Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 I'll say this. You Yankees fans better pray that your starting rotation can go at least seven innings every game in the playoffs, because if you have to get that middle relief involved, things could get ugly in a hurry. Cartman 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 ...and to be real honest, their rotation isnt that much to be happy about either.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Is El Duque allowed to pitch every game for the next month? Seriously, he's the ONLY pitcher I have any faith in right now. Thats sad, compared to last years Pettite, Clemens, Wells, and Mussina. Now Mussina is even worse, and the other three are long gone.
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Before the game is even over, I can hear Joe Torre saying "It's only one game, they just beat us bad today" Sterling and Steiner have already started the "It's only one game" theme on the radio.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Twins magic number is down to 10 and they're only 1/2 behind pending the outcome of the Texas/Oakland.
Fuzzy Dunlop 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Supposedly the Marlins put up a photo of Steve Bartman on the jumbo tron at the game today. What douchebag pieces of shit, seriously. And their World Series patches, and Cabrera doing an Alou impression. I hope they all die. Seriously, Steve Bartman was just a Cubs fan who got stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time. Let him live his life, fags. Maybe we haven't won a World Series in 96 years, but at least we don't have hurricanes destroying our homes and wrecking our lives. I even thought about going today and tomorrow, wearing a Cubs jersey, and rooting for the Expos, but apparently this charity thing was all a scam to get us there and then laugh at us. Fuzzy Dunlop 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 And I fully support the beaning of whoever it was, I didn't see if it was at his head or not, but I hope so.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 14, 2004 The Marlins are now my new favorite team for the next 25 minutes. Maybe tomorrow they can bring a goat to the ball park and have someone in the middle of the field eject it, and have the owner curse the Cubs.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Honestly, and I've seen some BAD Yankee teams, I've never seen a team with the absolute uncanny ability to turn it down like 50 notches anytime they have a must win game. It borders on the absurd. If the Yankees need a game, you can bank on their D- game.

strummer 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 It's funny that the Marlins and Marlin fans would mock Moises Alou, since he helped them win a World Series in 1997
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Everyone's taking it too serious. It's not like the Marlins dug up someones body and pissed on it in the middle of the stadium. They made fun of a (really bad) goof up the Cubs did against them...in the Cubs own park.
treble 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 The game today wasn't at Wrigley.
Mik 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. They aren't best friends, they are rivals. Some people are taking it a bit too seriously. I wouldn't get that upset if they made fun of the Marlins, and god knows they have enough material.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 14, 2004 The game today wasn't at Wrigley. I thought the Marlins were playing in Chicago today? Oh crap...are they where the White Sox play? Edit: uh-oh, not another joke.

Dude, think about it, you're a Cubs fan and you contribute your money to a Miami charity to go see a ballgame and then all they do is roast you. That's bad enough, but mocking us at Wrigley is far worse, and using this guy Steve Bartman over and over again..... don't you think this guy's gone through enough? Bored 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 In the A's/Rangers game a near brawl just happened between a Rangers player and a fan. I have no idea how it started the only footage shown is a Ranger reliever and a fan jarring at each other then all the Rangers stormed from the dugout and eventually a Ranger threw a chair at the fan. Truly bizarre. Edit: Frankie Francisco was the one who threw the chair. The chair ended up hitting some woman in the head. The Rangers want a forfeit. razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Is that the worst brawl that extended to the fans ever or what? That was one bizarre fight.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Wasn't there that one a few years ago at Wrigley where some Dodger players (I think it was the Dodgers) who went into the stands? Regardless of what the circumstances were Francisco is going to get a pretty big suspension and probably a lawsuit as well.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 I thought it was a Boston security guard attacking some player in the dugout?
strummer 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Huge win for the A's, they come back after trailing in extra innings and win 7-
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 and of course the chair doesn't come anywhere close to hitting the intended person, instead smacking a FEMALE in the side of the head.......brilliant move.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 14, 2004 I guess the "nothing exciting" statement was proven false. a Texas Ranger getting into a fight with a fan and hitting someone else by accident intentionally with a chair, and the Royal, THE ROYALS, hand the Yankees another ass-whooping. Also the Marlins thing (that wasn't at Wrigley).

Bored 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 From the chair throwing incident last night when it originally happened I was like "oh shit a fan must have come on the field or thrown something" but from what is coming out about the story it was just a fan talking shit. The woman who got hit with the chair broke her nose. Francisco is screwed.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 Wasn't there that one a few years ago at Wrigley where some Dodger players (I think it was the Dodgers) who went into the stands? Yeah, there was. I believe a drunken fan swiped the cap off of one of the Dodgers bullpen pitchers head and took off with it so they chased after the fan. It's been 4-5 years since it happened, so those details might not be totally correct. Bah, it's not a big deal. Quite frankly, the Marlins earned the right to rub it in a little after coming back from a 3-1 hole to win the LCS last year so let them have it. I don't have a problem with it. As for Bartman, well, that guy's just cursed now.
Mik 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2004 If you're a Cubs fan and you "contributed" money to a Miami charity, the only reason you were there is to cheer against the Marlins anyway. So, you get what you deserve. You also didn't contribute anything, you went to watch a ballgame and cheer AGAINST the team you are competing against. Hence, a rivalry! It goes both ways. The Cubs aren't some sacred beings above a little teasing. Cub fans can go to a game that involves two teams that aren't the Cubs and boo the Marlins, but they can't be subjected to a little reminder of last season? Riiiight.
