Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Seeing the Daredevil: DC thread made me ponder this question. Or do you guys buy both? Frankly, I'd rather get it when it first comes out rather than wait longer, but then you get the re-release of the better DVD in the following year or so which I find annoying as sometimes the special edition contains things that made me regret getting the original DVD in the first place. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Wasn't DD a 2 DVD set to begin with? When they start with 2 off the bat it's USUALLY a safe bet to assume they're done with that one. Yu can never tell with DVDs. Sometimes they do SE aditions, but sometimes they don't. There's no way to tell what's they're going to go SE with.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 It depends on the movie. If I really enjoyed the movie and want to watch it right away I will buy the movie the day it comes out. Of course that does not happen very often, the last non-wrestling dvds I purchased were Kingpin and The Natural some 6 months ago.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 It depends. I'm less likely to buy a "bare bones" DVD when it's likely that a special edition will come out later, as was the case with Rounders and Swingers (two movies that should be in every guy's collection, IMO). With Goodfellas, I didn't want to buy a flipper, so like everyone else I patiently waited for the SE disc that's out now.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Problem is how can you figure out which movies will become SE's? If I like the movie enough I'll double dip...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 3, 2004 If it's at least a semi popular movie(cult or mainstream) and the DVD is bare bones or light on extras, you can pretty much guarantee a SE will be coming. Sometimes the SE is slow in coming, as in Batman '89 and Goodfellas.

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 I still haven't bought LOTR:ROTK because I'm waiting on the Extended Edition.
Guest Sturgis Report post Posted September 3, 2004 What about Major League? Cause 2004 marks the 15 year anniversary of the first one and the 10 year anniversary of the second one.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 It's pretty rare that I'll sit around waiting for a SE of a DVD. Bare bones doesn't bother me most of the time because I just don't watch many of the extra features. For instance, I think I've listened to two commentaries out of all the DVD's I have. Deleted scenes are pretty cool, but their inclusion will not affect whether I buy a particular DVD or not. If it's a movie I really want, I generally just go get it. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Is Batman '89 SE already out, or is it coming out soon?... Summer 2005 to coincide with the release of Batman Begins. I believe Returns will also be released at the same time. After recently watching Batman '89 again, I have no plans to buy it. It's not nearly as good as I remembered it being and Jack's performance is really the only reason worth watching it for.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Batman '89 also had the world's greatest soundtrack and score combo.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Even though it's more flawed than I always remembered it being all the times I saw it as a kid, I'd still be all over the Batman '89 SE. I've simply seen it too many times to have a real beef with it.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 The funny thing about that Batman movie is that every time I watch it I lose interest about halfway through and shut it off. I still like Jack as the Joker, though...
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted September 4, 2004 I've never bought a DVD movie when it first comes available because there aren't too many movies that appeal enough to me to do that but maybe that's because of all the wrestling tapes I buy and the fact I need to not spend too foolishly. Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted September 4, 2004 I try to contain myself, most notably with the Dawn of The Dead DVD, which was released with a commentary and not much else. But I'm a movie nerd, so commentaries are a big selling point for me, so I got it anways. Now I'm looking at trying to find money for a 3 disc set in the coming months. Curse you DVD industry.
