Many Feel Triple H Pushed For Rushed Orton Turn

Recommended Posts

Many backstage believe that Triple H pushed for Randy Orton's quick face turn following his World Title win at Summerslam as a way of trying to ensure his run will be a failure. The thinking is that Triple H figures Orton will not be able to handle being a face and WWE will then have no choice but to put the World Title back on The Game.

HHH is the one who has been helping Orton for the last year and a half, so this news is bullshit to me.

Umm - unless they credited a source, this is just fake news that 411 "reporters" drummed up to make them look credible.

This is what still keeps the wrestlers from embracing the internet as a great place to see and respond to fans' opinions. 411 has been fucking it up for all of us, marks and smarks alike.

I doubt that's the reason. I think if Triple H pushed for it it was so the focus could remain on Triple H.

Pfft, really- they could make a HHHate Story about it either way...it's either too rushed and "Ortons not ready" or it's drawn out and "Orton's momentum is gone." I'm not buying.

And to dissect this even further...

Why would Triple H want to sabotage Orton's reign? No matter successful Orton's run is, the top heel will get the belt back eventually. It's the basis of what sells tickets...to see the heel get his ass kicked. If Orton's run gets taken out from under him, how would Triple H look good at all? Unless I missed something, beating a wrestler who just played second-fiddle to him for two years won't be a big deal to fans until Orton is built up as a strong world champion.

I doubt that's the reason. I think if Triple H pushed for it it was so the focus could remain on Triple H.

But I don't think Orton will start off with Batista or Flair. Judging by how they played out the turn, Orton is going straight after Trips NOW. The focus will be on Hunter, regardless.

When Vince he retires, Triple H will own most of the company. I'm sure he is just as concerned about building new stars as the rest of them are.

This is dumb. Why wouldn't Triple H just put the title back around his waist by going over Benoit instead. The man who took the title away from him? 411 has really fallen from '98 with the increase of hack writers.

At least they could've stuck SOMEONES name on that, like Hardcore Holly or Billy Gunn.

I think its true ina sense that it was done to keep HHH in that world title main event circle.

but also it was done to explain the story here. Evolution's formation was that HHH was the present, Flair was the past and Orton/Batistia was the future. Ain't no one but HHH was suppose to be world champion that this timeframe. No other member would be allowed to go for the gold here other than Triple himself. and judging his track record, he probably wants a career like flair, so another ten or fifteen years of him in the main event spotlight until he settles down as the head of all WWE wrestling as its promoter giving Orton and Batistia their shot.

I don't buy this either, it makes no sense as pointed out by Staravenger.

Can anyone find the original article they took this report from? I'm having a diffcult time finding anything in the last week that reported this.

My efforts might be for naught, though, if this is hidden in the VIP Torch section. If so, I'd pity anyone who's coughing up the cash per month to get quality "news" like this.

I'm not saying that I give any weight to this rumour, but I don't buy that HHH has been "helping Orton." HHH hasn't done much besides allow Orton to hang out with him.

These next few weeks will see how serious HHH is about helping Orton.

Actually, He won't own most of the company. I would believe that Linda and Shane control more of the company combined than Stephanie and if Vince died his stock would be either divided between his family(including HHH) but it still wouldnt be enough for Steph and HHH to run the show. I mean they will probably be in control from a storyline/booking point, but as far as business, Shane and Linda will be in control of all of that

It's been corrected, but just wanted to point out that a few of the guys left 411 and started their own site recently.

Vince has went out of his way to put over Hunter's knowledge for the business, so it would shock me if Hunter is put in the top position when Vince steps down/dies. At the very least HHH will always be in charge of creative (through Steph), and thats really the most important spot in the company.

As for this rumour, I think its partially true. HHH wanted to stay heel, which has been reported by Meltz. So in that respect HHH probably pushed to have Orton go face instead of himself. In terms of rushing it, I dont think that was a Hunter scheme, I think it was just a case where the WWE sees numbers are heading south and with the NFL coming back soon they needed something to get attention. I guess we'll see next week if it worked at all.

Hunter will likely still be married to Orton until Mania, where I assume Orton will take back the title after dropping to Hunter in Spet. So withy that in mind, I cant see Hunter sabotaging Orton so early when he needs him to be strong to sell the Mania program.

I guess if the Billy and Chuck thing worked, HHH had to go that route eventually.

Wait...

Never mind.

13 replies and no one bothered to simply go to 411.

Except for the guy 4 posts and 4 hours before you... ;)

I have to agree with the thought that if less people "made up news" then there would be less friction with the "IWC."

Does anyone know if there is a WWE backed hotline/rumor thing anymore? Seems if folks are going to PAY for 3rd+ hand info the WWE might as well get in on the action.
