Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2004 I still sometimes think that Eminem was the result of a bet between Dr. Dre and some other people that Dre could push a white rapper and not have him become a joke like the rest Why do people pretend Vanilla Ice was the only white rapper before Eminem and the Beastie Boys never existed? Because I can never seem to qualify the Beastie Boys as rap in my head In my defense though, I was also thinking of Snow, even though he was more of a short-term joke than Van Winkle Against my defense though, 3rd Base was a good white rap group EDIT: Whoops, didn't see all those posts after IDRM's HoP blew
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2004 How can you fuckers forget 3rd Base? pop goes the weasel cuz the weasel goes pop muthafuckas! Just about anything off Cactus Album > "Pop Goes the Weasel" (though that was a funny song)
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2004 it's easy to not think of the Beasties as rap because here anyway they never get play on the rap stations, it's always the rock stations...hell i think local record stores lump them in the rock sections, not the rap sections... 3rd Base ruled, you can get the gas face bitches, suck on da cactus! wait that's white dudes that have a cactus... CBright7831 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2004 Who is the producer of the song and who made the beats? Probably Eminem. I'll admit, when I first heard the song, I thought it was shitty. When I saw the video for it though, I began to like it.
CBright7831 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2004 to answer Youth's question: from the Slim Shady LP: My Name Is from the Marshal;l Mathers LP: The Real Slim Shady from D-12's Devil's Night: Purple Pills from The Eminem Show: Without Me from D-12's D12World: My Band from Encore: Just Lose It other than Lose Yourself from the 8 Mile soundtrack, goofy poppy songs are his standard procedure when he breaks out a new album...which is why i said earlier, you can't always judge an album by the first single you hear... Fixed.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 I mean when you listen to the song it sounds to me like he intentionally is making fun of all the party rap songs and not even trying to be good lyrically because he knows hes gonna debut at #1 no matter if the first single was him shitting for three minutes. Which would be better than this song

Bingo Beasties Boys was a PUNK band on a rap label that needed mainstream attention.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 Beastie Boys were not a punk band. If they were a band, what instruments did they play? They were punk rappers, but they were definitely rappers.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 They were so hardcore punk that they did not need to play instruments in the early music videos.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2004 I really can't say anything too bad about this new Eminem song, just because I was expecting worse. The Slim Shady LP, and the early D-12 stuff was fucking gold, and had it looking like he might pass 2-Pac as the greatest of all-time. Then, the Marshall Mathers LP was basically a carbon copy of the Slim Shady LP, even positioning the songs that were about the same things on the same parts of the album. And ever since then, it's just been downhill. The Eminem Show was where it first started to look like Eminem was selling out, and the quality was quite a bit lower. It was still better than most rap albums, but you could tell he wasn't at the same level of his earlier stuff. Then, this new D-12 stuff started coming out, and it was just fucking terrible. I hated "My Band" when it came out, and I hate it even more now. There a couple decent tracks buried on the D-12 album, but for the most part it was absolutely phoned in. This new "Lose it" song just being average instead of annoying as fuck is actually a pleasant surprise for me. Oh, and by the way, Purple Pills was certainly not a poppy "made for TRL and radio" type of song. It's an excellent song, and when they try to play it on MTV, they have to pervert it so far from it's original form that it barely bears any resemblance. CBright7831 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2004 Michael Jackson is reportedly threatening to sue Eminem over the rapper's new video which depicts the superstar playing with young children. The video for "Just Lose It", Eminem's first single off his upcoming album entitled Encore, hit MTV and VH1 airwaves this weekend kicking off a firestorm by Michael Jackson's camp. In one scene, Eminem wears Jackson's trademark red leather jacket with kids bouncing around on a bed and raps: "Come here little kiddie, on my lap, guess who's back with a brand new rap. And I don't mean rap as in a case of child molestation." Jackson is coming out swinging on Eminem, including slamming the rapper on a segment to air today on ExtraTV. Michael Jackson is reportedly "very displeased" with the video and is considering legal action if the rapper does not scrap it. Jackson's spokesman said: "The Jackson family feels the video is demeaning and disrespectful and hopes Eminem will pull it. Bob Johnson pulled the video from BET and Steve Harvey was saying Eminem was out of pocket for dissing Michael Jackson. When qas it illegal to start dissing Michael Jackson??!?!?!? I thought Bob Johnson sold BET to Viacom so I doubt he really has a say in this. I don't think its a big deal thou, because everbody has made fun of MJ and lil boys. Regardless, the song is hot garbage its on my top 3 worst rap songs of the year. 1. White Tees 2. Lose it 3. Flap your wings (get ur eagle on)

Guest PlatinumBoy Report post Posted October 15, 2004 Honestly, how did White Tee get big? I heard it over the early Summer on a friend's burnt CD--kinda a joke song they put on there to blast at other cars and I remember thinking "What the hell......?" Then a few weeks later I see other people listening to it, and then yesterday it's playing on BET?!? It's a novelty song no doubt, but why White Tee?
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2004 White Tee song sucks, I can see why people can relate to the song. Now at the clubs they're having White tee promotions if you wear a white tee you get in at a dicount price. Well, atleast the White Tee trend is better than the "Wearing Pink Clothes" trend. I can image Cam'ron is going to make a "Pink Tee" song version on a mixtape.
