I do not even dislike the Marlins, but christ, he is just one player. Plus his stats will go way down playing in the Marlins big park. Coming on here is as bad as watching ESPN, only instead of the Patriots its Delgado.

"The year and a half since it happened has weighed heavy on my heart and mind."  At the time of the criticism, Nelson was angry the Mariners didn't make any major moves at the trade deadline. Nelson met Sunday with Mariners president Chuck Armstrong and general manager Bill Bavasi, then met Monday with team chairman Howard Lincoln.  "I went to their office to say that I was truly sorry and to make sure they knew that," Nelson said. Left-handed batters hit .167 against Nelson last season and right-handers .224.

Fuzzy Dunlop Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Well, it was believed that the Cubs would sign Burnitz as soon as the Sosa trade is official, but tonight Hendry called Boras and made an offer of reportedly 2 yrs/ 20 mil, and told Burnitz that if Maggs signs elsewhere, he's our guy. Dave Kaplan of WGN Radio all but guaranteed we'll know by dinner time tomorrow whether it'll be Maggs or Burnitz in right this year.

We all know the ball travels well in Coors but it's especially favorable to left handed hitters. Wrigley on the other hand is just the opposite as it can be very tough on left handed hitters. He'll be 36 and will six years removed from his best year. For what it's worth, Burnitz has compiled 180 at bats in Wrigley, with a .256 batting average, .357 OBP, and 14 home runs.

That season is the only season since 1997 that Burnitz failed to hit 30 home runs. Even considering Coors Field, Burnitz's OPS+ was better than Sosa's last season.

They're blue, have the Cubs logo and say "Believe" on them. I guess they were only available at the Cubs Convention, but they'll be putting out more eventually. Look pretty cool and I'd like to get one, but the prices for them on eBay are obviously borderline ridculous right now.

Tim Kurkjan's column today claims Jason Jennings is the best hitting pitcher in baseball. Even without adjusting for Coors, Jennings' raw stats are not as good as Livan Hernandez's. Picking Brooks Kieschnick would be cheating. Wes Obermueller went 15 for 39, but that's just one season. Over a career, Jennings has the best raw stats, but Livan's gotta be number one.

Mags would've been the way to go, but I'm not sold on him being 100 percent or reliable for the entire season. At the very least, Burnitz will add a left-handed bat for a lineup that was sorely lacking last season.
