everyone can chime in and give their solution and it can be a big happy circle jerk of "So sad for Eddie" " Fuck Eddie he should control his temper".

You weren't reprimanded for your thread ... you were reprimanded for saying that you weren't interested in reading the rules. Big difference.

I agree with the people above. I lurked for months unregistered. (this was before guest viewing was turned off)

 

 

Besides making me a better poster when Ifinally decided to register, it also showed me what folders/posters were stupid/evil and that I shouldn't waste my time with them. That information has greatly increased my enjoyment of this place, because the posion that resides in it doesn't exist to me, I don't recognize it.

 

So yes, I support getting a feel for the place before you just start firing off posts.

Follow the lead of the people that have been here longer than you. Don't challenge a mod. If someone offers constructive criticism (even if it seems like they're being assholes) grin and bear it, and learn from it.

-Now, I fully admitted that I overreacted at first about this......it pissed me off. It's been longer than that since I've taken French. I'm pretty sure "n'est pas?" translates exactly to "is it not?" (or "it is not?" with the implied intonation) My French is quite rusty, though, so you could be right and "n'est pas" could just be a colloquial form. I heard it a lot when I was in France.

No, you see, it has to be "n'est-ce-pas" because "ce" is the "it" of the phrase, "n'est pas" is just "is not." Also, when pronounced, the former gives you "ness-pah" and the latter is "nay-pah."
