Guest TigerDriver91 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I'm so sick of Rock that I'd pay money to see someone no-sell the Rock Bottom. I honestly don't care if the Rock ever makes another appearance in WWE again. He can fuck off to Hollywood and stay there for all I care.
slimm44 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I agree this was one of the worst RAW's. Two matches, two awful segments and hardly any interaction between Orton and HHH. The wedding was alright. I enjoyed the midgets. Had to be the worst RAW since the one before Wrestlemania 19.
Adam 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 The fact is he is much more entertaining as a heel, in a program with someone other than comedy or eye candy roles. Until WWE realise this, Rock isn't going to be very well liked by you guys.
Guest CronoT Report post Posted August 24, 2004 36 pages; wow, that's the longest RAW thread I've seen in quite some time. Overall, I thought this RAW was above average, mostly. The obligatoryRock appearance at a CA/FL show was pretty much wasted, since it involved the Diva Search contest. Also, who the fuck in their right mind continues to vote for Carmella? The other Diva Hopefuls hate her, and the live crowds hate her. This just continues to scream RIGGED to me. Edge continues his slow fall to the dark side, and Jericho gets punked again. Regal and Flair was a nice bit of nostalgia, for anyone who remembered their Marquis of Queensberry Tournament back in WCW. But, the double brass knucks was kind of tired and played out. I think Orton is really starting to get over, especially considering the crowd chanted his name heavily after he belt-shot Trips, and then ran through the crowd. Triple H's promo was cookie-cutter stale, but his acting afterward was at least decent. The Kane/Lita Wedding is a sure-fire nomination for WrestleCrap Moment of the Year. Also, hasn't the chokeslam/powerbomb off the stage into a disguised cushion or stunt bag been done enough already? Expect Bischoff to fire Matt next week. Maybe Shawn Michaels will make his come back next week as well. Also, has anyone else starting thinking by now that the Kane/Lita/Matt angle might turn out to be a swerve, like Triple H/Steph/Vince from a few years ago? LJSexay 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 You know... I really enjoyed seeing Rock again tonight. I loved it! Keep in mind.. this is my first RAW all summer. It was alright, but I'll be damned if I'm not sick of old and predictable storylines.
strummer 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Um, minor point, why was Trish in her underwear? Not that I'm complaining or anything as she looked UBER hot. That is supposed to get her over a heel? I think the entire male audience had a collective orgasm, that was the best I have ever seen her look. But again, what about that angle called for her to be in her underwear? LOL It was so random and was blatant T and A for the sake of T and A.

Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 24, 2004 For anyone wondering, Chris Benoit wrestled Tyson Tomko on HEAT. *smashes something* Well EVERYONE pulled Heat duty almost I can assume. Edge, Jericho, Regal, and Flair were the only people who wrestled. But TOMKO? I hope Benoit can carry him to something watchable, and that Tyson doesn't kill him. Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Oh well, the two lightest black guys battle, and Benoit makes an appearence. I guess I can set my VCR for it this week. I just hope the Mack doesn't job to Maven.

UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Why was Orton still using Evolution's theme? You'd think they'd at least take out the Evolution lyrics since you know.. he's not in Evolution anymore.
Guest TigerDriver91 Report post Posted August 24, 2004 Some notes from PWTorch website... RAW NOTES After the William Regal vs. Ric Flair match, the WWE crew broke down the ring signaling the end of the wrestling. Many, many fans headed for the exit during the set up. After Raw went off the air, Matt Hardy was taken away on the stretcher, presumably signaling his disappearance for six-to-eight months. LIVE SHOW THOUGHTS I heard a lot of grumbling from fans wanting more wrestling. I don't see how a two hour show can only feature two matches. The Sunday Night Heat taping took place in front of about half of the arena. The doors to the arena opened about 30 minutes later than announced, leaving many people outside during Heat. The arena was completely shocked when Benoit came out for a Heat match with Tomko. Many second level seats on the non-TV side were empty. The upper level was completely full. Method Man was in attendance and got the crowd excited during commercial breaks. http://www.pwtorch.com
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted August 24, 2004 For anyone wondering, Chris Benoit wrestled Tyson Tomko on HEAT. *smashes something* HHH wrestled (Maven I think) on the July 13, 2003 Heat. So on one hand we're complaining about the lack of wrestling and then when there is it's time to smash things? Good show at times, with the Dibiase/Hogan touch thrown in to Orton/HHH. Bad at others, but in a good Batman/Manos/Plan 9 sort of bad (well other than the 'my BUTT is hungry' bit).

Guest Dazed Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I think that was just about the worst Raw in a long time. The Diva Search shit went on for 30 minutes, which is far too long for the Rock to be out there attempting to pull things together. The reaction to the Rock "yay!" immediately contrasted with everything the divas did "boo!". What was the deal with one of them challenging the other to a fight? Can't be more specific, still haven't learned their names. Yeah, the Rock got some great lines out, but the fans still hate the divas, and it ain't changing any time soon. Jericho / Edge was about as good as you get from Edge these days, which is to say, not very. The false finish in the middle was really random, especially with Edge retaining anyway. The less said about the DQ for crotching on the ropes, the better. Remember these are the same refs that never care about people using the ring steps or post. The Orton and HHH confrontation was perfectly booked. Long enough for both to get their point across, and zero drag whatsoever. I can't remember anyone getting the upper hand like that on HHH EVER. It's weird that HHH would offer Orton the option of handing over the belt the week after the beatdown, but what can you do? Notice how HHH still calls it, "my belt". While it's natural for the character to think that, it's probably something they want to get away from. I thought Evolution coming out to HHH's music, and Orton coming out to Evolution's music might be foreshadowing something, but who knows. Ric Flair is fucking worthless in the ring these days, his chops are getting to be an irritation ("whooo" is going to be the new "what?") and he doesn't have the energy to do anything else. Regal finally got a match, though - and a win! Nice to see Benoit get his token appearance on the show, especially since he's fighting Tyson Tomko on HeAT, which is retarded after two high profile jobs in 24 hours last week. Every time something happened during the wedding, I thought "holy shit, this is bad, at least it can't get worse." But I was proven wrong over and over and over. There was fucking nothing to redeem this ridiculously long segment, except for the unintentional humour. Still, I have no idea what they wanted to achieve. Hardy still looks below Kane's level (and he's due out for 6-9 months, if you believe his WWE.com column), Lita still annoyth me a treat, Trish is still oh, so fucking hot, and Kane is weird but ultimately not a threat. And no, I don't believe it was intentionally played for laughs, as 1) JR & King weren't laughing, and 2) None of the angle has been comedy so far. "This... is like a soap opera, only it's real!" - Jerry Lawler talking about the Lita / Kane / Hardy angle, SummerSlam 2004.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 24, 2004 So on one hand we're complaining about the lack of wrestling and then when there is it's time to smash things? When there? It's not there. That's kind of the point. The former world champion has been completely phased out and shoved on to Heat so they can spend half an hour on Diva Search crap. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 24, 2004 coughcoughbeatdownBatistacoughcough Pretending that being background noise in a match between managers is enough, you are still wrong. "beat down Batista" implies that Batista was in some way laid out after the match. It also implies that Benoit was the last one to get a shot in on TV. Both are wrong. Batista is clearly unharmed at the end of the match, leaning against the ring watching the pinfall. Further, the last offensive move we can see (all the way in the bottom right hand corner, showing you the importance) belongs to batista, kneeing Benoit in the ribs and banging his head against the barrier.
