AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 question...is there a reason why these women can't act and wrestle and brawl as well as the men? WWE hires models, mainly, instead of young actresses with athletic ability. Torrie and Trish were both fitness models, so they were at least athletes, however I believe Trish is the exception and not the rule. WWE's idea of hiring a woman for her acting credibility means "oh, I see you were a juggy on the man show" or "you were in Dodgeball?! Perfect!" Of course, no young actress who respects acting would have anything to do with WWE's shitty writing.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 well duh I should know better, Vince doesn't care about good product, he thinks eye candy sells well, which obviously it doesn't...I can't understand how he doesn't know which portions of his product suck... It sells when used right. However, as I've mentioned in the past, ratings prove fans rarely give a damn about Divas as characters. When the Divas involved are devoid of personality and offer nothing else, they drive away viewers when overexposed. i.e. Torrie will be a part of a high-rated cheesecake segment. However, put her in an angle and try to get folks to care about her "character" and she's ratings death (aside from possibly the inexplicably high-rated Al Wilson debacle, but it seemed to indicate that Al was a bigger draw than his daughter). Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 well not so much Diva shit, i mean shit in general...if he has segments that draw so low, why keep going on them? I dunno, I don't pay attention to these numbers, but I do pay attention to crowd response and if I noticed that people don't give a shit about, say Edge for example, i would definently change something drastically about him or remove him from that spotlight... Agreed--Edge's character is boring as hell and WWE hasn't freshened it up. Too bad, since he apparently will be the one facing Trips at TT.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 who knows...perhaps it has something to do with this whole "watering down wrestling styles" thing the WWE has been doing lately to cut down on injuries...Edge does seem to be turning into Ahmed Johnson injury-wise, because he is nowhere near as interesting to watch as he was 3/4 years ago...if he would let EVERYONE wrestle to their potential, then everyone would be over enough to where, if Edge gets crippled again, wrestler B can step up into his place... UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 Carmella wasn't "acting" during the Kamala skit though, so your argument doesn't work about her "poor acting skills". So, she naturally laughed at Kamala? I'd laugh if a big fat guy with paint all over his bodies that looks like a happy cannibal danced in front of me. Carmella has more formal entertainment exposure then all of these skanks, minus maybe Stratus. She looks just fine in the ring, character and body-wise. Carmella/Christy is a bigger women's draw then anything in the past couple of years. Because their characters do not (yet) suck, they're actually HOT (and not just wrestlers coated in make-up like Victoria, Molly, etc. made to look somewhat pretty), and have ENERGY. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 bah, I can watch Cinemax at night for hot chicks, when i watch wrestling i want to see wrestling...fuck that Diva shit...these bitches ain't getting naked, they're not fucking or anything, if they're not gonna wrestle or even act worth a crap, why am I wasting my time, better yet, why is Vince wasting MY time? if i wanna watch bitches eat ice cream like it's a cock and sit on pies i'd go to a strip club... good workers such as Benjamin and Regal only get the final 5 minutes of a show as lumberjacks and I get Carmella wasting close to 15 minutes of my time...bah with this! Guest Reservoir_Kitty Report post Posted October 7, 2004 Carmella and Christy are -not- coated in makeup? They wear probably the same amount of spackle (if not more) that the rest of the Divas wear for their TV appearances. Personally, I don't think either of them are that attractive. As much as I hate to admit it, I'd definitely rank Trish, Torrie, and Stacy far and over those two. They have to wear lots of makeup just like any other actress. They're on TV, they're supposed to look hot for their legions of drooling fans, so, they wear a ton of makeup. Par for the course, I'm afraid. To say that they're a bigger draw than the other Divas (who are in a division that interest wanes in year to year) because they wear less makeup or are "hotter" is just grasping at straws. Dandy 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 From PWI INsider site We reported the Raw rating, which saw hour two drop 0.2 of a rating point from the opening hour, earlier on the site. In addition to only doing a 3.4 rating overall, the peak quarter hour for the night was just a 3.6, which they did at 9:15-9:30, 10:00-10:15 and 10:15-10:30. The low quarter hours came at 10:30-10:45 and 10:45-11:00 segments, which did just a 3.0. To see those kinds of drops that late in the show is certainly a matter of concern for WWE. Anyone remember what each segment featured? I think the women and Eugene were on late, but wasn't Benoit/Batista as well? Anyone have the segment breakdowns? -----Edited for grammar
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 Carmella wasn't "acting" during the Kamala skit though, so your argument doesn't work about her "poor acting skills". Then there's everything else she's been in... Carmella has more formal entertainment exposure then all of these skanks, minus maybe Stratus. And Torrie. And Sable--well, I guess she doesn't count since I think she's gone. I've heard of Carmella being in Playboy and that's it. "Formal entertainment exposure," besides that, means...? Plus, what does that actually mean besides nebulous rhetoric? She looks just fine in the ring, character and body-wise. She looks like Stacy could snap her in half with little effort. Does she have any athletic ability whatsoever? Carmella/Christy is a bigger women's draw then anything in the past couple of years. Based on? Plus, comparing them to a stagnant women's division is kind of pointless, don't you think? Because their characters do not (yet) suck, they're actually HOT (and not just wrestlers coated in make-up like Victoria, Molly, etc. made to look somewhat pretty), *was already beaten to the punch replying to this laughable point* and have ENERGY. Christy has "energy"; Carmella does not. She still doesn't seem to give a damn about any of this. And all of this, to me, is moot anyway because I don't want to see either of them. I don't see that guy getting more votes then Michaels or Benoit. Hopefully WWE will use him not getting the shot @ TT as reasoning for his heel turn. Who the fuck am I kidding, they'll say it's because he's jealous.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 "Edge is facing HHH? Since when? I don't see that guy getting more votes then Michaels or Benoit." I didn't say for sure, but Michaels and Benoit seem to be getting less focused on than Edge, plus those other two matches are done to death.

Promoter 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2004 Well, let's hope if ratings continue to drop we can see some REAL changes. Of course, the flipside to that is the wwe getting cancelled. I still don't understand how "net writers" can't see the wwe's current fanbase is the fanbase that started watching wrestling on monday nights in 1995. I mean combine the ratings for raw and nitro then and see it's not too much far off from what it is now. The wwe lost all the damn fanbase that was around in winter 2001. It is that serious how the wwe screwed up the popularity of wrestling(wcw too with its incompetence).
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2004 See what happens when the ratio of wrestling-to-storyline gets unbalanced. Not enough workrate makes the fans watch football instead of the drama of who's my baby's daddy and the battle of the drama queens Christy vs Camella.
