Best Line Ups Ever for Networks

Recommended Posts

What were some of the best lineups for different networks over the years? My all time favorite lineup was Thursdays on NBC in the 80s.

8 -Cosby Show

8:30- Family Ties

9-Cheers

9:30 NightCourt (this may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it had this slot)

10:00 Hill Street Blues/ then later on LA LAW

Loved the Weds. line up on HBO in the early 90s with Dream On, Larry Sanders, and Tales from the Crypt.

Never really cared for TGIF

I'm pretty sure that ABC used to have Who's the Boss, Head of the Class, and Growing Pains on Tuesday, which was also pretty damn awesome (now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure HOTC was on Weds.)

Any others, especially classic lineups from 60s,70s

Fox's 2000-200(2?) late night lineup

10:00- Seinfeld

10:30- Frasier

11:00- Simpsons

11:30- Spin City

12:00- Married with Children

12:30- Unhappily Ever After(!)

1:00- Caroline in the City (oh, come on. You liked it.)

1:30- Suddenly Susan ( :( )

Combine this with the fact they would repeat the same awesome Mighty Taco commercial in between shows, and you've got an awesome lineup.

Then they screwed it up by tossing in Mad TV at 12:00 AM in Sept. ('02?), so that ruined it. But it was great before then.

Runners up-

Last year's GSN Late Night is very close.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was Whammy, Lingo, Russian Roulette, Truth or Dare and Cram. In some order. Then you had Greed on Sundays, and Weakest Link during the day. And best of all-- you could play these games. On line. Along with the TV. I loved that shit.

Also, when I had all those television feeds from other provinces, I had a nice lineup of Simpsons, That 70's Show, Will and Grace and Seinfeld any time I wanted. Since almost so many different networks have Simpsons in syndication, I was able to watch about 5-8 Simpsons episodes (if I was feelin' it). Awesome.

Our local FOX affiliate has a pretty good thing going now starting at 5:

5P: Will and Grace (I don't watch it)

6P: Friends

7P: Everybody Loves Raymond

730P: Seinfeld

That's still two good hours of television for me, starting with Friends.

Other than that, I can't really think of anything besides FX's Labor Day marathons when they play an entire season of 24.

Last summer, TBS had starting at 10 and going until 4:30; Dawson's Creek (x2), Saved By The Bell (x2), Family Matters, Cosby Show, Fresh Prince (x2) (than was switched to Futurama and Family Guy), and Roseanne (x3). Then that Non-Stop Comedy block thing they had with Drew Carey, Seinfeld, Friends, and whatever else went until whenever. I'd usually switch it over to Comedy Network at 4:30 and watch Beat the Geeks and the Daily Show re-run.

If I wasn't careful, I'd waste hours in front of the TV.

Where's The SImpsons in those Sunday lineups? :D

Well unless it was an overall solid lineup I didn't include it. Simpsons were often surrounded by "this spot is reserved for midseason replacement" shows.

I was going to include this lineup from 93-94, but The Sinbad Show ruins it.

The Simpsons

The Sinbad Show

In Living Color

Herman's Head

Jesus Christ some of you people must be about my parents age.

Whoa now...I'm not as old as the stuff I posted makes me seem. I wasn't alive for those cartoon blocks, I just posted them as good lineups.

I was around for all of the primetime lineups, but i was young for a good share of the years I listed.

Sounds okay, but I'm not a fan of 1/2 hour Unsolved Mysteries.

Give me 1 hour of New Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack(!) and then we'll talk.

OFF DA HOOK. I don't remember Penelope Pitstop or The Monkees, but the rest were great, especially Dastardly and Mutley. Mutley's snickering was hysterical.

The site I got these from didn't have Simpsons on until the 90-91 season, didn't they start in 89-90? Were they a midseason show?

The original SNICK lineup was:

8:00 PM - Clarissa Explains It All

8:30 PM - Ren & Stimpy

9:00 PM - Roundhouse

9:30 PM - Are You Afraid Of The Dark?

...damnit, now you got that catchy Roundhouse theme in my head.

(singing) Whenever my life gets my soul down, I know I can go down...to where the music and the fun never ends. As long as the music keeps playing, you know what I'm saying...I know that I can find a friiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeend...down at the Roundhouse!

Actually Roundhouse was on at 8:30 and R&S was on at 9:00. Unless of course they switched it around before I got cable.

That's another fun little list waiting to be made:

"All the short-lived shows that followed the Simpsons time slot"

One of the first ones I remember was called "Babes", about a bunch of fat women living together. In fact, I remember commercials that had the women chasing Bart around.

Well ILC's last season wasn't that great.

Not just "not great", it was downright horrible

not just the slot after The Simpsons, but the one after MWC changed pretty much season to season also, heh

There for a while on sunday nights on FOX you could watch an hour of King of the Hill

followed by and hour of the Simpson.

My big ass would not budge from the couch.
