Arnold's stuff is almost always good for popcorn fodder.

 

I'm a mark for The Rock's movies too, which is good because SOMEBODY has to go see them.

 

And of course, can't forget the man Siu Lung, although if you're man enough to watch his stuff beyond Way of The Dragon and The Green Hornet (i.e. his child movies) you are HARD CORE.

At this point, there really aren't any actors that are 'must see' for me.

 

People like Pacino & Deniro used to be, but now they're both willing to be in just about any piece of crap that's willing to pay them. Ed Norton is close, but he's not enough to make me go see a movie on his name alone (plus, I hated that Spike Lee joint he was in last year, 25th Hour or whatever it was called). Brad Pitt is close, too, but most of his early work did nothing for me so he's getting by on the Se7en & Fight Club more than anything else.

 

Having said that, there are a ton of actors who I refuse to see: I haven't seen a Tom Hanks movie since Forest Gump, and I only saw that because of a girl I was dating at the time. Tom Cruise, other than Last Samurai I haven't seen a movie he's done since Risky Business. Will Smith, I've never seen anything he's done. Jim Carrey I avoid like the plague.

I'll see anything with Renee Zelwegger (provided it's not a cartoon), Norm Macdonald and Hilary Duff.

I do not avoid any actors, only piece of shit films. If a film is good, but it has an actor in it that I don't like, I really don't care. It's all about the movies.

 

For me there are only really two actors that I always end up seeing their films in the theater (and I've seen all of their films period). Those two are Tom Hanks and Jim Carrey. These are the only two that I have, purposely, watched all of their movies in part because they were stars. There are plenty of other actors who I have seen all of their films, but it's more because of simple chance.

 

I don't really care who is in any given film though. For example, I am not that big of a fan of Jammie Foxx but Ray looks like a classic, simply fantastic, film and I'll be there on opening night to watch it. Just like it was with Collateral. I don't really like Foxx, at least I didn't up to that point. I liked him in Ali also, but he wasn't really a driving force in that one. Now that his career seems to be going in a different direction, as noted by my making a thread dedicated to the guy not too long ago, I'll be keeping my eye on him more and more.

Jamie Foxx is actually quite good in non-comedy roles...he was one of the very very few bright spots in that slop of a movie Any Given Sunday, he was gold in Ali and Collateral and damn does Ray look like a good movie...now his comedies...those leave lots to be desired...

I'm totally with you. Everything I've seen of him that wasn't a comedy I've either enjoyed/loved. I didn't really like Ali, but I loved his role in that, and I flat out loved Collateral and I am pretty sure I'll love Ray also.

 

To this day I haven't watched Any Given Sunday.

Will Ferrell at this point, I will laugh at him even if the script's crap, so he's the only other, but I'm sure he'll try the cheesy dramatic role a la Carrey and piss me off.

 

Cruise and Bruce Willis, Pitt and Norton are usually very good at picking scripts, but none of them are must see. (whole ten yards? No thanks.)

Add Bruce Campbell to my list. I have seen every movie he has a signigicant role in, excluding the one Raimi/Coen brothers movie Crimewave. He's the best.

 

I actually liked the Truman Show, and LOVED Eternal Sunshine, but since his ingratiating turn on Truman Show, he's churned out some crap. The Magnificent, the Grinch (more because I think of Seuss being the last thing I wanted turned into a bad collection of jokes about farts and commercials and shit like that.) and Bruce Almighty is one of the worst comedies I've ever seen. He's no longer a must see.

 

I strongly reccomend Beat Takeshi to anyone. He's one of the hosts of Most extreme elimination, but he has been called the Japanese Clint Eastwood, for his deadfaced intimdating glare. Start with Brother, his most accessible.
