Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 Randy Orton won the Intercontental Championship last December and held the belt for seven months, elevating the belt to a higher status than it has been in years. To my disatisfaction, he lost the title to a returning Edge. Lately, Edge has been walking the fine line between "This guy is boring" and "Get the fuck off my TV", and the crowd has been responding by giving Edge the dreaded X-Pac heat, even in his home town of Toronto. Edge's last IC Title (Early 2002, I believe) run he basically killed the title as well, and his feud with William Regal (a.k.a. the worst feud of all time) was horribly boring to watch and went on for far too long. So my question is, Should the the Intercontental Title should be taken off of Edge? Will a heel turn maybe make this as of now shit storm of a title reign mean a little more? If he turns heel, should he join Evolution? Or reunite with Christian?
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 When he turns heel, I say have him either align with Christian, or align with nobody. I would really dislike him in Evolution, personally.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 The simple solution would be for Edge to stop doing the goofy entrance dance and quit overusing the Spear in matches and of course get a new finisher. The IC title has not meant anything since it was hotshoted from RVD to Jericho to Kane to HHH then disappeared.
Guest Fook Report post Posted August 18, 2004 When he turns heel and loses the IC title, I'd like to see him challenge Orton for the World title by playing the "I already beat you for a belt before, so I can do it again" card.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 He needs to become a cocky heel. Dissing the fans hometowns, dissing peoples favorite wrestlers. He needs to become the heel he was, when he was apart of Edge & Christian. He will get over by doing that.

It works for Goldberg, it works for Rhyno...but not for Edge. He's definitely on the way to turning heel...whether he'll be with Evolution/Christian/both remains to be seen. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Edge = Brendan Frasier. He can never be taken seriously as a 100 percent badass, he always has that goofy aura. Best bet for Edge was to straddle the line between his old character and a more serious tone. Instead they had him come back as generic angry face. At least from what I saw when he returned, i havent been watching this feud with jericho and batista or with orton.
Guest Ray Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Edge is floundering because the fans haven't been given any reason to care about him or his goals. "Uh...I don't like Evolution" is all we get. Then they lay the seeds for a turn on Benoit and kill it before it can go anywhere. Then they do a quasi-heel turn on Jericho, then back off it, leaving the fans confused. I don't watch any more, but I guess Edge is now on RAW, the same show as Triple-H? If that's the case he'll never get to be a strong heel unless he's a flunky of Trips. He can either be a comedy heel like Jericho was or a servant of Triple-H, he's obviously not going to be a monster heel. Too bad, I always thought Edge would make a fine arrogant, total-bastard kind of heel, but I doubt they'll risk him outshining Vince's chosen son on the "flagship show" of sportz entertainment. Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Edge's 2000-01 heel run would NOT work for a main eventer. Goofy idiot who takes cheap shots at local sports teams/heroes does not smell like World Champion material.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted August 19, 2004 If I understand correctly, Bradshaw is doing a racist cracker gimmick and is holding a world title. Or, I guess, THE world title (the Smackdown belt is still the one with the real lineage, not the special nailing-the-boss's-daughter commemorative one, right?), so I don't think you should rule out anything short of pretend mental retards holding the belt. Or has that already happened?

Like the whole "Fucking idiot, Hogan wasn't nwo in 95" comment you made yesterday? No main eventer does cheap heat tricks enough to be given the nickname "Cheap Heat Guy". All heels do it occasionally, but E&C did it EVERY WEEK. Last I checked Edge & Christian aren't Main Eventers.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Watch Kurt Angle's 1st reign as the WWF Champion. It was mostly based on him bashing hometowns, and sports teams.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 19, 2004 There's a reason people say that title reign flopped. Probably booking. He stopped doing it after that, and it was over three years ago.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 There's a reason people say that title reign flopped. Probably booking. He stopped doing it after that, and it was over three years ago. It didn't flop because of his gimmick. It flopped because of the booking. He wasn't even the main focus, like a Champion should be. The WWF was more concern with the HHH/Austin fued, to deal with Angle. They made him out to be a lame duck champion, who RARELY even got a clean win.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Oh yes, the Honky Tonk Man booking. God I hated that World Title reign.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 And also, Edge isn't getting the world title anytime soon. So why does it matter? If booked right, the gimmick will work. But if they do the "Honky Tonk Man" booking, then it will fail. So hopefully the WWE learnt off Angle's 1st reign.

Detox 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 An Edge and Christian reunion is not a bad idea, but in order for Edge to become a credible heel he must change his look up a bit and try and get a new finisher.

slimm44 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Put him back with Christian, but since he is aligned with Trish and Tomko, I don't see it happening. I don't see him being Cocky Heel as a singles competitor. Just take him off TV...Please!
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 19, 2004 I think any smark who says Edge has X-pac heat is incredably retarded. That is all. Edge Heat: You suck! X-Pac Heat: Get the fuck lost and die already! A MAJOR difference I think.
Guest JMA Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Hm. Maybe when X-Pac comes back he can deliver a quasi-shoot promo on Edge... But seriously, I don't want to see any past Edge characters revisted (with the exception of the "mysterious loner"). I think it might be best to have Edge be a "bitter" heel; the idea is that the guy would be incredibly bitter and rag on everything. For example, instead of mocking the hometown sports team, he could do a rant on how the females who still cheer him are shallow and only like him because of the way he looks. He could rag on how Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler are dinosaurs who don't know a thing about modern wrestling. He could even mock Randy Orton by saying the only reason he was given so many oppurtunities in WWE was because of who his father and grandfather were. Basically, Edge would make ANYONE who was around him feel really bad and/or uncomfortable. It might even be a good idea to change his music, ring attire, and maybe even his name. Oh, and the spear CANNOT be his finisher.

humongous2002 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Edge has always been the most overrated wrestler for the last 3 years or so, he was the odd man out of the SD 5 back in 2002 and he is not main event material b/c he lacks connection with the fans just like JBL. But since he is a WWE homegrown guy he will get a world title by 2005.
