Guest fanofcoils Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Him in WWE would have been great a decade ago
Golgo 13 Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 A decade ago he'd have been more misused than he would be now. Meh... I won't believe it until it actually happens. It may not even lead to anything.
bob_barron Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Liger will be working ROH in October- so it's totally feasible.
Guest Coffey Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 I thought he was in the States to work for RoH?
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Even though he is my favourite junior heavyweight, I think Lyger should stay far away from WWE.
Downhome Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 We'll I'd like to see him work a great match in WWE just as much as the next guy, but I know that they will not book him as a great worker who is here to have a great match. He'll just be another Japanese guy, and more than likely would join a group of "evil Japanese wrestlers".
Dark Age Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Well, the Liger and Kenzo's situation is very different. Kenzo was basically blackballed from virtually every fed with Japan (Although there was rumblings of him entering ZERO-ONE.) after the incident with Giant Ochiai. (Which if you don't know, Ochiai was training in Riki Choshu's dojo, and apparently got roughed up by Kenzo, and eventually died due to severe head trauma.) After the incident, he quit/was fired from WJ, and talked about going to the WWE in America. Woah. I remember reading about some guy with a brain haemorrhage after messing up in training, but I had no idea KENZO was to do with it.
Zack Malibu Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Kendo Ka Shin did dark matches for them, and that never led anywhere. Plus, I think Lyger would make a LOT more in Japan than he would on a WWE contract.
Steviekick Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 As cool as it would be to see Lyger in WWE for novelty sake, I could see him getting angry with misuse and such. However, getting to be able to easily obtain Lyger merch as well as him being a reason to make Ultimo Dragon want to stay around stateside longer could be worth it...
Dark Age Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 I think it would work. Taken from DVD: I personally think his ring gear might be enough to get him over in the WWE, just because it's so different by comparison to everyone else in the WWE. I can see where the average fan or more specifically WWE management might've thought Ultimo looked a little too close in appearance to Rey, but I don't see that being a problem for Lyger. Maybe.
Internet Warfare Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 I cant imagine Liger not comming out to his NJPW theme. Anything else would be wierd.

Twisted Intestine Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Wait.. wait... I've got it! Edge is injured.. Liger is coming.. Edge comes out on RAW to "I think I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so" Next week, Liger comes out to the same thing, and there's no sign of Edge... Wait a minute.. IT IS EDGE! Then once Edge gets back from injury he reveals that Liger had him locked in his basement to take his place as a top contender on RAW, and Edge never really did turn Japanese. This gets a giant "BY GAWD!" from J.R. Vote Twizted for head booker!
SinToxic Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Let's see - no brainbuster, no shooting star, no Liger Bomb (thank you D'lo Brown), I have a hard time believing that he'll get over with shotei's and rolling kicks. ::drools from ass::
Guest Trivia247 Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Brainbuster is still there, shooting star is still there, Lyger bomb is still there (Though the WWE version has been Batistavized.)
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Brainbuster is still there, shooting star is still there, Lyger bomb is still there (Though the WWE version has been Batistavized.) Didn't Brock use a Lyger Bomb on Big Show in that triple threat match with Kurt?
JJMc Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Isn't it Liger and not "Lyger?" Or is that just the Americanized spelling?

Didn't Brock use a Lyger Bomb on Big Show in that triple threat match with Kurt? Im sure that powerbomb (version) has been used by alot in the WWF/E wasn't Droz's powerbomb essentially that.
SinToxic Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Brainbuster is still there, shooting star is still there, Lyger bomb is still there (Though the WWE version has been Batistavized.) While the shooting star is still there Liger himself isnt using it lately. Who have you seen use the brainbuster in WWE? and no reckless benoit/eddie suplexes don't count. Liger Bomb - let the head hit the mat before the shoulders bomb will be permitted by the WWE? I think not. I don't want to see a halfassed Liger, halfassed Ultimo was enough.

Guest Salacious Crumb Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 He's probably on vacation in the States before his RoH date and decided to make a few bucks.
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Who have you seen use the brainbuster in WWE? and no reckless benoit/eddie suplexes don't count. Chavo Guerrero used a brainbuster on Ultimo Dragon in their cruiserweight title match on Velocity, I believe.
Guest Trivia247 Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 and as far as the Liger bomb goes, the basic Bomb move is still done except Shoulders coming down with head not head first... Since the WWE is too paranold to do otherwise. Is it a Bastardized move Yes but at least it is still done and is being done in the WWE.
jester Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 I don't know much about this Lyger guy, but he sounds exactly like the kind of guy WWE would have A-train squash frequently in order to build him up for his next feud with the Undertaker.
The Czech Republic Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Isn't it Liger and not "Lyger?" Or is that just the Americanized spelling? I always thought it was "Jushin Thunder Liger" with an I, but this is WWE, and Russo's legacy lives on in Tazz, Rhyno, and the Dudley Boyz. I wouldn't rule out just becoming "Lyger," as (Yoshihiro) Tajiri, (Sho) Funaki, and Rey Mysterio (Jr.) can attest to.
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Isn't it Liger and not "Lyger?" Or is that just the Americanized spelling? Liger is how his name was spelled in WCW years ago. Lyger and Liger are both correct actually. Jysuhin Thunder Lyger is also pretty much correct spelling, but I believe it places more emphasis on pronounciation than anything else.
