AndrewTS Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Okay, so sometime soon we can do a tournament of ninja characters, but for now, just the games folks (no, last topic wasn't the poll, despite what some people thought. ) Eh, give it a week on this one... At the same time, you can throw in nominations for a ninja video game character tournament. You can nominate as many as you want, but only up to five per game per poster. I'll be a bit liberal on the definition of "ninja." However, these should be primarily video game characters--I'll make an exception if they were a prominent character in a video game, though. However, just to clarify, I decide you goes and stays, basically. I'm not putting all 30 or so ninjas from MK, nor will I put a sorta-ninja who was hiding in a closet in some licensed game and did nothing else. What is the name of the ninja in I-Ninja, BTW?
Guest Staravenger Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Shit, I meant to vote for the TMNT series...if the Gameboy series doesn't count. Uh....thats never happend to me before.
Highland Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 The ninja in tenchu act like real ninjas. Ninja stealth kill!
Anya Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 I voted for Tenchu. 5 per game? That's game, not series.... Ok here's my nominees.. Scorpion(MK) Sub-Zero(MK) Reptile(MK) Smoke(MK II) Noob(MK II) Kitana(MK II) Mileena(MK II) Jade(MK II) Cyrax(MK3) Sektor(MK3) Ermac(UMK3) Rain(UMK3) Khameleon(MKT) Chameleon(MKT) Kidding.... Actually I nominate just Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Plus.....Hanzo & Galford(Samurai Shodown) and Ibuki(SF III)
AndrewTS Posted August 22, 2004 Author Report Posted August 22, 2004 Nightshade... Hey, for completion's sake. I haven't played it though, so maybe it actually could be considered part of the Shinobi series. I bumped Eidos' "Ninja" since I've never played it, never heard of anyone who played it, nobody remembers it, nobody sings its praises, and it's from the European version of Acclaim, so it probably sucks anyway. Shit, I meant to vote for the TMNT series...if the Gameboy series doesn't count. Uh....thats never happend to me before. It's okay--although it may not matter much in the final result anyway. Excellent nominations, Anya.
AndrewTS Posted August 23, 2004 Author Report Posted August 23, 2004 *wonders just how many people who voted for the Ninja Gaiden series actually ever played any of the earlier games.* Then again, I'm not good enough at the game to unlock the old ones hidden in there, so maybe that's presumptuous of me to ask.
Black Lushus Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Prepare for frustration when you get around to playing the original Ninja Gaiden games...as much as I loved the series, frsutration abounds aplenty, especially in the last levels of each game... Still doesn't top Battletoads in all-time NES frustration thought, that's for damn sure...
tekcop Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Prepare for frustration when you get around to playing the original Ninja Gaiden games...as much as I loved the series, frsutration abounds aplenty, especially in the last levels of each game... Still doesn't top Battletoads in all-time NES frustration thought, that's for damn sure... I've found a lot of games that were suppossed to be extremely hard and frustrating to be fairly easy after a couple of minutes of dieing. I can get through the first few level of Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Ghost's 'n Goblins (actually, I can beat the first level no problem, still haven't gotten past the stupid white monsters in the second level), Battletoads, and the like. You just have to memorize the patterns in which the enemies move mostly. Oh, and I voted for Ninja Gaiden.
Special K Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 There are parts of the original Ninja Gaiden late in the game where the respawning of enemies seriously fucks you up. Getting through the first few levels of games like Castlevania is easy. It's once you hit the last two or three. I believe the fourth level of Castlevania is where the game starts to get serious about killing you every 2 steps. If you're a kid, and you buy a game and can't get past the 2nd level, you just might feel a little peeved. You've essentially bought a demo for $50.
Black Lushus Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Yeah, i think it's the 4th level of Castlevania where you have to go through that long screen with the eagles dropping off the little jumping dudes. That level sucks...then the level on the way to Death sucks even more...by the time you get to him, you have about half your health and there are no pork chops anywhere near him... The respawning enemies thing was the hardest part of the Ninja Gaiden games, that's what im saying about frustration...it always happens on those areas where you have to jump from tiny ledge to tiny ledge with pure nothingness but death underneath you...strategically, these levels are placed right before the final battle where you have to fight 3 bosses in a row without health replenishments...thanks Tecmo!
Sass Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I voted for Ninja Warriors, but I know that Ninja Gaiden is the superior template for Ninja whooopin.
Guest ally mccoist Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I voted for the Turtles. Honestly, other than Shinobi, I don't think i've played any of the others.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Back in the day I could beat Shinobi with one quarter at the arcade -- that's why I picked that series...
Guest theanswer1824 Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 i vote for snake-eyes in the gi-joe nintendo game and also the gi-joe arcade game. yeah, i'm a snake-eyes fan. baddest ninja alive. period. and he gets to sleep with scarlett, not duke kiddies, without saying a word.
