Triple H's Most Embarassing Loss...

Recommended Posts

Guest Prof_Plague

That WM XII match against Warrior was priceless. That match was, what, ...about 30 seconds long? And then they used the lose to start a HHH-Marc Mero feud.

Hey, there you go. Didn't Marc Mero beat HHH in the finals in the tournament for the I.C. title? Although that was all that embarressing because they were at the same level then.

Lance fucking Storm beat him on his jobfest 2002 on Smackdown.

Nope, Test beat him. Lance lost.

I'm pretty certain Storm beat him at that time and that may have been the night he went ape-shit on everyone in the ring w/ the sledgehammer to close the show, leading to Edge confronting him the next week in what seemed to be a face/face feud between the two.

No- Storm didn't beat him.

It was a competitive match but HHH won

Didn't HHH lose to Pyscho Sid in the first round of the IC title tourny?.

How about when Rocky Maivia defeated HHH for the IC title back in 97.

I believe the day after the final four ppv Bart Gunn defeated HHH it might have been by DQ though.

he lost to the reverand D-VON in 2002

I'm surprised it took someone this long to mention that one.

I'd argue that since nobody mentioned it until now, it wasn't that embarrassing.

Not since D'von showed his badass streak.

Besides (and this is from a guy who doesn't even remember seeing the match), I have to assume it involved lots of run-ins.

Did anybody find his job to Brooklyn Brawler to be humiliating?

I believe Jericho made a run in but I'm sure Batista used some force from the outside as well.

May 23, 2002: Triple H. defeated Lance Storm...Test defeated Randy Orton...Edge and Maven defeated Christian and Kurt Angle...D-Von Dudley defeated Rikishi...Cruiserweight Champion, Hurricane Helms, defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr....Chris Jericho defeated Mark Henry.

May 30, 2002: World Tag Team Champions, Rikishi and Rico Constantino, defeated Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo...Christian defeated Maven...Chris Jerichodefeated Faarooq...Undisputed World Champion, The Undertaker, defeated Randy Orton...Yoshihiro Tajiri and Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Billy Kidman and Hurricane Helms...Test defeated Triple H....Edge defeated Kurt Angle in a steel cage match.

Most of these matches mentioned after HHH was an established champion weren't "embarrasing" as they were done what they were booked to do, put more heat on him as a heel. The loss to the Brawler was brilliant booking that put heat on HHH, nothing embarrasing about that.

I'd put any loss to Henry O. Godwin first, easily, as he was just an embarrasing character to witness, and being involved in a protracted feud with him was embarrasing in itself, and certainly death to his heat at the time. Second IMO is the IC Title loss to Rocky Maivia, as HHH had been a reliable champion with decent heat and Rocky had NO heat and was very green. It made HHH look bad, and Rocky's reign sucked bigtime.

I'd say the Warrior squash is a distant third, but he DID come out of it with more heat than before due to the solid buildup, so it wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be. It was meant to clean the slate for him after the midcard embarrasment of the HOG feud, give him a fresh start, and in a lot of ways it did that as people started taking him seriously and everyone EXPECTED AND WAS HAPPY about the squash. The Kliq incident put that push he was in line for on hold obviously, but still....
