starvenger Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 Never mind. Jeffrey Ross. Best insult from Triumph so far was the Dat Phan slam...
starvenger Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 Tess had a good set. "Jay is a girl" doesn't get old for some reason...
CanadianChris Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Mordal and Heffron advance (like that surprised anyone). This week's could be a bit more interesting, although I still like Vos and Bodden to advance.
starvenger Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 Well, the correct people - Dave Mordal and John Heffron - made it through. I predict Geoff and Todd get eliminated, although Alonzo had the weakest set of S2 I thought...
the max Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Gulman had the best Dat Phan slams.
Youth N Asia Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 I loved Gulman's slams on Ralphie then finally shrugged it off with "he's overweight." That got me more than anything else. Good slams on Ralphie and Dat...they needed it. Heff and any other from season 2 is a strong team, although Glass just bombed it like a pro. They do that stupid crap where they have someone who's not elimiminated stay off that week and not be able to perform. Had he done stand up last week he might have gone all the way. It was a very weak roast overall, Geoff especially. Except for Gulman no one really made me laugh. And once again no shocks with who made it to the end...although I'm suprised that Jay's bad set got more than Kathleen's.

They do that stupid crap where they have someone who's not elimiminated stay off that week and not be able to perform. Had he done stand up last week he might have gone all the way. Todd's set was just about exactly how you'd expect it to go. But it was one of those sets where it was so bad, it was great, and it could put him over the top. Gary's set was actually more mean than good-natured slamming, but he getting zingers in on everyone was great. Need to revise my picks to advance, since only the top performer moves on. Should advance (based on last night): Vos and Gulman Will advance: Vos and Bodden Either way, the Final Four will, to use an old phrase, reek of awesomeness...
Youth N Asia Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Finally, season 1 gets good finals representation
Ted the Poster Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 It was too bad that the audience sucked though. Vos and Gulman were great, but all the crowd did was make "awww" noises. IT'S A ROAST, IDIOTS! MEAN=FUNNY!
Lando Griffin Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 That reminded me of Jimmy Pardo's Comedy Central special. "Yuk it up, ya bastards!"
Youth N Asia Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 The audiance probably sucked cause Tess, Glass, and Brown were all crowd killers. And Alonzo and Vos were only decient. And I loved how Ralphie played off everything said about him as unfunny...when most of it was pretty good.
starvenger Posted September 30, 2004 Author Report Posted September 30, 2004 And I loved how Ralphie played off everything said about him as unfunny...when most of it was pretty good. I think that the fat racist black wannabe was about to cry, actually...
Ted the Poster Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 He did laugh at Vos' "staple his kitchen" joke though, which shows he can recognize good comedy. Maybe if Ralphie eased up on the black thing he'd be funny.

Youth N Asia Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Meh...I think that was more for season 1 support then anything else, cause Gulman was killing him.
Mecha Mummy Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 Ralphie May says NBC's jokefest "Last Comic Standing" is a joke itself. The plus-sized comedian, who finished second during the first season and was voted off season three's competition Tuesday, says the talent contest hosted and produced by comedian Jay Mohr is past its prime. "The whole show is a joke," he told The Associated Press recently. "The viewership's gone down the hill, and the show has jumped the shark." Whine whine whine whine WHINE.
the max Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 The whole show IS a joke. It's a comedy show. It's the gaffs like Ralphie getting television time that is making the show worse.

His comedy would be funny if he was black. Too bad that Alonzo and Tess have better writing skills and material then him.
Youth N Asia Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 I think I wrote off the show as a joke when Ralphie and Dat made the finals. Luckly the season 2 cast was waaaayyyy better and made the show so much better.
starvenger Posted October 6, 2004 Author Report Posted October 6, 2004 Rich, Dave, John and Alonzo. Killer Final 4...
Ted the Poster Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 I wish relationship jokes were fobidden from the competition. It's the most overdone thing in comedy.
razazteca Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 Poor Hefron looked like a nervous wreck out there on stage.
starvenger Posted October 6, 2004 Author Report Posted October 6, 2004 I wish relationship jokes were fobidden from the competition. It's the most overdone thing in comedy. Overdone, but funny when it's true. And it's still better than Ralphie and Dat's stuff...
the max Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 Both guys seemed very nervous, but the audience is just sitting on their hands waiting for something to happen.
starvenger Posted October 6, 2004 Author Report Posted October 6, 2004 Vos was surprisingly subdued...
starvenger Posted October 6, 2004 Author Report Posted October 6, 2004 Strong sets from Mordal and Alonzo. And note to Ralphie May - THAT'S how you talk about cultures without sounding racist...
Ted the Poster Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 Mordal definitely had the best set tonight. Vos was okay, but like starvenger said, he seemed very subdued and it appeared he was holding back a bit. "Look, there's your bus!"
CanadianChris Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 I thought Alonzo had the best set, and blew all of them except Mordal away. Nice to see some topical stuff in there. Heffron looked like a deer in the headlights...poor guy.
