The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 Yeah, I'm huge on this show during summer reruns. So what's your favourite/creepiest Unsolved Mysteries (that you remember)? I can't think of too many right now, but The Hum (a society of 1000+ people world-wide who can hear this awful low-pitched hum) is a recent favourite. Also, I'd have to nominate the story about a mean-spirited abusive father who collapsed in a French bank and thought he was going to die. Then, he claims while he was unconsious and dying he was taken to the depths of Hell and beaten (well, his spirit was). After praying for the first time in his life, he was "saved" by a holy ghost who took him away from the beatings, and he eventually woke up (in human form) and recovered. Now he's a reverend. KanadianKrusty 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2004 Do new episodes of this show still air? Doubtful, IMDB doesn't have anything about this show past 2002 and Stack died over a year ago.
Guest Astro Report post Posted September 8, 2004 Lifetime may still do updates with that Garcia girl, but I don't believe that's the case Unsolved Mysteries is supposedly having a "Best of" Supernatural DVD release sometime soon

Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted February 27, 2005 I'm watching all the DVD's and one of the old murder cases really pissed me off (I remembered it from when i was a kid) A guy pulls up in a truck on a street where a bunch of kids are playing and walks out naked from the waist down. A neighbor sees and calls the cops, her son comes out and takes his keys, and argues with him. The guy shoots him in the chest 3 times and the head once. The kid still tries to stop him, and hangs on to the keys. Finally his mother got him to lay down bleeding all over. She runs in the house to call 911 and sees the guy go in his truck , grab a shotgun and blast her still living son. The police give chase, catch him, but let him go on bail. He then disappers and is not seen again for 15 years when he was apprehended. he is currently serving a 70 year sentence. The kid in the story is played by Matthew McConaughey
tominator89 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2005 I remember this one that aired when I was pretty young. I guess some hikers found a videotape of a burning house or barn. The arsonist actually spoke as the building burnt down and his voice combined with Stack's comments freaked me out. That's all I can remember of it.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted February 27, 2005 I thought that was a guy who burned his own house's frame (that had yet to be buildt ) in order to cause a stir. He had no intention of doing any real damage.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2005 I had been a night owl since I was a little kid, and I'd watch UM with my mother a lot--along with stuff like Kolchak, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Night Gallery... And she wonders why I like those "stupid, weird horror movies." It also made Stack's appearance in Beavis and Butthead Do America all the more hilarious. Stack + the reinactments often made the show, but since they never showed gruesome gore in the reinactments, they'd find *something* to reinact. I'm reminded of when some campers' kids found "human remains" in a forest one time. A segment they did on a haunted hotel comes to mind, complete with a psychic trying to figure out what the deal was. I didn't know Stack died. It's a shame--I've loved to have heard his voice pop up in some upcoming video games (i.e. Area 51, Destroy All Humans) and in some more animated shows. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that wasn't freaked out as a kid by that theme music.

I marked for the Update segments. Especially, when it onlyturned out to be a new composite drawing of the suspect.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2005 Yeah, I always get excited when they do that on AMW too. You hear "Update!" and think that they finally caught the fucker, then it's "the suspect was recently seen in Pasaic, NJ..."

The arsonist actually spoke as the building burnt down and his voice combined with Stack's comments freaked me out. That's all I can remember of it. Oh shit, I remember that... That guy had that creepy voice... He sounded maniacal watching that house burn down. But on the bright side, in an UPDATE! a couple months later, I also remember the guy getting busted. Part of the problem with the videotape was that it was dropped nowhere near the house, so the authorities had no idea where the house actuallly was. But once UM aired the case, the people whose house burned down recognized it as THEIR house, called the authorities, and it led to the guy getting busted. strummer 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2005 The arsonist one scared the hell out of me as kid. I remember one where some woman was cut into pieces and found in the Florida Everglades. Then some guy dressed up as her to buy a plane ticket or something. It was a scheme between some psychic and a British guy. Then there was one where a woman who led an auto company promised that she could manufacture a 3 wheeled car. Turns out it was a guy and he stole millions from investors. The cops found his wig and fake boobs when they searched his house. Very creepy

syxx2001 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 Ive seen a bunch of episodes, but I remember one where this girl was home from school and some people got in her house so she tried to leave but the door was locked from the inside, and she couldnt find her key, so she went back upstairs and they hit her in the back of the head and tied her up and ramsacked the house and she begged not to be killed and one of the guys unwrapped her and left and occasionally she has seziurs or howeber you spell it. I only remember it cause it happened in Sugar Land which is a suburb of Houston. SL or Clear Lake, it was probably CL though. Oh, I remember one where this guy sniped a sherrif through his kitchen window and I think he lived. Another was this guy and his friend were drunk so they went out fucking with people and they pull up to this pizza parlor and this guy is leaving and they pull up and try to take his car and he runs back into the parlor and they cant get the car to start so they leave and they are fucking around on the highway and shoot some guy with a shotgun. Ive seen alot of UM shows, but I remember alot more Beyond Belief episodes.
