NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 So I got a new phone. I kept the same service(besides the fact that I have to now subscibe to PCS Vision to take full advantage of my phone's features). Anyways, I have the ability to download ringers THROUGH Sprint, but the problem is that they are only good for 90 days. I mean seriously this is crap. If I download something and spend money on it, I want it for good. Now I know you can go to various websites and buy ringers off of there, but I have never done it, and not so sure about the reliability and if they TOO are only for a limited time. Can anyone recommend to me any good & reliable websites for downloading ringers? And share some personal experience in the matter. Thanks.

Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 Verizon is no better. I use T-Mobile and I'm thoroughly indifferent towards it.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 Depends on where you live and primarily use your phone. I've had AT &T Wireless, Sprint PCS, and currently have Verizon Wireless. AT &T sucked fat ass where I was and most friends who had it switched over to something else. Sprint PCS never did me wrong. I switched over to Verizon because I became an employee. I've found Verizon to have about the same clarity as Sprint with more coverage area. My wife had Cingular and to this day looks to fire bomb all Cingular stores and kiosks because they suck so fucking bad. From my experiences I'd rank the following... 1-Verizon 2-(a close second) Sprint PCS 3-AT & T Wireless 4-Rapeular...err...I mean Cingular T-Mobile gets an N/A because I haven't had any experiences with it, nor know anyone who has. Just my opinion.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 Sprint fucking sucks, I'm tempted to go to Verizon now. The man speaks the truth. I shunned the naysayers, but after nine months of having my Sprint phone and service, it does indeed suck. Whether it be calls getting dropped or not receiving calls at all (that's quite annoying to get no phone call, but then hear your voice mail ringtone go off), it's been quite the hassle. But then again, I don't put a whole lot of faith in any cell phone company, since they all seem to have their setbacks. As for ringtones, I use 3gupload.com. They request a small donation (something like five bucks), which opens up all the ringers you want for a year. No complaints so far.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 I have All-Tel for my cell-phone and AT&T for my work cell, and neither have given me a problem. So, 3gupload is just a five dollar fee and any ring tone you want for a year? That sounds like a winning idea to me.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2004 I've been a loyal ATnT customer for 3+ years with no problem until lately, and it is funny you should mention ringtones... Last week I received a letter and coupon from ATnT saying that in appreciation of my customer service, they would upgrade my phone for free (well, free in that I renewed my contract for one year, which isn't a problem to me, since I get extra bennies for being a state employee). In addition I got some other extras for free, including two cards good for $12 from ATnT's ringtone/image/etc store. So after shopping for some polytonic rings that appealed to me, I attempted to purchase them online, only to be told there were technical problems and I couldn't get them. Then I attempted to purchase them through text messaging, and I get a msg back saying that the tones were incompatable with my phone. I call CS and tell them this and was told by ATnT techies that apparently this model (Nokia 6010), in spite of being advertised as a polytonic phone, is apparently incompatable with the ringtones that ATnT has on their website I'm only mildly pissed about this, as it is an otherwise perfectly functioning phone and I didn't pay for the online credits, but I was disappointed as I wanted some cool tones, goddammit. EDIT: Tried it again just for the hell of it, and now it works and I got my tones. Guess they fixed whatever the problem was
LatinAssasin 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 My friends had Sprint phones and they used www.matrixm.com and I'm sure they were able to keep them as long as they wanted. They got rid of the phones because Sprint overall sucked. That's why i stick to nextel.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 If PCS Vision is anything like mLife/mMode from AT&T (wireless CNN, stock tickers, movie times, directions, etc, using your phone like a gimpy little web browser) then don't even bother with it. That shit is fucking expensive. I ran up a $16 bill looking around mMode one month and trying to navigate menus. AT&T is now using GPRS, which is better than TDMA and the others. But man, those fees on data transfers, holy shit.

I have unlimited nights and weekends though, so as long as I wait til night, I should have no $$$ issues.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Ok, my pal from work made a webpage that hosts MIDI file ring tones, and he offers them for free. However for some reason I can't get them on my phone. I can get to the page with the files on it, and once I click the link, my phone will start playing the MIDI files, just a computer would when you click the link, but my pal said that is all you have to do, and it should automatically download to the phone, but not for me. It will play the MIDI file when I am ON THE PAGE, but when i close my browser, nothing is downloaded Anyone know if there is something you have to do, like an option, to start the act of downloading the MIDI file?
